Anyone can tell the story of Midway but, information after this is always going to be Oops. Nobody can say that the Japanese had only one lucky shot, the American Navy had all the luck. Because we did have a good day, why? Because we won.

Improvisation is not a Japanese strength, very complex Japanese planning, all was too much cemented in ceremony, and ingrained tradition. Tends to thwart tactical adjustments.
