Thx. Parshall and Tully do a good analysis, but I still feel that there was a good deal of luck involved. It was a close run thing.

I wonder who is writing this. I enjoy the narration and I appreciate the prose, as well as the story telling of historical events. Very engaging. God I hope it's not an AI author 😉😂

I always hear the Stories of the skill and bravery of the Japanese pilots in the beginning of the War.And And how they were shot down later in the war.And that's why the japanese for so bad off. Let's remember in midway. There were no hell cats. American pilots for fighting with.
Support equipment that performance was way below the lot of the Japanese. No wonder it was such a turkey shoot in The marianas. Also remember, these were non veteran pilot's going up against very experienced.Japanese pilots that have been fighting for several years in china.

Kido Butai. Pronounced Key-dough.Boo-tie. Not Kid Butai, The latter sounds like a young Japanese Flyweight Boxer!

Economics fed into most of the Japanese planning and reluctance to change those plans. Combined with natural conservatism and the national obedience to structure that left little room for adaptation or even cancellation. It is really remarkable that Japan cancelled the physical invasion of Midway.
As to Japan's desire for the Big Battle, it's odd how they, a racist nation, vastly underestimated just how racist the US was (is), and how that racism made US resolve for retribution ironclad. There was zero way the US would negotiate or sue for peace. While the IS govt did indeed push Japan into war, the US people were galvanized by Pearl Harbor. The turning point of the war vs Japan was Pearl Harbor, because it focused American industry on war production. As this series of videos states, the outcome was inevitable once the US was online.
