@Ali-H3444 thank you 😊 I think the ability to be able to trace any image and create an inlay is the way to go with this 😊 Will try in my next vid on this 😊
I haven't used inlays yet because I want to make unique ones, just never figured a proper way to thicken the silicone enough to keep it stable so it wouldn't "blob", so, Mr. Daniel, my hat off to you for showing me the way!
I was thinking that maybe if you poured the silicone in a pan, then used cookie cutters to get some shapes as thick as you want. Although, I do like your stencil ideas! I have way too many from a different art endeavor. Thank you for your fun experiments! I have collected many ideas from you and haven't yet tried enough of them.😅 Keep it up!
Good evening Daniel, I've been waiting to get to see this vid after seeing your fb post. I thought I wasn't going to have anything to say (duh@me lol) firstly, Vallejo frost...my FAVOURITE ever paint, love that stuff! (try putting that into a stencil on top of resin, it gives an amazing result) Secondly, you can create your own stensils with a cameo or a cricut. A big investment if all you're going to do is experiment, but...Daniel, you have friends that have the equipment! I'd happily make and send you some custom stencils. I made a tree of life cabochon yesterday using your glow in the dark technique, I made the tree on the cameo out of vinyl, I'm not a fan of ready made bezels. I was going to make it into a pendant but a customer wanted to buy it as is, (I explained the cab needed sunlight to charge) Back on subject, this is such a clever techinque, I have some rubber masking fluid. I'm going to try with that, see what happens. I'll let you know! xx
Daniel, you're a genius! Again! I would never have thought to thicken silicone to do this, never mind finding if there was something out there that would do it! 😊👍💕 What a GREAT idea! Bonus that it strengthens it, too!
I told Wendy over at Toonpish that I wanted to try to use silicone in stencils to make inlays… and then here you go and do it… at least now I know it works!
@@daniel..cooper yeah, this was MONTHS ago… it was back when she made the inlays from they wax stamp parts! I was like, I want to try this with stencils! But I never got around to doing it…
Another AMAZING experiment... I love them... thank you! (I keep thinking window clings, lol) Also, it's not a COMPLETE thought/idea yet, but my mind keeps going to Embossing Folders too. Hmmm🤔
That turned out very interesting with lots of possibilities. Now you have me wondering about pouring a sheet of the silicone, allow it to dry and see if it could be run through a die cutting machine.
@@daniel..cooper That may eliminate some of the bumps and hiccups that the stencils present with the connecting lines that letters and numbers have. I'll be waiting for a video.
The clingy nature of the silicone inlays reminds me of the pre-digital days of shading art with zip-a-tone peel and stick. Now I’ve gone and given away that I’m old.
I have a hoard of silicone stamps. Had tried the pouring over them in the mold method. They leave the annoying edge rim though. Your video made me think out the box, and great ideas & content as always. Got a bunch of stencils .. somewhere 😂 Back to my idea 😂😜 Im going to have a go at pressing them onto the partially set resin to get the indentation required. Making the image in reverse, will not work on lettering of course.
You can also brush this in layers to create a mold of a 3rd object. We always used a 1:1 ratio though. I have done it before with coplay designs, but never occurred to me to try it with stencils for inlays lol 🤯🤦♀
Love all your videos! Idk if you’ve ever used the ‘smooth on’ products, they have a variety of silicones. I use ‘em for inlays and molds. If I need a flexible mold that will stretch a lot around a vase or something I use a stretchier silicone, if I want an inlay I can use repeatedly to make many pieces I use a more rigid silicone. I think you’d really like their products. I’d love to see what you’d create with their stuff.
Once you take the inlay of, could you then make some more silicone up this time with colour and just lightly drop some silicone in where the inlay was?
I'm loving this Daniel, you could make a whole sheet of it, say like an a5 size or less, but pour it just a little bit thicker than those you've just done and then use something like die-cut to make the imprint on them? Or have you tried while it's still malleable going over it with one of those rolling pins that have patterns embossed on them? Anything I think like that would work, or am i on the wrong track? You should maybe talk to Wendy at toonpish as she makes her own inlays and together you might just crack it wide open....Good luck 😊 because I have been trying for so long to make my own, and although I'm close I'm know where near on your level 🧐🫡 so excited to see where this leads....🫶🏻🤞🏻🥹
Thanks 😊😊 This was literally just my 2nd run with the experiment, I'm 100% sure this will be worked on on a bigger and deeper scale 😊😊 Watch this space 😊🥰
@daniel..cooper I most definitely will, I watch all your videos, usually too shy to comment...but this one just blew my mind-incredible....its totally up to you of course but I would defo reach out to Wendy at toonpish as she makes and sells inlays like incey wincey baby ones haha, so maybe she may have an idea for you? And you maybe able to help her also....but honestly, I can't wait to see what comes next....keep up the good work 👌🏻 you know that you can put let's resin silicone in the cheaper moulds and the finabair molds also don't you to make inlays? If not have a watch of one of claires videos at claires Crafty corner....she shows you how, and I had another thought but I lost if haha....oh yeh, you can make impressions in playdoh/plasticine and then bake it to keep it like that forever that then becomes a mould in which you can use to make inlays again claire shows you how, I can't say the video as you can't attach links anymore, but you'll find them in her water/sea/ocean section I hope any of that waffle has helped and maybe gives you a little bit of inspiration if needed 😉 see you on the next one 🫡🫡🫶🏻
@coloursofangels Thank you 😊 Yes, I reached out to Wendy today as was so worried about this vid 😂 Awesome, I never knew about the plasticine in the oven trick! Thank you 😊
Your video's are always so interesting, I've learned so much from your experiments. I like to experiment a little too, i wanted to know what an Exothermic reaction was, so poured my 2 part epoxy too deep and it was fascinating, it's like a slow volcano erupting over the mould lol
You are so smart and creative Daniel🤓 This. Was a wonderful experiment with great results for your initial stage in developing another ground breaking Resin Art Technique! Excellent work 👨🏼🎨
I've used Pure Fumed Silica Powder to thicken 2 part resin before but not silicone. Your powder reminded me of it and so I a little DD on fumed Silica powder and it says it can be used for thickening .. (drum roll) Silicone also. It seems to me when I used it for the resin that it really shortened the working/curing time which wasn't what I was real thrilled about but like i said that was with resin and not silicone. Hats off to you as I thought silicone was is supposed to be very touchy and it is so easy to contaminate it etc and expensive . Perhaps if you have some laying around, you might give it go.
