- John Cox is going to teach you how to swim a jig. He has literally NEVER shared this information before this class with Bass University. These swim jigs tweaks, which he developed over the year, will help you catch more fish. Learn about Bassmaster Elite John Cox's favorite fishing rod with a soft tip, high speed reel & Dirty jig in Alabama bream color. Cox shares more secret tips, like which trailer he prefers and when he fishes a swim jig on fluorocarbon line. The Palomar knot is the knot of choice. For the last 3 years, he's only swam a jig with one type of chunk trailer, the Berkley maxscent meaty chunk in watermelon red color. He even shows how he rigs the trailer before demonstrating how to fish around hard cover (laydowns, rocks, docks). One of Cox's biggest tips, keep the jig in the strike zone as long as possible.

John's the Larry Bird of bass fishing. Shows up and you say, Him? You're kidding, right? And when he keeps destroying you, you still can't believe it. Boat, casting, lack of technology, on and on and on. And then one day, you finally admit it. John is one "bad" dude, a top 10 bass angler on any lake, and one of the nicest guys on the planet. And then you go home and still tell yourself he can only fish shallow. And you have nightmares of him saying, I'm just lucky to be fishing with all of you...sure you are, John.
Maxscent General off the Crestliner bow into a small puddle Nothing but net...and a 6 pounder!
Just like Bird, he's a great guy to learn from. Check out all our John Cox content at bassu.tv/bass-fishing-videos/john-cox
Please put your hand behind the lures so we can see them. Thanks
Pros these days can't fish for shit let's be honest most new pros constantly stare at a screen and weenie worm it all day
If you're fishing shallow and near the surface, why in the world would you use a 1/2oz jig? 3/8oz, and especially 1/4oz, are better options.
* Better options if you're fishing slower than John Cox.
Kinda fast and loose with the defenition of secrets I'd say... Still a good vid, but no secrets here.
John Cox says, "I've never shared this with anyone before..." the literal definition of "secret" is "something that is kept or meant to be kept unknown or unseen by others." 🤷
@@thebassuniversity Hey it is a good vid, but unless there is a longer version, there is nothing here that is "secret". Everything stated is pretty well known imo. Tips & Tricks would be more accurate tbh.
or maybe I should say "well known in Florida"...
