    MY PROFILE:
I started fishing when I was just a young kid and instantly fell in love with Bass Fishing. Started fishing tournaments when I was in high school and have been fishing them ever since. For years I fished every tournament I could enter sometimes fishing as many as 45 tournaments a year. I qualified for the Elites when I was 30 but didn't have the sponsors or money to compete so I turned it down. Got sponsor support later and fished the FLW Tour for 2 years and having been fishing the Toyotas since 2006. I’ve won 5 Angler of the Year Titles becoming the only fishermen to have more than 3 AOYs in the Toyota series. Won numerous events along the way that has helped shape my way into working for Strike King as head of product innovation. Along the way, I picked up a camera and started filming my endeavors. I have now fallen in love with making videos about fishing and delivering it to you. Follow along the journey...it should be an honest and fun ride!

That super glue not only saves you money but a lot less headache! Little bit of a hassle at first but well worth the extra time.

Todd , your analysis of what your swim jig is doing and why is spot on. Been doing pretty with meager results. I'm going to tear my jigs up and fish them with renewed confidence. Thanks for renewing my faith in them.

I have noticed this as well also with the mini max chatter bait I’ve been cut the in side of the skirt out to get less skirt and I’ve noticed more roll and more action and have gotten bit way more. The juice is out haha

I don't care what swim jig I buy before I throw it I take a piece of 24 gauge ss wire and wrap it around the skirt collar and twist it tight just to hold the skirt in place better but most of the time after I do that I cut off all the strands on the inside of the skirt that way when I'm gluing my trailer on I'm not worried about it getting all over the skirt that's left and you're 100% correct it really makes the jig run better. Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!

Agreed, rubber skirt bands are trASSh and cutting out the bottom of the skirt is definitely the way to go. It allows more water flow to the trailer giving it significantly more freedom of movement.

Bro, your video on swim jigs from last year literally changed the way I fish. Never leaves boat deck. You mentioned the superglue deal back but sounds like just made the connection to more bites with less skirt. DONE skirt is getting thinned. Btw…Hackattack will literally pull logs out of the water, loves those hooks.

I kind of gave up on using these jigs but will put them back into play after watching this hack!! Thanks for the hack, advice and encouragement!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!! 🤠👍

When going with paddletails, the Fat Rockvibe and DoLive Shad will get a jig rocking like nothing else. Cutting out the bottom of the skirt also helps more water flow get the trailer, kinda like a finesse cut jig skirt but upside down. Same with chatterbaits too. Also, with the right shaped head, weight placement on the jig itself, right length hook, right kind of skirt, along with the right minnow style trailer, you can get an actual skirted jig (instead of just jighead) to do the same thing as a Biwa Rig (mid strolling side to side rock).

I noticed the better bites with a chewed up Picasso swim jig. I couldn’t decide if it was color, action, or trailer. I have to agree it’s probably more the action from trailer than anything. I’m going to start gluing the trailers on though. They get expensive….

Todd, this was a great video. Question as I throw swim jigs daily in Iowa. Besides what you shown. I throw 1 with a craw also. Do you belief the results would be the same. I use a craw with bigger flappers.

I fish a stealth blade chatterbait a lot during fall winter spring. I’ve noticed that the more strands are missing it seems the more bites I get with it as well. Don’t know why though. Seems less strands and tail cut off a rage swimmer lets me reel it a lot faster and keep it down for reaction bites.

Would 15 pound test Fluorocarbon line give that swim jig more side roll instead of the 20-25 pound test? If your fishing open water, i would go lighter line. But in deep heavy grass does the body roll really matter?
Trimming down the strands is a good idea. Thanks
