The interactions with Mei and Ana are the highlights for me. I was not expecting to nearly cry with the prior while the latter continues to show how Ana is among the most badass characters of the OW roster.
I like the Lucio interaction bc of the significance of football in both Brazil and Peru. Lucio sounds so disheartened by his team losing, it’s really the only time she’s playful in all her interactions.
She seems like a complex character. There is sadness, anger, and even a hint of affection(for her llama Cuño) in her voice lines. Hopefully she’ll get past all her past trauma
It is a heavy trauma, she is smart enough to see that all the fault isn't her's, but empathetic enough to still carry it in her heart. And those are the signs of a great soul, i hope that between her people there are those that whatever happened is not her fault and they recognise that even then she still carries the legacy she loved and respected.
In 4:28 she actually says “piña, pues” which is a Peruvian expression that literally means “pineapple, then” and it’s usually used when something unfortunate happens :)
Piña equates to something like "bummer" or "tough break" and considering how grumpy she seems to be, more the latter for that line delivery. Think Raynor's "Tough break, kid" line from heroes of the storm

The "You'll see how much credit i deserve" to echo and "you have no idea" to sojourn hits a lot harder after they released her origin story an hour ago.
ahhhh i can't wait to learn more about her!! She has such a different energy compared to everyone else. I feel like we are going to see a huge contrast between her sun-shining character design and her actual background

Her backstory is on the website. But tl;dr She killed all her people (that are some kind of warriors/guardians from Peru) by accident when she acquire her solar powers. Now she's the only survivor of her tribe.
With the origin trailer... her voice lines really come in perspective the pain and guilt Illari carries in her heart, but I like that she isn't so jaded that she stopped being playful or polite.

Therte was another healing interaction I had while playing as her. I was using my weapon to heal a critical health junkrat. While healing him she says "This is not something to be proud of." That line was like whoa.

I really love the way Blizzard is adding more voice lines in the native language of where heroes are from, it just adds a lot of depth to the characters and makes them feel more like people with backstories than they used to.

Based on her interactions and that concept art that depicted a solar ritual, I think she was part of an experiment gone wrong, where everyone around her was killed. I liked the Sojourn interaction because it reminds me of the Genji & Sojourn interaction regarding their augmentations. Sojourn doesn't have it related to any sort of trauma, from what I know so its more of a cool upgrade to her, unlike Genji & Illari

If I had to guess it could be that during this solarthreading ritual she went under to gain her powers she lost control and accidentally killed the people she cared about. Im interested to see what kind of players keep with Illari, like a player stereotype kind of thing. So far, 14 days since release, it seems like illari players definitely wont be tank-babysitters but also not a “true” flanker, since they tend not to leave that pylon. Heres some types that Ive seen so far! Off-Brand Symettra: very independent players, who like to set up pylon at chokes in tricky placements, and beam down enemy supports in a very close range 1v1 when tanks arent looking. They take a pylon being destroyed as a personal slight, destroy at your own risk! Ambush Illari: These types are horrifying on multi-capture maps, they are Illari who strongly pocket flanker Dps like sombra. Theyre really good at hitting shots, but have no clue how to use the movement ability to its fullest. They use their pylon *exactly* like a soldier 76 popping heal ring. Objective Illari: These players will ping you to let you know where the pylon is as soon as its placed, and have that “come to me for healing” key ready. They have the objective on lockdown, and place pylons on the cart 100% of the time. They strike me as Lucios that swapped over and are keenly aware of just how little area that Pylon covers. Adhd Illari: they are constantly using the movement ability and relocating pylon. The playstyle works really good if you have a dive tank like doomfist, because this illari type WILL peel for you and have the go-go-gadget pylon. They have predictable movement, but take *full* advantage of the high ground

If I had to guess it could be that during this solarthreading ritual she went under to gain her powers she lost control and accidentally killed the people she cared about. She was meant to be a warrior who protects but in the end it cost her everything. :(

I think you missed a healing Quote, she also has a chance to say if healing someone "I've been to enough funerals"
Im interested to see what kind of players keep with Illari, like a player stereotype kind of thing. So far, 14 days since release, it seems like illari players definitely wont be tank-babysitters but also not a “true” flanker, since they tend not to leave that pylon.
Heres some types that Ive seen so far!
Off-Brand Symettra:
very independent players, who like to set up pylon at chokes in tricky placements, and beam down enemy supports in a very close range 1v1 when tanks arent looking. They take a pylon being destroyed as a personal slight, destroy at your own risk!
Ambush Illari:
These types are horrifying on multi-capture maps, they are Illari who strongly pocket flanker Dps like sombra. Theyre really good at hitting shots, but have no clue how to use the movement ability to its fullest. They use their pylon *exactly* like a soldier 76 popping heal ring.
Objective Illari:
These players will ping you to let you know where the pylon is as soon as its placed, and have that “come to me for healing” key ready. They have the objective on lockdown, and place pylons on the cart 100% of the time. They strike me as Lucios that swapped over and are keenly aware of just how little area that Pylon covers.
Adhd Illari:
they are constantly using the movement ability and relocating pylon. The playstyle works really good if you have a dive tank like doomfist, because this illari type WILL peel for you and have the go-go-gadget pylon. They have predictable movement, but take *full* advantage of the high ground
