Hi! If a non English voiceline doesn't have a subtitle, it's because I couldn't get it to play again after enabling in-game subtitles so couldn't get translation. Enjoy season 6 everyone!

Love the voicework and characterization, she sounds like she's been through some heavy stuff and it shows in how she speaks with a vengeful weight. Soldier's line is a dead giveaway that she might get blinded by rage more than any sunlight.
it almost sounds like part of her backstory is she got turned into some sort of living weapon of death, essentially a goddess of brilliant power, but it was never of her own choice, either by force, fate, or trickery- maybe even all 3, or even partly accidental. She not only highly distrusts Moira and despises her practices, but literally one of Illari's abilities seems to push everyone away, to never get experimented on again. When she does get powered up, it's like she's turned into that almighty force of destruction she tried to avoid happening. She's very rage-filled, avoiding all confrontation to whatever disaster and death she's caused to other innocents, as she sees no easy path to redemption than to try and focus on the here, near and now of who she can try and empower. She seems very simple and "raaaagh, Sun and rage!!" on surface, but there is clearly alot of something to her backstory. Hopefully we get to learn about it all soon.
According to the website, Illari was trained to join a group of sun-based warriors called the Inti, but in the Solar threading ritual she got her powers in, she somehow killed everyone else and is now the last of the order and lives in isolation to hide the guilt.

"what do you know about pain?" Ramattra, a once mindless general forced to fight and die for an uncaring god program, that was freed, only for his specific model to be hunted to near extinction, with him only left. Even after he was that culling, he has to suffer losing more of his species, other omnics, who are so hated that the already finite number of them, dwindled even more. All the while they peacefully protested to advocate for just equality, the bear minimum. Leading him to emotionally break and form a group that's based on such radical ideals brought upon Ramattra due to the hate that surrounded him. I would say someone faced with systematic genocide of his own people, would definitely know what pain and suffering is. I hate this notion of "you don't know true pain" mainly because most people in overwatch have gone through hell, ramattra arguably from an emotional standpoint has like the 1st or 2nd most painful past. Tracer was pretty much a ghost, mei created her colleagues tombs, genji was killed by his own brother, baptiste basically had no other choice but to join talon. Hammond and Winston both were experimented on like lab rats, the junkers faced an apocalypse, with junker queen having to fight everyday for 17 years in a harsh desert filled with killer omnics, sigma is basically a slave, I could keep going but I don't wanna.
I kind of like it. A lot of Illari's voice lines are contradictory. Like how so many of her lines are about not having time to be sorry, when she is obviously haunted by regret. When she asks Ramattra what he knows about pain, I don't think the player is supposed to agree with her, but to give insight on her own self hatred and self important worldview. She refuses to process her pain, and only acknowledges it when those emotions bubble to the surface and temporarily break her cold demeanor. And when that's the only way you let yourself process those emotions, they're not going to be based on logic, but emotion. Long story short, Illari doesn't strike me as someone with very much emotional intelligence.
Ramattra is using his pain to justify the eradication of all humans AND all omnics who don't fight by him, yes he's suffered, but it does not justify passing his pain onto EVERYONE ELSE. i love illari bc she's also peruvian like me, but it hurt me when echo copied illari and said "ill e ari" instead of just "iyari". I thought Blizzard would stay faithful for that :( oh well

I wish Illari and Sombra had dialogs in Spanish. I hope they do it one day.

She sounds like somebody...i just cant put my brain onto it
