A very intuitive video, I'm a filmmaker and watching your videos are so educational. It makes me reassess my skills in this industry while also looking for my style that I want to stick to. Thanks for this! Waiting for the upcoming tutorials.
Lately, I have been thinking about taking videos and making contents more seriously. I have been doing short vids and vlogs but this time I wanna take it to a different level and share relatable stories of motherhood and lifestyle in general. I'm so glad I came across your videos! Subscribed right away! I have the basic gears to start but just need some advice and tips to make my videos worth watching and engaging. Thanks Matthew for sharing your knowledge about filming! Really appreciate it!
I purchased your template linked to this video. I am blown away by how helpful and worthwhile the template is. It would take me a year of trial and error to come up with something this thorough and well organized. Thank you so much for creating this and offering it for sale!
Thank you so much for your channel and this tutorial video, Matthew! You have inspired and helped me in my work and life more than once, with the help of your videos. You have a cool vibe and atmosphere!
I'm so happy to see how organized and detailed you are. Sometimes I worry I'm a freak for being so organized and detail-oriented, but your videos reaffirm that its a special trait. Also, please make a whole course on videography (using budget-friendly equipment maybe? lol)! Amazing videos, as always 👍🏼
Thank you soo much Mr. Encina for sharing your methodical process, I really appreciate that the Notion template you provided us includes real work examples, now I can get the benefits of it much easier 🙏🏻
This is gold. Just started making videos a few weeks ago and wondering how to simplify this process. Love how you use toggles to keep it organized. Thanks for sharing Matthew!
Wow the part about shooting the videos at the same time across different days is genius if you rely on natural lighting. I love that idea. I do think want I want to build though is a lighting set that always looks the same to minimize the differences in light so I can shoot at any time on different days Taking multiple shots at various depths is also genius and helps STRETCH BRoll in an engaging story telling way. I have been missing that in my videos and sometimes talked more than the amount of BRoll I had shot
Thank you! Wow so much attention to detail 🤯🙌🏼[*chefs kiss*] Watching the clips of you building out your studio, the shot list and your percise shots (watching you place each shot) were all amazing to watch. hopefully youve got more videos of the studio build process I can watch! Thanks as well for the script on your blog/site, grabbed a copy and ill take a look see where I can utilize your skill for myself👏🏼
Matthew, what an interesting video! Much appreciated, man. Since I started watching your content, I’ve purchased your Notion template. It’s very helpful to see your creative process. All the best, man!
Thank you for creating the template! I have ADHD and been struggling with organizing my thoughts and follow through all the process of making videos. This will be a game changer for me.
Two other reasons I prefer this format: 1. I have a lot more room for shot notes, and cna line it up with the exact script line. 2. When it comes time for captions, I can just copy and paste the middle column without having to reformat anything.
My god that's so organized and detailed. My video prep system is not nearly that refined. But my videos and following is also not even comparable to you so the effort pays off
Creating content is a lot of work and I like how you simplified the process. I love using Notion as well to help with the process but I'm going to have to download your template cause it looks like it will work much better than what I have. Thanks for sharing Matthew!
wow! love all the notion things you do and definitely have to take some of those things to our notion when we plan our videos. Makes our planning page seem so basic haha. Thank you for sharing your process!
This is definitely inspiring me to start making my own content, maybe with just a phone or two to start with video capture tools. Would be perfect as I’ll be doing a social media class while going through school for design, using notion for organizing.
Thanks for sharing with us your creative process. As a creative I tend to lack of organization and it sometimes discourages me. Your video helps a lot! Can’t wait to see your future videos !!
I have been waiting for this type of content! I have always been asking myself what would be your process of creating engaging, educational content. Thanks for sharing the process behind the making. I am a big fan. I've been drawing a ton of inspiration from your videos. Keep making!
This is such a great video, I see a lot of overlap between your pre-production process and the work I do as a software engineer, honestly. Really taking time to set a goal, create something, critique it, and then iterate on that it iteratively is really key to any design process. Especially love the Ideas -> Concept illustration.
Thank you for sharing your process and how you use Notion in the process with examples. I like how you use Google docs as well - for me, it's a little distracting to do all my thinking in Notion. I will check out your Notion template. Thanks for making that available.
I loved watching this thinking about the meta aspect of you doing all of those steps to film this video too. So many shots in your intro! Nice subtle touch of showing a screen capture and then showing the same screen content but from a different angle looking at the screen. Liked your reuse of shots far enough apart that the viewer has mostly forgotten, but also to reinforce concepts through repeated visuals. Watched on my TV, background sound seemed fine to me :) appreciated that the whole film was VO as i think that's the way I'd like to go and for me nothing was lost by not having you talk directly like Matt does, it was just as engaging because of your neatly refined flow. Most chill and convincing 8 minute ad I've watched in ages, haha. But the best ads also educate a heap, like this. I think it would take a lot of discipline to be this thorough as a RUclips hobbyist; knowing a video will generate sponsor income would definitely be motivating to plan and execute to plan. Thanks for the tip of annotating shots with time of day. Setting up cameras to film cameras is always odd :) absolutely gold and meta in-joke and one-liner to finish your video with, i had to rewind to check what i guessed you'd done.
Ohhh I was looking foward to this kinda contents!! Your last video production content was great tho. but that has bit lack of info for me lol THANK YOU
wow!! I need to do this, but I do videos of DIY projects, so it's sometimes very hard to predict what shot to do, I've learned to do wide shots and detail shots as I've done more videos, but I still have a long way to go, thanks for the tips, I learned a lot about being more intentional about planning out the videos. I need to control more of what will happen in them lol, sometimes things change when you're repairing or making things 👍
Totally can relate. Extra tip for you from my Notion template: think of your DIY projects as a recipe for someone to recreate. What are the 3-5 major steps to complete the recipe? Is there something novel or difficult to pay closer attention to? (Especially when unexpected).
@@MatthewEncina awesome!! you are so right, it's about the story, and I'm working on getting better at that, it's a skill and craft to develop - ya can't simply be a creator in one area nowadays, you gotta learn the art of telling the story through video - thanks!!!
