You have an amazing collection of film that captures America at an amazing time. Technology and society has improved greatly since these films recorded data of the era. The information about us all is phenomenal. Ever so grateful for your channel. One People , One Planet , One Cosmos

That's because in the Charlie Chan films he was working with his scene partner, Ben Carter. They used to do that routine in Vaudeville. One of them, Dark Alibi, was Ben Carter's final film appearence before his death. Moe Howard said in an interview that their routine was one of the funniest he'd seen.

I know people will disagree and of course call me a racist but I always saw blackface as just stupid humor with the person in it looking ridiculous. I guess a French, English or German person could be offended by someone of another nationality pretending to be one in a movie. I wonder what Mantan and other black actors of that time thought about their movies years later. People in the future will probably be offended by things most people today, even the politically correct ones, find to be funny.
