- Sega just showed off 5 new games, plus announcing more are in development. Which everyone is taking as the new sonic adventure remake, which I cover today. As well as why this is likely to release soon and how this lines up with previous leaks.

Remaster = taking the exact same game and upscaling it to look or run better. Ex. sonic colors ultimate or The Last of Us Remastered
Remake = take stuff like the story of the original game but create the remake from scratch. Ex. Final Fantasy 7 Remake or Resident Evil 4 Remake

I've said it a bunch, but Sonic Frontiers is the perfect foundation to bring back the Adventure games. The different islands in that game are just like the overworlds in SA1 -- Station Square, Mystic Ruins, and Egg Carrier -- but just with WAY more stuff to do. You go into Cyber Space stages the same way you go into Action Stages like in SA1. It's the exact same formula, but just modernized. It wouldn't surprise me if adding Amy, Knuckles, and Tails in the Final Horizon was their way of "beta-testing" how the characters could play as.
Plus since they won't feel overly pressured to make the hub worlds play like their the main part of the game. They can have denser maps without too much extra space or excessive hubworld puzzles.
They can focus on the actual stages and improving those
But I do wonder what they're going to do with Big's stages which are generally hated. Maybe they'll just cut down on the number of playable characters and reduce Big's role to a background character

True. Adventure 1 was advertised on it's open hub world structure. Frontiers opened the way to it being so much bigger than it was in 1998 with a remake.

Again what Stream has right now is a port of a port of a port with maybe one more port in there. The code is barely holding itself together.
Even a 1 to 1 remake with nothing but better graphics would be very welcome.
@metazoxan2 True, I haven't actually played adventure 1, so I'd very much like to try a version that is bug free. Heck would be cool if they A1 & 2 as well as Heroes. Maybe if they do well it will encourage newer adventure style games

i wanna play that Crazy Taxi game. i played the Crazy Taxi on Gamecube as a kid, & GTA Online really missed out on making a Crazy Taxi-like game when they added the taxi jobs which ended up being extremely boring. if u could customize your taxi & make it really cool then i would play that, but the jobs are literally just boring taxi drives. so im looking forward to that. never played Jet Set Radio but it reminds me of the early 2000's aesthetic so i wanna play that.
If they do remake Sonic Adventure, i hope they keep the Late-90's style, & don't touch the music, they can remaster the tracks but don't remake the tracks like the crappy versions of Sonic Adventure music in Sonic Generations...

That explains why it looks so good. I was thinking it might've been Sonic Dream Team since it's not released on any platforms people actually own, so I haven't seen footage of it yet.
It's the third game since I'm pretty sure the second game is 2D.

I don't think releasing remakes of those games in 2024 around when the 3rd movie releases would be such a good idea, because that could possibly result in them being rushed, and end up as glitchy messes like Sonic 06 got released as! SEGA should take more time with remakes of SA1 & SA2, to make sure that they get released as the type of games that all fans really want them to be released as. ( polished ones that aren't glitchy, don't have lots of pop-ins, and truly lack any other kinds of frustrating performance issues.)
@@joeboosta6309 i dont really think it will be that rushed. Take for example mario wonder, came the same year as the mario movie but with a very respectable amount of months of difference.
I was very surprised by the lack of Virtua Fighter news, but other than that, I liked what Sega showed. That Shinobi game looked really good. 3D Streets of Rage is kinda weird, but I'm not opposed to it if they can pull it off well. Remaking Sonic Adventure 1, potentially 2, and potentially making a third, is the correct direction they should be going with Sonic, imo. I'll be very excited to see if that is indeed what they plan to do with Sonic in the coming months/years.
And this will probably never happen but... I would *love* for Sega to remake or remaster Shining the Holy Ark, or at the very least put it on Steam someday.

I mean Virtua fighter only had recognition for being innovative for it's time.
It doesn't especially have anythign to bring to a modern table gameplay wise and it's roaster isn't remembered fondly enough to be remade for that alone.
I mean, sega has RGG in their belt. If anything, them making streets of rage 3D is a great move.
With advancements in technology, now seems like a good time to do a sequel to Kid Chameleon.

If we do get an SA1 remake i hope they give amy and gamma more levels. Their stories are the only ones that need some tweeking, imo. they could very easily give amy red mountain, emerald coast and windy valley without it effecting her plot line. I'd really like her to have closure about gamma too, maybe after she beats Zero, instead she could come across his destroyed shell and see Birdie's parents escape? it would add to the emotional value of them flying away together. The only tweak they need to their stories are closure with eachother. I always thought it was so sad / hypocritical how amy has such a profound influence on Gamma, and then he's never mentioned again, even in sonic battle. it would do his character justice, i think. and it would allow for everyones stories to come full circle.
Mechanically, if they sped her up and maybe even gave her a spin jump/double jump as well as a roll attack like knuckles and tails, i think it could still keep her gameplay simple but unique. Speeding her up though would be the biggest priority though. she's way too slow.
Would be cool, though some fans didn't like their stages, and only tolerated their stories because they were short.
Maybe they could pull a SMRPG and have extra optional stages as post game content.
Yea i hope that if that happens the extra amy stages will be extra unless they change how amy controls to something like p06
Amy would need more than just more levels imo. Her mechanics are so beginner friendly that there's no depth to her gameplay. She'd also need a deeper role in the story than just looking for a bird's parents. Her personality could use some more maturity too, because even if her purpose as a character is to be Sonic's #1 fan, her tendency to obsess over him whenever he's present gets irritating over time.
Note than I'm talking specifically about her SA1 version. I don't really know how much she changed after tha SA games.
In sa2 amy has even less to play in the story and is SLIGHTLY better. In 06 Amy is a little better than sa2 but is ruined by the infamous girl talk scene
@@beauwalker9820 ohhh that could be cool! maybe a free mode, where all the characters can go to any level? That would create a large amount of replay value, especially from a chao garden perspective if they make more level exclusive animals.

Sonic Adventure remake is 100% teased in that trailer. They are in a city, in a skyscraper, they hear a roar that sounds very much like Perfect Chais, then lose power? Heck, you could argue that the objects blipping out of existence is Chaos Control, hinting at SA 2. They hid the announcement right out in the open

I can see it happening, especially with the talk of wanting to make another adventure style game (even tho I feel like they’ve talked about doing that for ages) and with the 3rd movie being based off adventure 2. How they will turn out I have no idea… hopefully good I’ve just played and finished adventure a few months ago and really enjoyed it still have yet to beat adventure 2 tho… I’m enjoying myself with that one.
In an ideal world we get a “Sonic Adventure Ultimate” next year with SA1 and 2 remade, and SA3 (or at least a very adventure 3-feeling game in the form of a frontiers 2) in 2026

I am hoping if a Sonic Adventure Remake is coming the Chao Garden will be vastly improved maybe ask some Chao Garden Extended mod developers to join the team to make it the best Chao Garden experience.
No better time to be a SEGA fan, I’m telling you. Honestly I was just happy to see Samba de Amigo alone get a new game (which I still need to play), but seeing all these old SEGA IPs get their long overdue yet well-derserved return has me so hyped, especially Jet Set Radio! Now hopefully this means we can get NiGHTS, Space Channel 5, Burning Rangers, Billy Hatcher and/or Skies of Arcadia (fingers and toes crossed) back with them. Please, SEGA, please!
IMO completely redoing the last 1/4th of Sonic Frontiers and releasing it as free DLC was when I realized Sega's probably not fucking around anymore

I think a sonic adventure revival is possible with this new wave of reimaginings, but it seems like the point is to introduce the franchises to a new generation since theyve been dry for a long time. Sonic is still alive and kickin', so including it in the game awards trailer would probably undercut the message they're trying to give. They aren't exactly remakes anyway, it's a fresh start for the franchise inspired by the original, if an adventure remake isnt faithful, people are gonna be pissed

I think when it comes to it, golden axe is probably the earliest in development and that was more to show off art direction and pitch. with Frank Frazetta's fire and ice/sword and sorcery stuff coming back into vogue, it's not a bad step

The Sega trailer with 5 new games is for sure the best part of the Game Awards and it was very interesting that they had easter eggs with the Sonic ring sound effect, phantom ruby sound effect, and a picture of San Francisco. The fact that they are reviving old ips increase the chances that a Sonic Adventure 1 and Sonic Adventure 2 remake are more likely. They need some kind of game to go along with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 so 2024 might be the time for the remake or some kind of adventure style spin off 3D Sonic game.

Three months ago I applied for a brand manager job at Sega. I didn't get the job but This was one of the projects I was hoping to manage 😢
So in other words, it sounds like the "Super Game" Initiative is just taking the early MCU approach of releasing a bunch of individual games to drum up hype of the inevitable crossover.
If they do that I believe Sega will use that in their new gaming console.

6:25 Sega made one 3D beat'em up for the arcades in the 90's called Spikeout. It was cool because it had branching paths and progression, and a timer to clear an area.
I can’t help but feel like ‘dream team’ was a test run of sorts to see how people respond to playing as multiple characters in semi open levels again.

I don’t think Sonic would take “ all the sales “ I think they are looking to let those games have the lime light. Sega realizes that IP fatigue can set in with Yakuza, Persona and yes even Sonic. Time for Sega to have their “ renaissance “ … proper this time and not half assed.
I hope that if they do a remake of the Adventure Titles, they do a “complete saga” thing and make both games the same game so I only have to pay for 1 60 dollar game. I understand if they won’t, but I’m praying for my wallet rn with these SEGA titles I wanna support (down with monopolization). There’s a lot of logic in remaking the Adventure games in 2024 because that will also provide a hype that’ll carry over to the movie release, boosting sales even more and funding more and more ambitious projects. Sega’s new team is getting really smart with their finance and timing. I hope one day we get Yoshimura and Hashimoto from the Unleashed team to write a game. Their ambition was ahead of their time and we could really use some of their passionate and risk-taking subversive writing (I really like Unleashed it deserves all the adjectives) for these future high-budget games
I'll say it until Sega gets the message- SEGA RALLY! There's no more arcade racers that actual motorsport enthusiasts can get excited about (except for Art Of Rally). Rally racing is in an upswing in popularity, especially in the US. Especially group B and group A. The time is right.

Can't wait for Jet Set Radio to have more information, I love Sonic but I am not much of a fan of the current state of it. Maybe Superstars will change my mind but for now I just keep playing the older games. Jet Set Radio needs another game though, and get Naganuma in it SEGA.
Been following since the rumors a couple years ago about a Crazy Taxi/JSR reboot. Soon as the JSR leaks appeared a few months ago I was so pumped, So happy it's back!!! Replayed both JSR games the last couple of days for the nostalgia ^^

If Sega will remaster the adventure games plus adding new awesome features, I will buy it with no regrets. Also if they ask for ideas, then Sega should also add bonus characters and new upgrades,just like the ones wrote in my comment from the video SADC (Dreamcast) vs SADX (Director’s cut) made by the great Sonic Beyond.

idk about remake, my thoughts were more that they'd pull a mario 3d all stars and offer a collection with emulated SA1, SA2, and maybe heroes, particularly if they are making a new adventure style game and want to piggy back off the story of SA2/heroes, a full on SA1 remake seems like the least economical way to introduce a new generation to those games in anticipation of a follow up

With the huge success of the Crash and Spyro remakes, it seems like a no-brainer to give that treatment to SA 1 and 2. They'd probably sell like hotcakes on nostalgia alone, and it would be like brand new games for a bunch of newcomers. And it's the perfect way to set up a SA 3. Financially it sounds like a no-brainer

I wish the creators of the Sonic the Hedgehog games told me the truth telling me why the great old times of showing Sonic, his friends and others in 3D action stopped for such a long, long time. I believe they will be seen again, but I wish I knew what was the deal for not continuing the great old times. They wrote them those multiple times before, I wish they have written them some or even many more times. They were awesome besides Sonic being playable in those 3D games.

SIDE STORIES - Station Square is pretty big so it would be nice to get immersed into life of citizens. Ranging from more down to earth stories, to highly absurd.
MINI GAMES - it would be fun if there was Arcade where you can play all classic sonic titles. (Sonic was a celebrity in Sonic adventure 1&2 so games about him made sense)
I’m pretty sure they won’t add the classic games on there otherwise that would devalue Sonic Origins plus making it pretty redundant to own.
I’m excited for golden axe, to me it always seemed a bit generic but it was still a fun series. I imagine that continues with this next one.
It has some small elements gameplay wise from future, Being able to do multiple tricks in the air and on rails. Which I was very happy about. I do wonder if they gonna bring the boosting back, I also looked close in the pictures, I think we MIGHT have the graffiti elements from future as opposed to the first game. I could be wrong but idk

@@artistanthony1007 it wasn't. Its closed down now, but it was themed around either taxis or the game. It had an unmistakable taxi theme and it had a single arcade machine. That being crazy taxi

A sega game that I’d love to see get a remaster is Skies of Arcadia. I’ve been emulating it recently and for its time it was pretty ambitious and it’s still pretty good. Though that being said combat would need a revamp maybe look to the Tales of series for inspiration in that regard.
I believe SEGA was half-correct in assuming that 2.5D would appeal to a larger audience. Namely, youngsters. I just think they severely underestimated the scale of the older demographic still playing these games. Though, I don't believe that Superstars was really ever meant to appeal to their veteran audience in the first place.
when you say that it makes the rush trilogy have a chance at being successful, it has that blend that could appeal to both audiences especially rush adventure which has that typical sonic aesthetic with the islands and the kid-friendly pirate theming

I hope it’s a remake, mostly because I really really hope it ISN’T a remaster. Sega is infinitely more likely to screw up if it’s a remaster because the source code is likely compromised. If they haven’t preserved the code for Colours, then they probably haven’t preserved the code for the OG Adventure games. They’ll probably have to decompile the files from one of the other versions, which is exactly why Colours Ultimate turned out the way it did at launch. If Sega’s working with brand new code, then at least we’re not at the mercy of a bad decompilation.

It is correct that hand drawn is more niche. And also more expensive.
