I saw this episode when it originally aired and figured out Oswin is a Dalek as soon as the Doctor asked her where she gets the milk. Right when the white Dalek interrupted him saying "this conversation is irrelevant". When it was in fact very relevant.
I think has to be my favorite Dalek episode of new who. Gives us a ton of back story into the daleks without them being the main focus, resets their relationship with the Doctor, aswell as having a heartbreaking twist at the end too with Oswin.

I can't agree with you more. I think it was also right around this time that The Flash split up Barry and Iris (who at the time were in the process of planning their wedding) for all of a single episode, just so the writers could have them get back together, so my patience for this bs would've already been low. And it hasn't gotten any more accepting. It's just a cheap ploy with no emotional weight, no reason, and no real payoff. It exists solely because Moff couldn't come up with a reason for the Ponds to be in this episode or something for them to do while they're in the asylum.
I don't mind that it was done (I would've preferred it if they hadn't, but I can see the emotional logic of it), but the *way* it was done was poor in my view. @@Moggetslittlesister Hey! Maybe this will cheer you up: I'm writing a midquel series that's apart of the series of 5-7 and it's called *Sheridan* It's a story about a girl named Nicole and her older brother, Drew, who are both trying to get their childhood crushes, Amy and Rory, to get them to be with them! Also to say, Nicole is the same age as Rory and known him since they were in Kindergarten. And Drew, her brother, is *2 years older* than Amy, but had fallen in love with her the moment he saw her. There's even one time that he showed a gesture of affection for Amy by putting his arm around her shoulder. And as the series goes, Nicole has shown to be VERY jealous/prejudice and hold a *BIG* grudge on Amy. All because that Rory loved Amy instead of Nicole. Rory _does_ love Nicole, but NOT in a _romantic way,_ he loves her like a sister, and only saw her as a friend. So basically, in all other words, of being so envious of Amy, Nicole is a *TOTAL* bully to her. And she would constantly bully her whenever she saw her.
@@Moggetslittlesister Oh yeah, and I almost forgot! In one of the episodes, Nicole couldn't take it anymore. Having been fed up with seeing her beloved crush/playmate spending a whole lot more time with Amy rather than her, decided that it was finally time; Amy had to *pay the ultimate price* for taking Rory away from her. So one day, she caught the 2 of them almost about to share a kiss, to which, in reality, it was Amy going to sexually assault Rory when Rory was commanding her no. But Nicole didn't see it that way. She thought they were doing it because of how much they loved each other. And so, she ordered Amy to get away from him and shouted at her, *"That's MY man! He's not yours!"* 🤬🤬🤬 Then she attacked Amy in a jealous rage. As the 2 girls fought, Nicole gave Amy many blows, including giving her a black eye, a bloody nose, and even kicked her in the stomach *multiple times.* She pulled her hair HARD and even splashed REALLY hot tea of *590°* right into her face too! She even called Amy a *THIEF* for "stealing" Rory from her. And even called her a, "STUPID, SELFISH, INTOLERABLE, DESPICABLE, MISCREANT!!" And when it came to the part, just as Nicole was ready for one last blow on her rival, Rory interfered and struck her to the ground. Nicole was very surprised to see Rory do that to her. After the fight, River and the Doctor immediately rushed into the scene. They heard a lot of commotion going on and they ran in to see what was going on. Nicole was also now surprised to see them too. She never heard/believed any of the stories Amy talked about her imaginary friend or her daughter being older than them; she thought all of those stories were just silly. But only this time, they were REAL right in front of her. When Rory commanded the Doctor to take Amy back to the TARDIS to get her wounds tended, he immediately obeys him. River helps out. And together, they both help Amy walk back to the TARDIS, with Amy limping badly with them. Soon, as they were leaving, Nicole gets back up to her feet and tries to apologize to Rory. But Rory angrily glares at her and strictly orders her in a stern voice, *"STAY AWAY FROM US."* 😡 Before walking away and following after his family behind. Leaving Nicole all alone by herself

Its episodes like this one that makes me not enjoy Amy as a character. She’s probably my least favorite at this point in new who. It’s because her choices often frustrate me, like how she makes decisions for other people without their input. Like getting divorced. Her reasoning is that of a child, not an adult woman who’s been in a relationship and married with a man for a few years by now. Why would she not talk to him first? Why just run off and do it, kick him out? As if that’s a show of love? To not consult him about her concerns? When she claims she loves Rory more, it actually makes me mad every time. Because her actions dont really communicate that. She just comes off as selfish, making critical decisions for her husband and not caring about how he feels or whether her actions will do more harm to him than good. Really this plot point feels melodramatic and childish. It’s so forced it takes me out of the experience. Its just too out of the blue to take seriously. I do understand the reasoning for how they write Amy’s character and it’s not bad. I feel like the loose plot writing for the rest of the story is what ends up forcing her into doing things that are frustrating to me. These seasons with Matt as the Doctor are just not as enjoyable to me and that’s largely the fault of the writing. Matt’s performance really saves it for me.
Amy: I didn't kick you out, I gave you up. Hanna: *BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!* 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 (Amy and Rory immediately their argument and whirl around to look at Hanna) Rory: Hanna??? Hanna: That is absolute bullshit! Of course he loves you more! He waits 2,000 years out a box for you! And... (She marches forward towards her and then slams Amy to the ground. She looks straight into Amy's face as she snarls) Hanna: Don't you dare say that it doesn't matter BECAUSE IT DOES!!!!!! (Amy in surprised, looks at her in astonishment. Caught by attention. Hanna continues with a snarl) Hanna: He was awake and conscious the entire time but for you it was passed in a blink of an eye! He has loved you unconditionally, pretty much for as long as you can remember him. But all you EVER did to him was treat him like a spare part! You were marrying him and yet, on your wedding night, you *NEVERED* not even one single moment had told him that you loved him! Nor that you had shown ANY compassion towards him either! You were not capable of waiting for 40 years for him and yes, I know that you were aging, but SO WHAT!? You knew that it would've been Rory who would've to come for you and yet, YOU COULDN'T!! (Amy gets herself back up and retorts her with this excuse) Amy: I don't remember any of that. It didn't happen for me. He single-handedly, dragged the Pandorica out of a burning building! He was made of _plastic_ and he walked _through the fire_ for you! And honestly, I cannot see why. He deserves to have someone who loves and appreciates him, but he settles with just needed by you! As long as you need him around, he is happy. And yet somehow, (She inches closer into her face and screams at the top of her lungs) *YOU'RE TOO HIGH AND MIGHTY TO SEE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!* (Hanna clenches both of her fists and inhales a really deep breath just as she was about to scream more at her, but pauses as Rory clips the nanoblocker around her left wrist. Hanna whirls around and stares at him and the nanoblocker for a minute before then turning back to meet Amy's gaze. Amy doesn't say anything as Hanna approaches her and says some final words to her. She says them in a calm, but stern voice) Hanna: It needed to be said. And you needed to hear it. (She glares at Amy and both of them watch Hanna walk off to the far side of the teleport pad with her face buried in her hands.)
Honestly…I was so so disappointed by this story. “Asylum of the Daleks.” Best title ever. What a genius premise. And yet, we get a huge amount of Daleks that are not insane, just broken and don’t even work properly.
Also, not to mention Amy divorcing Rory TOTALLY pisses me off!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬😡😡😡😡 For me, Rory married the _wrong_ girl because Amy is SO difficult character to dealt with and also of how the way she treated both him and the Doctor as well!!! He shouldn't have knew/married her in the first place! Don't you agree with me??
Moffat always thought having Daleks in massive numbers made them scary. But if they don’t actually do anything then what is the point. This is why bad wolf/parting of the ways, doomsday, stolen earth/journeys end work so well. Because RTD knew how to have loads of Daleks AND have them be terrifying. Whereas the Daleks aren’t really a threat in any of the eleven episodes they appear in under Moffat. The last scene of this episode with the daleks spinning around chanting ‘Doctor who?’ Like absolute idiots just makes me so mad 🤦🏻♂️ it’s such utter cringe, felt like Moffat patting himself on the back telling us how clever he is
@@megasauruss Sorry. I'm just too affected/bothered over the fact that Amy slapped him and everything. Cuz for me, I feel like Rory married the *wrong* girl. Wouldn't you agree?
I get REALLY upset over the fact that Rory married Amy! He shouldn't have married/met her in the first place!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 He married the wrong girl! He should have stayed with Nicole! (Hanna clenches both of her fists and inhales a really deep breath just as she was about to scream more at her, but pauses as Rory clips the nanoblocker around her left wrist. Hanna whirls around and stares at him and the nanoblocker for a minute before then turning back to meet Amy's gaze. Amy doesn't say anything as Hanna approaches her and says some final words to her. She says them in a calm, but stern voice)
Hanna: It needed to be said.
Yup, very disappointing story imo.
The last scene of this episode with the daleks spinning around chanting ‘Doctor who?’ Like absolute idiots just makes me so mad 🤦🏻♂️ it’s such utter cringe, felt like Moffat patting himself on the back telling us how clever he is
*EVERYTHING* is Amy's fault!!!! 😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 Anyone agree with me??
bloody hell calm down
@@dutchman8887 But it's true! Amy was a terrible companion the whole time!
literally shut up lol
@@megasauruss Sorry. I'm just too affected/bothered over the fact that Amy slapped him and everything. Cuz for me, I feel like Rory married the *wrong* girl. Wouldn't you agree?
@@megasauruss And also because I feel like Amy is such a *hard* companion to dealt with too
I get REALLY upset over the fact that Rory married Amy! He shouldn't have married/met her in the first place!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 He married the wrong girl! He should have stayed with Nicole! Nicole is an old playmate of Rory's who was the same age as him and had a *HUGE* crush on him. But then was furious and became jealous over when Rory fell for Amy. So in all words, Rory is _already_ matched up. To which he is matched up to *Nicole Sheridan*
