Hey Jarrod, bit of a longshot maybe, but I have the exact same laptop chasis (eluktronics MAX 15, 2021) albeit with a Ryzen 9 5900HX and RTX 3080. After using it a lot and playing around with the power settings, I found that the laptop can sustain 30/35W on the cpu and 135W on the GPU without throttling.
You mentioned that the laptop in this video has liquid metal applied to the CPU. Do you by any chance know if liquid metal is used in the 2021 AMD MAX-15 version of the laptop? For the life of me, I can't find that information online, and I don't want to remove the cooler just to find out.

I would want a 16:10 AMD version of this with type C charging to consider buying. I do think potentially the next gen should bring better CPU and GPU power efficiency (assuming both are on 4nm). The type C is a huge miss given one would expect thinner and lighter machines to be geared towards travel.

Standard Type-C only goes to 100W with some manufacturer's doing 130W. The new Type C standard that goes to 240W is still very new and will probably take another year or 2 to hit devices. Limiting devices to Type-C is how the Alienware X14 ended up being so much worse than the Blade 14. Even then, laptops pretty regularly have to bump up to 330W and will have to keep using the old connectors.

Also today I found out that Illegear is the XMG / Eluktronics of Malaysia (Illegear Onyx G is literally the XMG Neo 15), but I can't really confirm if it has all the XMG laptops, and I just want to let you and everyone else (in Malaysia) know incase they want to buy XMG Neo 15, etc.

They basically order from PCSpecialist and sell to you, offering warranty and services directly from Italy, if you really desire that type of things.

15:08 - 15:25 My guess is the reason for the erratic keyboard RGB lighting and the inability to change its brightness is that the Linux kernel in use in Ubuntu 22.04 didn't have support for that part. Which is a shame because that could be a distraction for users. While I'm betting that's fixed by now with a more recent kernel, the fact that every thing else worked in a live USB environment is kind of disappointing...

To anyone watching this, unrelated question to this video. My Legion 5 5800H/RTX3070 comes in tomorrow and I want to get a cooling pad, however since i'm bringing it to work as well I don't want a massive pad, it has to be somewhat compact but something that does a good job. I had my eyes on Klim, Cooler Master and Thermaltake (i'd like a respectable company their product) but i'm not sure on which one to go for... anyone has some good recommendations?

Specs of this machine , is it running on DDR5 or DDR4 ? I'm pretty confused as it is written 16GB DDR5-3200 in 1:34 . So it is running DDR4 since there is no DDR5 at 3200 ?

laptop probably biggest challenge is with thermals
especially during heatwaves where lets say EU and eastern europe dont have infrastructure that designed to battle the heatwave instead its designed to handle winter
so my discontinued gaming laptop during winter time gonna have great time during winter season but can reach up to 84C while indoors being 29C even during night time
so before you say that we complain about extreme heat we have several reasons to we dont have AC since its a luxury only few can afford and passive cooling depends if your apartment has air circulation and some apartments all windows faces the sun all day

I read a lot of reviews on last year's mech 15 and people have a lot of complaints with the keyboard layout ( arrow keys squeezed into the keyboard rectangle, awkwardly shaped shift key etc)
Many people said a couple months down the line they face the double key press issue (pressing a key once makes it register twice).
What are your comments on this issue in 2022 models?
