Ever listen to something so perfect it pisses you off?
This is it.
Just can't handle "near" perfection? Wow, better be a little more introspective. To be offended over something good, is an earmark of the Narcissist. Something better than my views, ideology? Huh, not to be countenanced.
grassroot011 it was tongue-in-cheek :-)
@@grassroot011 what does that mean in English terms
@@cindydering5847 it's literally an English phrase buddy. He's not offended at all, he's poking fun at how well the piece was played, and because it's a really difficult thing to pull off, seeing it played so perfectly is frankly awe inspiring.
innit bruv
the conductor looks so happy
Because he is :)
And how would YOU look if allowed to conduct the "President's Own?"
Well yeah
This is a super hard song and it sounds good
@@ilovehomies I can confirm, as a person whose suffered the twisted ways of Percy Grainger music, this was not fun
@@simpleperson6281 wait you were playing this?
Percy Grainger, the torturer of brass and wind players alike. Lord knows what was going on in his head when he made some really, really challenging music
Them Trombones though
They were so precise! Like pistons in a car
It always fires me up when they're able to get the Bass instruments going fast lol
Interesting turn of phrase especially considering his 'extra-curricular' activities away from music 😂
He didn't write that. It's a very old folk dance.
This isn't challenging.... standard repertoire..
The thing i love the most is the conductors little dancy dance at the beggining
i started laughing when i saw it too lol
Even practicing this slower is a pain
I played the Xylophone for this in my senior year of high school, I just remember how important it was to be exactly on time or the piece would just crash.
So awesome!!
Thanks for making a standard to work for. I'm playing second cornet on this and listening to this will make rehearsal next week go well.
It did!
This is the absolute best version of this song I've found on RUclips.
...and I see in the sidebar that you've also done Irish Tune From County Derry, looking forward to that
The first 6 seconds is just absolute perfection
It's strange seeing a simple morris tune, usually hammered out for the benefit of ale-sodden folk dancers in a pub car park, being performed with such perfection and gravitas!
the dynamics at 1:35 .... 🤩
This is absolute perfection.
0:16 ahh yes. Perfection.
1:25 *
You highlighted the easiest part of the song
Rachel Perry is an amazing saxophonist😍
Dylan Royal very great saxophonist
Aulii Kaauamo ah thank u
Hmmm…someone has a crush on Rachel.
@@LyleFrancisDelp what makes you think that
Am I tripping, or did she wink at 1:04?
I'm playing this at my next concert
Playing this in community band and I’m in high school wish me luck
I'm playing this next month... somebody save me
Felt that
Wait wat grade u in
Aulii Kaauamo 11th
SMERSMER that’s pretty advanced for 11 grade in my opinion
SMERSMER but good luck
0:38, For some apparent, random reason, reminds of Disneyland.
I thought that since the first time I listened to this 🤣
The syncopation at 1:19 blows me away every time.
Played this song, very good!!!
This piece sound sooo good I wish my all county band coulda stuck wit it
Percy Grainger is GREAT!
No, he’s mean. He made this to make high school and college students lose their sanity and make professionals look like gods
THEY ARE SO GOOD OH MY GOODNESS!
this makes me happy and i’m not sure how and or why
Percy Grainger’s music is so good 😅
low brass at 1:24, i’ve been reborn
Excellent!
I'm bass drum for this song 💕💕 preforming tonight 😍
UM Saxes Fall ‘24 Excerpt #4 starts at 0:00; Excerpt #5 starts at 1:11
I’m playing this in 7th grade highest band
I started learning this today it’s fella fun
Impeccable as always!
I play xylophone in 7th grade it was my best choice for UIL
1:25 in high school we had a sticker "Low Brass Kicks Ass" - haha
I notice that there are still no "dislikes"!!
:(
graeme011 😡😡
this aged well
bravo !
Thinking about how I will be 78 on Percy Grainger's 200th Birthday and how I said I would direct a marching from Sidney to Perth on that day...
Bravo!
This piece is a lot of fun on alto clarinet.
[Applause]
1:32
1:25 Bass Trombone!!!
Wow
I played the easier version of this by Patrick Roszel with my junior high band. We will be playing this in our UIL concert.
I did honor band my junior year and we did this exact arrangement and had three days to put it together
Why am I emotional after hearing the final chord?? Lol
The people who down voted this are angry that the Marine Corps Band plays better than them.
Good.
Fabulous performance, thank you. Would you mind if I crosspost? My Channel is not monetised, features many Grainger works, and I'd like to add this. I just want to spread appreciation of Percy Grainger's work.
why did someone dislike this?! Anyone know what type of ensemble this is?
This is a Wind Ensemble.
Also known as a Concert Band.
Natheniel Becken no. Those two things are different.
dislikes are probably all English Horn players.
What's the time stamp for measure 82?
Imagine playing this in 7th grade band....me rn is quaking
i play this in 8th grade band
@@gaus98real I love it lol what do you play? I play French horn
tenor saxophone
@@gaus98real ooo I love those
i have to play this for a spring concert
i’m in honor band 😭
The tuba part >>
I wonder if Percy and Spike Jones ever met.
The dislikes were probably the English horn players
were they forced to have those haircuts or was that an individual choice?
Bit late on this but it's the presidents own marine band which means they are technically soldiers and have to cut it within protocol but this is considered the one of the best ensembles in the world
What's up with the cor anglais player not doing anything
There isn't a cor part in this piece
😡
I do band at my school and this is wayyy less complicated then this😂
ik me too
yeet
The score says: "This setting is not suitable to dance Morris Dances to."
so therefore conceded, what's the point of the piece's title, huh?
Bravo!!
