- ** Check out this Skillshare class by the director Nguyen-Anh Nguyen, about indie filmmaking and how he made the Akira Project and his newest project, Temple. skl.sh/anh **
The Akira Project is a crowd-sourced, non-profit project meant to create a live action fan trailer of AKIRA, the renowned manga-turned-anime film from the late 1980′s; a stunning example of both mediums as art forms. While Hollywood has been working on a live-action Akira movie for a few years now, we, as fans, wanted to take a shot at making our own adaptation. A chance to stick as close to the source material as possible. A chance to do Akira Justice.
We launched an Indiegogo campaign in July 2012 as part of a crowd sourcing effort to make this project come to life. Many people contributed not just financially but offered their time and talent to help the production that was shot in Montreal, Quebec from November 2-5th 2012. What started out as a simple idea between two guys having a beer (Hey! It'd be cool to see Kaneda ride his bike around Neo-Tokyo!), became a global endeavour, filled with adventures and hurdles, involving more than 40 artists in 12 different countries.
After a year and a half in post-production, we are proud to present the project to Akira fans the world over. We hope to have done justice to the timeless work of Katsuhiro Otomo and look forward to, someday, seeing the full scope of the Akira story translated to the big screen as a live-action.

Hey! My name is Simu and I play Lt. Yamada. Though my role in the trailer may have been short, I can totally attest to the fact that Anh and the folks over at Cineground in Montreal are a top-notch team and I really hope that this project ends up receiving the exposure it so deserves. Thanks for watching and continue to support the project!
Hey Simu, i just watched Shang Chi, it has been a journey and i can't believe you're the first leading Asian superhero to be in Marvel and i'm so proud of you, you're such a hard work person, seeing you never gave up on your acting journey since Kim's Convenience, it has been 7 years and idk if you still had this account. But i just wanted to say that i'm so proud of you and you gave me fire to make my dream come true, that never give up. You're killing it Simu, wish you the best.
Already legend, Simu! Grateful you lent your talent to this amazing trailer.
8 years later and wow 👏
shang chi at 2:22
It's so nice to just be here.
I'm extremely disappointed by the fact that Hollywood will probably never be able to make something this epic. One of the best trailers I've ever seen, and it's for a movie that doesn't even exist!
Wow, me too.
Edit: me at 15
Sadly even if they did you can bet that they would utterly white wash it with Caucasian American actors playing every major roll. .....
No such thing as whitewashing you racist puck
lol .....puck ?
Because Hollywood Sucks
If they decide to make a live action movie, they definitely should keep the main actors Japanese. I think it's important for the integrity of the story.
Or to avoid Chinese censors while also keeping the story's integrity set the movie in a NEO HONG KONG? If you think about it, there are many ways to connect AKIRA and its themes with Hong Kong's own struggle to have its own identity amidst an authoritarian hold (note the student protests in Hong Kong). What do you think?
***** Good point.
The reason I had suggested Hong Kong was because I felt the the protestor and youth rebellion aspect of AKIRA would have fit nicely with Hong Kong's struggle to have its own identity while being under the influence of a bigger authority (from the suppression of its own democratic values to student protests).
I can't agree more. This is Anima gold. I have never watched the English version of Akira in my life, and never will. But it does look awesome!
They won't because asian people don't sell
Yeah they fucking better.
the final scene will give everyone a mental scar in live action
Thats if they do the CGI Right
@@xGrifDog96x Imagine they went with practical effects? All blood and guts from local butchers?
it doesn't even have to be blood and guts, it just has to be well-made and physically present.
Number one rule about making an Akira trailer. Do NOT, spoil ANYTHING about Tetsuo's condition or powers. Make it seem like it is only about cyberpunk biker gangs, and let Tetsuo's powers be entirely surprising to people who have never seen/read the original.
Unfortunately if you're using that trailer for funding you don't have much choice. You need to show potential investors 1) what you're capable of doing, and 2) what they can expect. You'd probably see a completely different trailer if this were for an actual finished film in the can.
This could be the only live action Akira anything that fans get ( provided Hollywood doesn't get their hands on it) so I'm happy to see what fans might have done with the project.
not to mention that Akria is so influential that everything has been pretty much spoiled already. it's like telling someone making an FF7 movie to not give away who dies.
XDomeMan Still, its just such a surprising plot to those who don't see it coming. I'd hate to ruin for the few who don't already know about the fantasy elements of the plot.
Unless you're going to read the actually manga, it's pretty hard to give anything in Akira away in even a 5 minute trailer. I watched the animated film long before I finally read the story, and discovered I still had no clue what was going to happen.
also this isnt for a real movie that will be made so it doesnt matter
I get the feeling that your fan made trailer is gonna be better than the entire film that Hollywood will give us, did an amazing job though :)
Its sad how truthful this is.
Ain't that the truth of it.
Agreed
That's just because in chopped up trailer videos you don't pay as much attention to horrible cgi, acting, cheesy lines, pacing, ect.
iNunky no its because Hollywood is fucked up and makes movies for the average trashy families(theres way more dumb people than smart ones) to secure their income. Doesnt surprise me if they throw in Jar Jar Binkz
nice to see Simu Liu before his prime. now he’s a Marvel Kung Fu legend
I literally got chills.
Akira was such an important part of my youth. It is a story that deserves to be told in live action film.
Not by 2020 Hollywood, Netflix maybe.
I’d trust this team with it.
now we have to imagine a shit made by hollywood, with Jennifer Lawrence
+steven perez henriquez hahaha, man, so true, see the BS they are pulling with ghost in the shell? that's just sad.
yeah just like how bollywood ripped off the matrix
If Hollywood is still going to make an AKIRA movie, considering how China is gaining box office prominence, probably the best way to adapt AKIRA (note that I have only seen the movie, haven't read the manga yet) is to change the setting from NEO TOKYO to NEO HONG KONG. While this would technically be pandering to an anti-Japanese China, it would also be used as an excuse to make the themes of AKIRA feel more real world. The thing about Hong Kong is that they have always had this struggle to gain their own identity as they are constantly put under the control of greater powers. I has once read someone's interpretation of the AKIRA movie that the conflict of AKIRA and Tetsuo himself represented Japan's struggle for its place in the world due to westernized influence and a more westernized government. I should alos mention that this was the reason why the 1995 GHOST IN THE SHELL movie took place in Hong Kong instead of Tokyo, because director Oshii saw that Hong Kong's identity crisis could be used to symbolize Motoko's own identity crisis in the movie. Now take into account that in Hong Kong, due to China's still strict hold on Hong Kong's more democratic values, there have been student protests, similar to what happens in AKIRA's NEO TOKYO, so if the themes of AKIRA were played with to fit this then this movie could be a potential hit in China and if marketed right it could be a hit in the US and show Hollywood that you are able to use more unknown actors or actors of different ethnicities in a big movie (if successful). Now insert very artsy (or experienced) director to make said film. What do you think? Could my NEO HONG KONG setting idea work for AKIRA?
I don't think that would necessarily be better (maybe a little) considering the tense relations between HK and mainland.
illusionmess That's true.
Still gives me chills every time I watch this. I honestly would 100% believe this was going to be a movie if I didn't know it was a fan-trailer. Amazing how close they got to the look and feel of both the anime and manga, much of this is scene for scene. Tetsuo in particular looked and acted EXACTLY as see him in my imagination. Can't praise this enough, and I wish that anyone who DOES get a CG or (better) real Akira movie greenlit hires each and every one of your team, all the way down to the coffee runner.
Akira, even with how old it is, is still one of the greatest movies of all time in my opinion.
You did a good job.
Can't wait to see the live action real version of this movie with an all white cast straight out of a GAP commercial, set in Neo-San Fransisco where the major problem is Star Bucks has put so much caffeine in their coffee that the kids started getting super angst powers (powers that can only be activated when they feel angst towards the establishment) It's gonna be hella awesome.
Eethan O'Connell you better hurry up and write that out into a script/book lol
*****
:) Catch the angsty fever in 2017!
is that what it's about sounds awesome
ブロンディブラック I agree.
+Eethan O'Connell Don't forget a PG-13 rating and a happy ending where they save the city with the power of love.
The only piece of my childhood I'd like to see remade.
The last piece of my childhood i´d like to remain unspoiled!
No, its still gorgeous to this day
It makes me sad that this isn't an actual movie. So many times would I go to see this.....
you and me both
...Would you really? If that was made by a hollywood studio and released to theaters?
Depends if they white wash it or not.
@@ryzacobalion3622 google Akira Live Action Splooged on Summer Release
Its getting a live action
`when I saw the thumbnail in red letters in the heading along with "Live Action", my response was "no fkg WAY!"
As the trailer rolled I could not believe the cinematic level of accuracy among the characters compared to their manga/cartoon counterparts; THE motorcycle; Tetsuo and Keneda; the sports stadium; THE red cape Tetsuo fashioned to cover his arm whipping in the breeze as he stood on the rubble staring Keneda down, and my response was "no FKG WAY!!"
Being denied even a glimpse of his outward physical transformation and knowing I wouldn't as the blast wave filled the screen; my response was "NO FKG WAY!!!"
perusing the 'about' section and coming to the horrifying realization this was ONLY a TRAILER and this project's team ISN'T the team producing the live action version, and that it's been in production "...for years", my reaction was "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..... fkg way......"
Just goes to show, we now have the tools.... ...now all that needed, is the craftsmanship.
welp, here I am in 2022 entirely impressed. This was a hell of a job well done. AMAZING work. I have been a life long fan of the manga, all dub versions and original Japanese. The actors were perfect, the effects spot on, the intensity just right. Perfection. so good. Thank you for doing it justice.
Congrats on getting a guy that actually looks like Tetuso
I was actually pretty impressed by that as well.
Watching this made my eyeballs feel like they had just won the lottery.
If Hollywood actually decided to due this story properly, I feel like it would require at least a trilogy. One movie covering two volumes, but then, that might not be enough. If not, I'd gladly welcome a fourth part. Whatever it takes.
+Allen Babylon You know what ? Nolan wants to do it. A trilogy based on Akira ! Life's beautiful. (inlove)
PLEASE MAKE THIS MOVIE A REALITY!!!!
To avoid CHINA banning it for having Japanese characters, the movie could take place in a NEO HONG KONG, which while seemingly pandering to the Chinese govn't would actually be used to take the themes, conflict, and struggles in AKIRA to the next level. Do you agree?
fuck China. Make this fucking movie
This is a fanmade trailer.
Not sure why folks think this can't be done with Asian folks. This totally rocked my socks off. Great job!
They're **supposed** to be Japanese in the manga and anime, lol ^=^
***** Id be pissed if anyone who wasnt japanese was in it. Its not an american story.
Duane Drew Lol, exactly. It's in Neo TOKYO, lol!
Duane Drew
Doesn't matter really. Themes/characters trump everything.
You should have seen the original cast list. Not one person was Asian, YET they had given these white people Japanese names. C'mon now!
This 5 minute trailer will probably be better than any full length Akira adaptation that Hollywood adapts. You should make this a full movie.
Every single time I watch this, I cry afterwards because there isn't a full-length version. This is seriously some of the most beautiful footage I have ever seen.
HAVE BEEN A FAN OF AKIRA 4 MANY YEARS FAN TRAILER AWESOME THANK YOU
:)
Absolutely amazing. I've watched this trailer several times, it never gets boring, and I want to see the entire movie now! The Akira Project deserve a standing ovation for creating a trailer that not only plays like a commercially produced, professional cinematic trailer, but is hands down an an awesome interpretation of Katsuhiro Otomo's classic Akira. From what I can see, this draws from the first two (or three) volumes of manga for plot, with visual style inspired by the anime. Sound effects for the digital titles, muted color palette, and background city images, seem appropriately Blade Runner-inspired, and the Deus Ex music is a perfect background soundtrack. Digital FX is awesome and seamless; seeing Kaneda's jacket and motorbike for real in a movie gave me goosebumps in a good way!!! Great cast- acting seemed experienced and professional, especially Osric Chau as Kaneda. Rating it five stars as an Akira adaptation (4 1/2 stars as a movie trailer in general). Bravo and hope you guys make the full film :)
This is amazing. Considering it's a fan made trailer. I loved it. Akira is one of my favorite stories. And unlike many others that were commenting on this video, I think that Akira is an amazing story. Yes it is confusing but oh my glob it has such amazing characters. The story line is actually really amazing. I also loved the manga, although it was completely different than the manga it was still a mind blowing movie that had an amazing story line as well. If you have read all the manga's and watched the movie it's like two separate strong stories. Like a different version for each. Akira is my favorite movie and seeing your guys' trailer warms my heart. This is stunning. Great job.
Absolutely stunning.
Remember this comment
Absolutely garbage!
pretty cool for a fan trailer and the deus ex music goes well with it too. hollywood should never mess with this classic. this is very tolerable. great job guys.
thanks. we're glad you enjoyed it. :)
You guys clearly put a lot of work into this, so congratulations to you. Unfortunately, there will never be a live action adaptation of AKIRA that could live up to the spirit of the original. Why? Because mainstream audiences don't care about artistry, don't want to see gore, and would find the plot confusing. I can't tell you how many people have said to me "AKIRA is just eye candy. It doesn't mean anything." That is the kind of atmosphere you are dealing with. The people who really care about AKIRA understand it and appreciate what it is, for what it is. It is not for everyone.
America already have it's own version of Akira it's called Chronicle
Tyrel Litte Are you even familiar with Akira ? Chronicle doesn't even look close to Akira.. Dumbass..
Logic Step lol pretty much plot wise yes. Except karida has powers too in chronicle
Its not foot the mainstream audiences. They just want the funding to make a proper movie and you're very wrong about audiences not wanting to see gore. Prometheus made zero sense without the deleted scenes and that was a big time seller.
I laugh at kids who want to break it into the film industry and think all they need is their dreams. This is incredible talent with a pure eye for direction and tone. The person behind this has a bright future ahead of him.
Awesome. This has to happen, I've seen the original and have the DVD. You guys did more than just do it justice, you fully honored the Anime and the artist. Well done.
And that absolutely shows that Akira has absolute potential to adapt it in live-action, as long as it is in good hands.
I don't normally care for Fan Trailers, but I got to say you guys did some good work here. Very legit.
If they ever did do an Akira movie I would hope that it would follow the mangas. The first movie could be the street violence and gang warfare and end with Tetsuo swallowing up half of Tokyo and Kanada. The second could be Tetsuo against the military with Akira's resurection and end with Tetsuo landing infront of him (no words, just that, a drumb, and then black). Then the last movie would be all the WW4 stuff and the people seeing Tetsuo as the second coming of Christ.
Everything you said should be.
This was fantastic.
Really captured the feel of the anime, it left me wanting more.
Wow, it's been a long time since I saw that anime. But yes, it does seem to do a very good job capturing what I remember.
Heeeeyyy! The guy playing Kaneda it's the same guy who plays as Kevin Tran on Supernatural. This looks very close to the source material (which is a good thing).
[Q&A] Help for those who had a hard time understanding the story. (Feel free to add on or make corrections).
1) Q: Why are those kids skin weird?
A: The kid's skin is wrinkly because they are actually in their 40's. Their skin is a
different color because of genetic tampering.
2) Q: Why did the government wanted to do those experiments?
A: Wanted to gain the power of God.
3) Q: Why did the government do experiments on Tetsuo?
A: Tetsuo got his power from one of the kids, the government wanted to see how his
body would react.
4) Q: Why did government bother doing these experiments again when they know that it
caused trouble in the first place?
A: The government never learned from their mistake, they thought the Akira incident
was just an accident.
5) Q: Why does Tetsuo have weird mind hallucinations?
A: The kids see him as a threat, they mess with him to stop him.
6) Q: Why the hell does Tetsuo care that he's pretty much Princess Peach?
A: He becomes arrogant with his powers. He sees himself as a God. (Lucifer before
the fall).
7) Q: Why is Tetsuo such an asshole after getting super powers?
A: He was bullied constantly by fellow bikers, including Kaneda. He uses powers to
give them a taste of their own medicine.
8) Q: What the hell was Kai talking about in scene in the prison?
A: She explains that Akira is ultimate energy, it is the source of all human energy. Just
as Amoebas can't build houses humans can't play God.
9) Q: Why does Tetsuo turn into a gross giant monster at the end?
A: He loses control of his powers to the point that his powers control him.
10) Q: Why does Tetsuo beg for mercy in the end? He had it coming.
A: He is just 15 years old and doesn't understand the consequences of his actions
because he never had any parental figures, only an older brother figure (Kaneda).
11) Q: Why does the Movie just stop?
A: The conclusion is open-ended for people to reflect on what they saw and interpret
it how they wish.
Basically but not entirely accurate. I'd like to add my own 2 Cents.
1) Q: Why are those kids skin weird?
A: They aren't kids. They are actually really old. The Drugs & Experiments used on them to give & help them control their powers changed their Skin pigmentation and permanently retarded their bodies' development. Basically they grew old... they just never grew up.
2) Q: Why did the government wanted to do those experiments?
A: Short Answer? They wanted something to make the nuclear weapons obsolete. So they performed genetic, eugenic, & other experiments to promote the advancement and development of psychic espers after their discovery. In doing so they basically discovered the power of god and it blew up in their faces... LITERALLY!
3) Q: Why did the government do experiments on Tetsuo?
A: The Government Experimented on Tetsuo, because he ALREADY had the powers and they detected. They were just dormant and Latent until he came into contact with Esper #26 AKA Takeshi's Power. It latent with Tetsuo's latent powers unleashing them. Basically he released the cork on Tetsuo's bottled up Powers All the government did was help him learn to harness his powers and give him drugs to help him temporarily boost & control them. Then he went nuts... As to his power's origins it's pure speculation. There are some subtle & vague hints about his mother being a forgotten/escaped test subject in the manga but that's it.
4) Q: Why did government bother doing these experiments again when they know
that it caused trouble in the first place?
A: Who doesn't want Absolute Power? Other than that they saw it as a genie that they let out of the bottle. They couldn't put it back in so they tried to find a way to harness, control, & prevent it from literally blowing up in their faces again. They failed... MISERABLY!
5) Q: Why does Tetsuo have weird mind hallucinations?
A: Basically yeah they saw him as a threat but there was a bit more to it. He was already having flashbacks and hallucinatory episodes before contact with them The other Esper "Children" were literally screwing with his mind... this combined with the instability of his powers and state of mind at the time... and well HELLO FULL BLOWN HALLUCINATION TRIP!!!
6 & 7) Q: Why the hell does Tetsuo care that he's pretty much Princess Peach?
Q: Why is Tetsuo such an asshole after getting super powers?
A: These 2 questions are basically the same question Phrased different ways while sharing the same answer. It wasn't just arrogance. He had deep seeded inferiority complex that was the result of being always being bullied & forced to submit to everyone else "protection" due to being "weak" & powerless. Once he gained strength in the form of his power he unleashed that built up resentment on any and all who he saw as trying to bully and/or protect him... which was basically everyone and thing in his path.
8) Q: What the hell was Kai talking about in scene in the prison?
A: Not really. It wasA bunch of pseudo intellectual bullshit that basically boils down to we played god and we payed the price for tampering with something that can't be controlled.
9) Q: Why does Tetsuo turn into a gross giant monster at the end?
A: Not really. The manga does a much better job of explaining it. Basically his power had grown beyond the ability of his body to contain... so it subconciously started to assimilate things from the rest of the world in a desperate attempt to increase it's ability to contain its power and keep it from killing him.
10) Q: Why does Tetsuo beg for mercy in the end? He had it coming.
A: Basically. He was desperate for help & any release from his torment & as a result realized he had it coming
11) Q: Why does the Movie just stop?
A: Yes and no... Basically they wrote themselves into a wall. The Movie basically hits the climax about 2 acts early while simultaneously writing the Title Character out of the film. In the manga Akira was a very definite character and used as a figurehead in in Tetsuo's country created after Akira blew up Tokyo a SECOND time... Then he was used once again as a legend in the manga's epilogue where Kaneda Kei and the rest of the residents of Tokyo have chosen to secede from the rest of the Japan and world under his name. Since the the Movie jumps straight to the climax and the last half of the manga never happens... this cant happen. So basically the reason the movie just stops is because it literally hit a dead end after the climax as everything AFTER the climax has no basis and makes absolutely no sense. Due to this they just ended the movie abruptly with Tetsuo's creation of another big bang in order to leave it up to interpretation.
Mene Tekel Who's watching this that hasnt watched Akira tho
***** Thank you for the explanation. This was such a hard movie to understand. All I can say is..Tetsuo did not deserve to die....I blame the government and none of this would have happened if they did not freak the kid out.
I really hate that Tetsuo baby morph scene
Kenneth Eaton I know his mother is mention in the first volume, but what other volumes was she mentioned in?
Edit:I think that other little girl in volume four may be Tetsuo's mom.
this is infinitely superior than what Hollywood can come up with.
Ok, John Titor.
If Hollywood actually respected source material they could make a superior film. Hollywood films tend to "look" fantastic, but they have no faith in the audience to support stories that aren't spoon fed to them, and they've pretty much raised a generation of film goers that want simple films that don't require much thought, filled with lots of spectacle. Secondly they are hard pressed to have a large Asian cast be the lead actors in a big budget film of this magnitude. We're unfortunately in one of the worst possible times to try and make a faithful live action adaptation of Akira.
If they make a Trinity blood movie Deitech puppetmaster would be played by Robbie Amell and Ian SomerHandler as Abel nightroad , also Rosario Dawson would be the girl nun
c'est du sacré bon boulot ...
AWESOME!
***** nobody likes anything Michael bay directed.
wookieg98 Me :)
wookieg98 I agree don't let him near this!
It doesn't feel like a trailer. It just looks like random scenes put together. If I didn't see Akira already I wouldn't know what this is about.
I would argue that we already have a live action AKIRA. Its called 'the Chronicle'. But this looks really promising.
@YokuMasaki
You cant please everyone.
I thought it was awesome. And quite similar to Akira, theme- and character-wise (obviously not in terms of plot).
Wavemaninawe then don’t call it live action AKIRA?
@YokuMasaki what? Chronicle is good. Definitely not akira, but with it, I think Akira is possible. Chronicle was made with limited budget. Imagine similar skill implemented with higher budget cuts and more expensive casts.
@@norpanmekk
IMO it takes several ingredients to make a story.
Chronicle uses some of the same themes and very similar characters as AKIRA. Hence the comparison.
AKIRA the anime isnt very similar to the manga either, having cut out half the characters and some 75% of the plot. But it is still obviously inspired by the source material and a good story in its own right.
@@Wavemaninawe Agree, definitely got Akira vibes in Chronicle. Specifically in the 3rd act. But I'm definitely not happy Hollywood has gotten their hands on the Akira live action. They have a tendency of messing those up.
A live action version of Akira? That's definitely going to su--
wow...
Incredible O_O
Fantastic work!!! Now make the rest!
I can't remember ever getting goosebumps from a trailer before. Brilliant work.
Now this is how you do a live action version of the classic anime.
yo no soy mucho de anime pero AKIRA es uno que si he visto y que de verdad me gusta! me parece que el trabajo que hicieron estos chamos es demasiado bestial... y son solo fans!!!! EXCELENTE TRABAJO!!!
How in the lord's name is this not viral? You guys need to make yourselves more public. I'm sure people would support you all if they'd see this.. I barely knew about this till now.
we need more people spreading the word- we're doing as much as we can for marketing it.
Hats off to you guys. I'm blown away, and I love how close the live action material relates to the original. Fantastic job!!
As a fan of "Akira" this trailer is splendid. All the more because they are speaking in English. Great casting. Seeing the red motorbike and the red jacket gave me goosebumps. The teddy bear was scarily amazing. If they indeed make a real live action movie of Akira I sincerely hope that they will have your team be a part of it. You've captured the essence of Akira immensely if not perfectly.
I agree. Speaking English is fine, at least they are Asian cast.
Wow, I'm impressed! If the official Hollywood live action adaption won't go to great lengths to make it like this, then they may as well drop production.
the bike looks perfect
ITS CYBER PUNK,
NOT INTERNET CHEAP CG AND
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL LIKE ACTING,
good try thou : )
Man To Marco Ho picky.. Bet you couldn't make it any better dude. Don't hate unless you have the talent as well. You have no clue the work they put into it, so be happy someone at least tried to bring Akira to life, and probably did a way better job than Hollywood would've.
Ronnell Copeland So in your world critics don´t exist. You can´t say anything bad about anything unless you make it better. What a retarded line of though.
And i agree that it is cheap CG, if someday someone makes a full lenght live action akira, i expect it to be groundbreaking just like the anime, and not a half assed low budget attempt.
I do believe in constructive criticism, but its annoying as hell when people just flat out bash someone for trying... they're not Micheal fucking Bay. If they used (in your opinion) "shitty CG" to make a FAN vid.... then they did a kick ass job at using it, and making it not look complete garbage.
It´s fine for a fan made unique project which could turn out great, but Akira using this quality of effects is dreadful, it´s shitting on a masterpiece. Kinda like the horrible Street Fighter series with bad effects and worse wigs i keep seeing trailers about lately, even though i´m fine with whatever you do with street fighter.
I hope the production company sees this and will know what it will take to make a good film. Akira fans will not tolerate garbage. Everything needs to be on point. Acting, Music, Graphics, EVERYTHING ON POINT.
This was simply amazing. So aesthetically pleasing! The live-action is mixed so will with CI. Great job. I really hope this gets made!
Hey, it's Kevin from Supernatural! Looks great, though its making me want to go watch the original now.
That's pretty fricken awesome. And likewise on the original.

VERY good for fan made. Still think the best way to handle live action Akira would be to serialise the *whole thing* though. I love the animated film but it's a miracle that it's so coherent when they cut so much of the books material out.
What i love the MOST is that producers of this "Live Action trailer" never disregarded "manga" part of Akira and even showed us some shots that weren't in the original Anime Movie.
Great job guys !
At the beginning of the trailer, it says "AD 2030"
Isn't the movie set in 2019?
+Leonardo Topić Depends if you are talking about the manga or the anime. We're fans of the manga ourselves... ;)
The Akira Project Oh, i forgot about that.
+Leonardo Topić The film, yes, it's 2019. The manga, it's 2030
2019 is too close to now, so it's silly. The rule of cyberpunk is generally "30 years from now", so 2019 would make sense for 1988 Akira.

Anime Akira is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen.
This wasn't too bad.
Absolutely fantastic. I really want to see this made in completion. Don't hold back!
I came here looking for something about the Hollywood movie and I'm pretty confident saying that this is gonna be far better of anything Hollywood can come up with. Amazing job guys!
better than what Hollywood will do
the best fan made trailer ever awesome work guys
If the Akira live action movie looked EXACTLY like this, I would be beyond happy. You guys did a really great job
Ive waited my whole life for this. This is the first true anime i ever watched.
I'm coming from BeHaind and it's awesome :D
That climate of cyberpunk... Well done, guys
:)
Other than some issues with stiff posing (number 26 and subsequently tetsuo on the ground) this is damn near flawless.
I almost cry with this.. Absolutely marvelous! Superb!! Hollywood have to learn. Amazing job guys.
I knew it! Kevin isn't dead. He just turned into Kaneda. If watch Supernatural you might know what I'm talking about
at first you had my curiosity...now you have my attention.
Cool fan made trailer for one of my favorite anime! A live action Akira movie! Would be cool to see it as a live action movie! Great job on making this trailer!
Geinō Yamashirogumi is part of the soul of Akira
MaQuGo119 your right, if there isn't the original soundtrack it isn't akira.
Holy shit that was incredible, shame this is only a fan made trailer, because I really would go to see the full movie, very good work guys.
thanks
@@SecondTomorrow when Akira project will be to creating ? To see in a cinéma ?
I WOULD PAY MONEY TO SEE THIS!!!
This was so well done! Nice work!
I would love to see a movie project like this come into full fruition. Fantastic job, guys :)
Why DXHR music?
If Akira was known for one thing aside from its animation, it's its bizarre gamelan-style music.
the cgi is also pretty shit. I mean, yeah, it is crowd funded, but that doesn't meant you shouldn't be able to get smooth animation and know where to fucking put the shades on buildings.
Kaneda calm down its fan made. What salt shaker did you plop out of
@@kaneda7368 imagine being so triggered of an unofficial, fanmade trailer lmfao weeabs
@@anopiniononyt9585 you're right.
Saw the rumors surface that Christopher Nolan could be directing a trilogy of Akira movies.... I feel like an excited kid on christmas eve.
I wish I could give this more thumbs up!! I loved this movie, and think this was an awesome project. Great Job!!!
Thank you for this awesome trailer!!! I hope someday this live-action movie will come true.
Yes I'll take the red pill please.
Looking forward to this.
me 2
Atzy Nope. They confirmed that it was going to be a full length fan made movie.
Just rewatched the original ...again, then stumbled onto this. Remarkably well done! Bravo!!
The scene with kaneda holding the gun with Yamagata make me thrill.... Congratulations for this powerfull trailer!!!! Really to be watched in a cinema!!!
This was surprisingly well made.
anyone notice Kevin Trang from supernatural
Fucking kevin
sure dude!
I was like "Kevin?" Awesome...
Very but VERY impressive you guys, I hope you all can do more with these in the future!
for a fan made trailer, you did a amazing job!! 👍
Are we like totally done with creativity and originality?
Hey! Write a magazine article about this and why it's the worse thing evar for someone to make a high quality work based on a preexisting franchise, maybe you'll get 4chan behind this movie. It worked with MLP.
They are trying to make something like the original AKIRA story (the manga)
Got all my support.
If you need any riders count me in! :)
omg I'm actually crying because of how beautiful and impressive this is D':
I make a pilgrimage every year back to this trailer!
So, that's what happened to Kevin after he died on Supernatural. He became Kaneda.
thats literally what i was thinking haha+1
It looks nice, just don't spoil it like Hollywood did to DragonBall. Will like to see Spirited Away.
Hire this man to make the movie. Since it's up for grabs now.
SO good. Congratulations on this chaps, a splendid effort
Very nice. I'd pay money to watch this.
Wow looks amazing. I cannot wait. Truly cannot wait.
It's not happening the project was just for this trailer
Why invest in it if the movie is not going forward? Seems a waste to me.
Yuri Dobryansky its a fan-trailer, red the description
Pretty cool this is not taken offline. I get my Akira stuff pulled offline all the time.
These guys have done more than the movie industry in the last 30 years
