This video was the first one where we saw Eli's talent with backgrounds - we've seen them many times since, but as I recall, this was the first. He created it with Unseen Engine, gamer software. You should check out Enemies - another of Eli's backgrounds, but also another with a warrior feel.
Minor correction: It's Unreal Engine. I have now learned that Unseen Engine is something different.😀

#VoicePlay #TheartreKidsOfACapella. This is their first Viking song. Second was Valhalla Calling. J. None was a member when they did this. Cesar joined after J. None joined the Navy. Jose has been in three videos. This one, Hoist The Colors and Drunken Sailor. Fun fact Cesar and Jose went to high school together. Jose is two years older than Cesar.
This was the first Voiceplay song for me, fast trip down the rabbit hole and I've loved every minute.

This is one of the best versions of this song (that effect Layne did has been referred to as an electronic bong-rip 🤣) and was one of my earliest introductions to #voiceplay

My Mother Told Me is prequel to Valhalla Calling. They brought their characters back for that.
Differences....
Cesar instead of Jose. Cesar is wearing Jose's costume and Geoff's top. Geoff is using his fur as a top. J None is the guest instead of Jose.
All costumes, tattoos and makeup are the same in both.
Please do Geoff's "I See Fire" and "Rains of Castemere" videos.
This pre-dates Valhalla by some time. Also note that the current configuration of VP is Geoff, Eli, Layne and Caesar with a guest. J None was a regular for several years. Before him and Caesar was Earl. Back to the Sing-off times, the 5 were Geoff, Eli, Layne, Earl and Toni. They were urged (required) by the producers to add a female voice and that was Honey. If you watch Just Sing, which is a Quarantine release, turn on the captions. :You will see many more members and guests. It is really quite a ride.
Actually, Tony Wakim was the baritone prior to J and then Cesar. Earl was one of the founders and was their high tenor. He left before J went into the Navy and hadn’t been replaced. (And Layne was baritone before Tony!). Eli has the same range and has taken over the high tenor, although Cesar and J can sing quite high also. (Hear them in Lion Sleeps Tonight)
Taking nothing from the genius that is Voiceplay, but speaking of Vikings, The Bass Gang just released a banger cover of If I Had a Heart.
Valhalla calling is actually the sequel to this song 😃

Valhalla Calling is the follow up to this video. Their clothing and body paint are almost if not exactly the same. (I think Geoff shed the shirt and wrapped the fur. That's what I recall without checking.) Cesar there is wearing the hooded cloak Jose is wearing here.
Jose (ho-zay) Rosario Jr. is one of my favorite guests! No one does a pirate/Viking/sailor like him! Also, he has this little nose scrunch thing he does that's just so darn cute. Oh! And side note, apparently he and Cesar went to school together (Jose looks about 10 years older, but I suck at judging ages) and I read somewhere when they first colabed after Cesar joined the group, they were so surprised to see each other!
Jose is slightly older than Cesar. They were in theater performances together in high school.

@@DravenGal In the BTS for HOIst the Colours , they said that they were in their HS production of Les Mis and at one point, Jose had to carry Cesar up some stairs. Their reunion was absolutely adorable.

This may sound familiar to you. In addition to being the theme for the TV program The Vikings, the song is used in the game Assassin’s Creed.
Cesar is wearing Jose’s robe in Valhalla Calling. Cesar was a full-time member by that time and J was appearing as their guest artist.
I love Eli’s crazed performance in this.
Jose appeared in two other full videos: Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3. In the behind the scenes, we got to see Cesar and Jose they went to high school together and appeared in their school’s production of Les Mis . José is also in a hilarious version of What Do You Do with a Sunken Sailor as well as a few of their Minis.

Have you seen their The Drganborn Comes from the game Skyrim? Yet another costume piece but very different from this although still with that warrior feel. This one was before J left and Cesar joined the group.

Nice reaction! I'd like to commend you folks for knowing the names of the artists, especially a group like #VoicePlay where the members change from one video to another, since you're viewing them out of chronological order. Getting the names right is something a lot of reactors don't manage for quite a while (if at all), and you two have nailed it!
The lineup between this video and Valhalla Calling is a little odd. J. None was a permanent member when this video was shot, with Jose Rosario Jr. as the featured artist. By the time VP did Valhalla Calling, J. None had joined the US Navy in their chorus, and so was the featured artist (he would fly back to Florida when he had leave). Cesar had joined the group as J. None's replacement - and he wore the costume that Jose Rosario Jr. wore in MMTM! So It's a complicated web, but fun once you figure it all out!
There was alot of trial and error but thank you foe your support 😂

The true king of Viking music is Peyton Parrish he has two versions of this song he sings it in English and the other version is in Old Norse ( Viking language). He has full albums of Viking rock/ metal, chants and metal core.
Ah the irony of music.
Going out on a limb here to say Peyton doesn't even come close to any authentic viking music, since electric instruments didn't exist in those days. Nothing against him. He does channel modern Norse, just not ancient.

I like this SO much better than Valhalla Calling, which I don’t care for. (Fastest way to ruin a song for me is to rap in it.)
