That second to last one I feel you misunderstood a bit actually. Sonic has always been successful in the west, it's Japan where the franchise has lagged behind. The commenter was a western Sonic fan who was asking how Frontiers was doing in Japan, to which Kishimoto stated it was doing better than previous titles by a fair margin
Yes. I think the last Sonic game series to being succesful in Japan was the Adventure series and maybe Heroes.
Idk why other ones kinda fell behind though.
@@elmemearana Sonic's always been a character intentionally designed to have a more US appeal. His attitude and design have heavy western influence that just isn't as popular in Japan. Like Kishimoto said, Frontiers kinda turned things around a little bit at least, but it's been a slow burn to here
@@KrissyBlues well, there's many japanese characters with some western influences that are as popular in Japan as in west, so I guess it goes the contrary way with Sonic because SEGA, somehow, had a bad marketing towards the franchise there but, you know, I think you can take this information with a grain of salt too cuz it's kinda hard to know where this blue blur is being popular or not lol. Again, Adventure series exists.

I am glad that Morio Kishimoto keeps on answering more of our questions. Just when you think he was finished he comes back like crazy. I am also excited about Sonic Frontiers DLC 2 because that should be a lot of fun to play.
I don’t mind the island being a big island with trees and grass honestly it gives the game more atmospheric depth in how the ancient live with nature and technology also how sonic interaction around him as he is a force of nature against technology.
Oh I forgot that Sonic had a green theme with its games. Like preserve nature and don’t pollute but it’s very subtle at timea

I think Kishimoto answered the "west" question perfectly fine. The way I read it, they were asking, because they were interested in knowing as a fan from the west, about how it did expanding the reach of the franchise in Japan and Asia.

In Japanese, from what I understand anyway, the word for Grass and the onomatopoeia for Laughing sound very similar. And when lined up, a bunch of Ws look like a row of grass. So Japanese people online will write wwww when laughing. Or Grassing at you, as it were.
And you'll sometimes see this instead because it looks like a smiley face 笑
For the next chao garden, there is no need for new music. The old music just has something about it that feels nice. If they remake the old chao garden music (SA2) then I hope they just freshen it up.
What i think they should do is turn the Chao Garden into a mobile game where you can interact with all future Sonic games, collect items in the games for it, and even transport your chao to the main games to travel with you.

All of this news is pretty sick. I haven’t managed to pick up frontiers as of yet and I would do it this week but sos a wonderful life is coming out so I’ll have to wait another 2 weeks for that, at least update 2 will be or be close to being out lol.

It makes sense for Cream's family to run the Chao Garden. Yet hopefully they introduce her father to the games and have him be the creator to a Chao park with Vanilla running the Chao Kindergarten.

Sonic sales in the west have always been better than in Japan - so with Frontiers, they wanted to improve sales on the local front.

Although the final island was pretty empty, it was honestly my favorite.
It had the best platforming segments and really kept you on your toes.

A new ending? I hope so! tbh the canonical ending pissed me off a little bit. The story from the end of the fourth island could be much better and is out of tune with the rest of the plot which is perfect.
