I love all these old movies especially Mandan Moreland, he’s in a class of his own. I don’t think some of those productions would of made it without him!
Mantan Moreland was ahead of his time I still till this day watching his movies before I go too bed these movies you will not see today those were the good old days I cherish watching these good old movies still 😊
Love Mantan Moreland these movies like this never get tired of watching them these movies y won’t ever see again I till this day enjoy/ cherish watching them thanks
Mantan Moreland was my cousin. I was wondering if he had any children. My mother Mildred Elizabeth Moreland mentioned he was a Hollywood star, when we were growing up but we never met him. I wish I knew if he had children. I'd love to connect with someone. Does he have a STAR on HOLLYWOOD's walk of fame? He should!
If it is true that he WAS your cousin, then he still IS your cousin. The answers to all your questions are very likely on the internet. Search and read.
Sometimes character actors made more money then the stars..Mantan Moreland was great actor...You don't find them like him anymore. I sure miss the old time actors
Hi Debbie your cousin had a wife named Hazel and a daughter named Marcella if I find out any more also he was one of the best African American actors of that era there were so many I truly love Hattie McDaniel 😉💜💫
I believe you had an Uncle by the name of Mues Moreland down in Clarksdale Mississippi. My Uncle George Woods who recently pasted away at 94 years once mentioned that to my Mom whos 80.
Love Mantan but people forget just how much chemistry he had with Frankie Darro . Darro was a really solid actor who served his country and contracted Malaria! He was too short to be considered a leading man but for that time period he was smooth!
i lovvvvve these movie. the brother is so funny. in todays world i need to laugh. my granny and I loved these movies. thanks for the uploads. Chicago love
Mantan was the man in black comedy in the 40s, but he made some all black comedies during that time where he is WAY rawer and looser than he was in the Frankie Darro and Charlie Chan films, such as "Lucky Ghost" (1941), Two Gun Man from Harlem (1938, with Stymie Beard of the Little Rascals), and "Tall Tan & Terrific" (1946), which as far as I know are the only ones of this type that still exist. There are some others that I presume are lost, such as "Up Jumped the Devil," "Mantan for Mayor," "Professor Creeps," and "Mr. Washington Goes to Town." I hope someone finds this stuff.
He was the original actor to play robbie the robot in forbidden planet but he was replaced because he was always drunk and he would fall over on the ground because he was so drunk he couldn't keep his balance.
It's a shame Frankie Darro was drafted into the military, and the team was broken up. He and Mantan were on a roll together, and their films did well at the box oftice.
He was a wel-rounded actor...to kow-tow to the white race and act the buffoon in films took real acting and a very hard outer shell allowing, him to peservere in his craft, while depicting absolute comedic brilliance!!!
Mantan Moreland is always great value. He makes us laugh out loud, with his fantastic comic timing and natural delivery of even the silliest lines - but we always laugh with him, never at him, and see him not as a buffoon but a really smart sidekick! I doubt these films would pass the P.C. test today.
@@mikethomas9587 You're missing something. They also stereotyped the cops as dumb and inept and usually Irish, the press as unprofessional and unscrupulous (maybe today), hotel managers as simpering and effeminate, country people as bumpkins, young women as airheads, the Irish as hot tempered drunks, waitresses as gum chewing wisecrackers and the list goes on. At least they opened the door for blacks and other minorities to get a start in movies.
Mantan Moreland was a truly unique and original comic. He was the best thing in all of his movies.
Love every film these two make. I do watch them regularly. July, 2023.

Thank you for posting this film with Mantan Moreland. He was one of the greatest however he still doesn't get the recognization that he deserves!
Drums of the desert is my fave. I agree, his writers had respect for his audience.
@@reelblack Great job unearthing these gems.🥂.

Another priceless nugget of history! Very well-done and subtle humor in this, too.
Just love watching these B/W movies thanks bringing them back I enjoy them
Scenes go from night to day to day to night in a flash. More to the charm. I love the old cheapies. (45:36-45:33)

Certainly not the best written script of their films, but that just makes Mantan's clever contributions stand out all the more.
Moreland and Darro were a great team. 🎥🥂
Mr Moreland's stuff is classic & original.
When U think of him U don't think comedian. He holds dwn. His character.
Yes he should! Along with Willie Best! Good luck on your search 👍🇺🇸🇫🇮🇵🇱✝️
16:09 LOL! Yes! I've been looking for this scene. Thanks Reelblack

Thanks for history lesson. Too bad today’s generation will never know what true talent is nor will this generation know what good movies are.
my favorite of his is 1941's King of the Zombies.
They said when Mantan passed away in 1971 he had a wife named Hazel still alive and a Daughter named Marcello so yes your cousin had one daughter.🎉
Love the character actors!
Like these old movies. That frankie Dani is a cutie.
Those eyes says it all Mantan slays me🥴
The scenes go from day to night to day in hot flashes. I love the old ones made on the cheap. (45:36-45:33)
Jeff always seems to have a relative locked up.
Interesting. The edition of the Star Tribune at 42:43 is in Spanish. Frankie translates as he's reading. Pretty cool to learn he's bilingual! LOL
Mantan Moreland made every movie he was in better
It was really funny for 83 yrs.old.
I'm here for Mantan. Mantan suggested Frankies only daughters name...😁
Proof??

Ironic, Frankie was an elevator operator with one line, uncredited, in a perry mason episode from 1958😺

@@brianbavosa877 He got fired because he fell on the Robby the Robot suit after a five Martini lunch

Hotel manager rather musical
Fun movie, but sound quality is terrible. Having trouble hearing and the volume is all the way up.
I lost my job as a sales associate.....Restaurant.....'_'
Audio's not good.
VERY DECIVINGINLY RESPECTFUL image of early 1940's America...once again why you don't believe T.V.
