Awsome mate👍 Got Wake Wood thought it was soso. Got that Drive In boxset!! I quite enjoyed The Hearse. I Enjoyed The Changeling. Love The Prowler a classic. Love Scarecrows thoe!!! Vey enjoyable indeed. Bad Moon hahaha have that on the good ol' VHS. I haven't seen Frankenstein General Hospital sounds up my ally i might have to track that one down lol. I've seen Imprint but i would love to get a copy of that for the collection. The Devils Hand lol i have seen this one many moons ago. AMER sounds intriguing mate might have to check that one out. Love me some gialli.
Hi Deon. Thanks for the comments. You seem to be one of the few viewers so far who have seen most of the movies mentioned. If you’re a fan of Imprint then the dvd is worth getting as it has a lot of special features about the making of it and Takashi Miike. Thanks for watching
Hi Neil, the concept of Wake Wood sounds very thought provoking, shame then it wasn’t utilised to its full potential 🧐 I see you managed to squeeze in a John Guillermin reference 😁 (nicely done Neil) love your T-Shirt 👌take care mate👍🎃👍
Hi Alan. Thanks, yes Wake Wood had potential but the script let it down. But there are plenty of horror lovers out there who may enjoy it more than I did. All the best
Hi Neil, Great video. The only ones I have seen are Bad Moon and The Changling. I think if I were to seek out some of these, it would be Frankenstein general Hospital and The Haunted House, cause they don't sound as scary to me. All I have watched for Spooktober is Psycho 3. Definitely won't be watching Imprint any time soon. Anyway, I enjoyed your video as always!
Hi Lita. Glad you are not traumatized after this video as there are definitely a number I can’t imagine you wanting to watch. The Haunted House is a good, safe bit of fun. Keaton is great in it. Take care and thanks for watching.
Entertaning and informative. I am not much into horror myself, but appreciate the mention of John Guillerman. It's not a Neil video without a mention of John!
Hi. Thanks for watching. Yes, likewise horror is not my favorite genre. I like many of the popular ones but find so many others only partially satisfying or not at all. Had to include JG of course and I’d say there is actually more suspense and dread in Thunderstorm than there is in The Devil’s Hand despite it not being a horror movie. All the best
Thanks Neil I enjoyed that. Always like hearing about some films I've not heard of. I must have The Haunted House on my Keaton shorts set. I'll have to dig it out.
Frankenstein General Hospital, I was going to check it out. It’s on Roku. Imprint sounds really interesting. I might have to look that one up. The rest of the movies shown I really have not seen some titles sound familiar but that’s about it Buster Keaton actually we made that short at Columbia in 1940 called the spook speaks not exactly the same storyline but the routines are the same Great video. Neil.
Hi Mike. Yes, you might like Frankenstein General Hospital as it might appeal to your sense of humour; it didn’t really work for me. I definitely enjoyed the Keaton short more. Imprint is a tough watch but if you have got on well with other Miike films such as Audition and Ichi The Killer, then you may be able to endure it. Thanks very much for watching
Some of these titles are familiar, but the only one I've seen is The Devil's Hand. And you're right: it isn't very scary! I'm beginning to wonder if my interest and curiosity about horror films is starting to dissipate. Your comments about Imprint make me question how much more terrifying imagery I want to see in my years left on this earth. Do I really need to keep injecting this stuff into my brain? I'm not sure anymore. Great video, Neil, as always! Don't pay too much attention to my over-analytic mind! I enjoy questioning all of my own motives. It's my favorite hobby.
Hi Mike. Good to hear from you. No way I’d recommend Imprint to you nor would I think you would seek many of these out anyway. I just tried to talk about some here that don’t typically get talked about bearing in mind horror is a favourite genre for many RUclipsrs. Your interest in horror seems just fine to me with so many that you mention from the 30s to 60s, Barbara Steele movies etc.
Interesting selection, as ever. Of all those mentioned, I've seen Buster Keaton's The Haunted House (fun), Whistle and I'll Come To You (classic), The Changeling (great bit of eerie 1980s horror atmosphere). I'd not heard of most of the other movies (Amer sounds good). I am very picky about what Horror I can actually watch, especially when it comes to modern levels of gore/abusive violence. Certain things cannot be unseen. So for 'Shock-tober' I cast a very broad net for what qualifies as Hallowe'en viewing. Basically anything with ghosts, monsters, magic/transformation or just having a spiritual dimension to the movie (eg - Field Of Dreams). It's a time of year when the veil between worlds is said to be thin so it seems a waste to only focus on the bad vibes! A month of dark horror would be like eating only hot curry for 31 days. You need a bit of bread and cream to soak it all up.. All that said, I have enjoyed a few nastier films this month as well as spooky comedies. Some of my first-time viewing highlights of the month (if you're interested) are : Jennifer's Body 2009, Dark Night of the Scarecrow 1981, Kwaidan 1964, Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde 1971, Near Dark 1987, The Clairvoyant 1935, Mystics 2003 (Irish crime caper), Stolen Face 1952, Vampira 1974 and Smilin' Through 1932 (yep, it has a ghost in it). And I can't work out quite what I think about Spider Baby 1967 (!) Have a good one.
Hi. Thanks for the great comments and glad to hear you know The Haunted House and Whistle and I’ll Come To You….There have been a few Octobers now where I have tried to watch more horror and more types of horror but generally I think along similar lines to you. Out of the ones you mention I particularly like Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde, Near Dark and Stolen Face. I know Spider Baby has a bit of a cult following but it didn’t do anything for me. That said, i absolutely love Pit Stop, which was also directed by Jack Hill and Sid Haig is in it too.
I make a note of the films you mentioned as I did not know any of them except the Buster Keaton short. I think that I would enjoy The Devil's Hand movie and I thought I had seen all of Rachel Ward's movies but I don't think that I have seen the one you mentioned. A wild range of movies.
Hi Randy. Thanks for watching. I tried to mix it up so that any horror fans who do watch won’t just see the usual ones being mentioned. The Rachel Ward one isn’t too easy to come by as I don’t think it has a dvd or blu ray. The Devil’s Hand certainly isn’t great but it is harmless enough.
Thanks, Stuart. Although not a great movie overall (in my opinion), I loved the design of the werewolf, it looked excellent. Hope you enjoy it when you get to it
I watched all the masters of horror episodes and loved the argento and carpenter ones in particular, but then one day I watched the unrated imprint episode and... wow, leaves those aforementioned in the mud. Miike is such a superior director that made me feel bad for argento and carpenter! imagine that! but that episode is a masterpiece though quite hard to stomach at times but absolutely unforgettable
Hi. Thanks for watching and commenting. It was certainly unforgettable, some moments had me wincing and shaking my hands! I missed Masters of Horror series when it originally aired but may try and catch up with other episodes as I’ve found them on streaming.
Hi Marcus. I did my best to mention at least a few atypical ones considering there are so many who consider horror their favourite genre. Savini’s effects in The Prowler are excellent, I’m sure you’d enjoy it. Some great, lengthy behind the scenes extras on the Blue Underground dvd also
I remember encountering 'The Hearse' many moons ago on television, but my memory of it is quite spotty (I'm not even sure I watched it from beginning to end), and I have a tendency to confuse it with another similarly-themed demon car movie, 1977's 'The Car', which I also caught way back when transmitted on cable. Most of your other citations were new to me, perhaps unsurprising given that horror is not a preferred genre for me, though all such suggestions are certainly appropriate for the season.
Hi Barry. Yes, The Car is the more popular one. I wish the car had made a more significant appearance in The Hearse. As horror is a popular subject amongst movie lovers I had to try and come up with at least some unfamiliar ones for anyone that might be interested (not that horror fans are likely to watch my channel much haha). Thanks for watching
On the dvd edition, I loved seeing behind the scenes on some of the effects, with Savini often standing nearby pumping lots of fake blood out of a pump. Thanks for watching
Awsome mate👍
Got Wake Wood thought it was soso.

Thanks, Roy. Definitely a mixed bag here. The Haunted House is pretty good fun. Thanks for watching
