H&K's First Micro Compact 9mm: The SFP9CC!

  • Опубликовано: 28 фев 2023
  • In this episode of TFBTV, ‪@JamesReeves‬ is at EnforceTac in Nuremberg Germany on February 28, 2023 to see the public unveiling of the impressive, first "one and a half stack" micro compact 9mm handgun from ‪@HecklerKochTV‬: The SFP9CC. This Heckler & Koch pistol will compete directly with pistols like the Sig P365 and Springfield Hellcat. The pistol will be very similar to the successful VP9 series of pistols. The SFP9CC will have a modular chassis, meaning that the fire control unit will bear the serial number, and the operator can swap frames and slides without having to buy another "gun" in the legal sense. The end user can buy one "gun" and then swap frames, slides, and grip panels. At launch, the slides available will be optics ready and iron sights only versions. The two launch frames will both be sized to fit flush with 10+1 round 9mm magazines, but one will have a Picatinny rail and one will not. There will also be six backstraps to choose from: small, medium, or large in beavertail and non-beavertail configuration. This is one of the most exciting pistols to come from H&K in a long time, so make sure you watch the video and make sure to subscribe to ‪@TFBTVShowTime‬ to see the rest of the content from EnforceTac and IWA.

    Ask HK if they will have a Hammer version?? With the popularity of appendix carry, I don't understand why companies are not releasing hammer pistols so a person can "thumb" their hammer as they re-holster so they don't shoot their family jewels off by accident. Also, German Special Forces has a tender for a new pistol, it's due next week. What is HK submitting?? That modular version??

    • @124thDragoon
      @124thDragoon Год назад

      I think the striker indicator mentioned in this video is exactly what you’re asking for. Walther had it on their PPS line of single stack handguns - the striker has an extension at the rear of the slide that sticks out when the trigger is being pulled. You can feel it with the pad of your thumb as you re-holster. You can also buy aftermarket striker plates for your Glock that function the same way.
      Hammer mechanisms need more vertical real estate where the slide and frame meet than what this pistol allows. Hammer length is directly related to strike energy; too short a hammer, not enough energy to reliably set off a primer. You could counteract this with an even stronger hammer spring, but this would siphon too much energy from the slide on its rearward stroke. All of this is a large part of why the industry moved to striker mechanisms. They’re much easier to engineer a low bore axis out of. They could probably design a hammer-based mechanism but it would absolutely require a completely different frame, and couldn’t possibly share the same modular FCU.

      @@124thDragoon thanks for this post. I have a p30SK from LTT and love it. And, I assumed maybe if they could engineer that, the market for such a pistol would be too small to justify the investment.
