Love your reflections on this! I am not a human doctor, I am a vet but even I can't stand medical shows anymore XD. Not only because of the inaccuracy but because they promote an unrealistic, unhealthy, soul-crushing lifestyle for doctors, like they're all gods and goddesses on their own, even if there is so much team work between specialists involved in real life. I don't understand how people root for those characters! Whenever I hear them being mean to students or residents, my trauma from vet school comes back, and senior clinicians were not even that horrible ^^ Not everyone thrives under unnecessary pressure, seriously, what is that crappy leadership/teaching?

I think that the being mean in the beginning part, if it was me in her shoes, would just kinda be like showing that I am your boss, not your friend. Don't come to me with your personal issues. Maybe being too harsh on purpose in order to keep some distance to get started then becoming more friendly as you go on.
It would make me feel uncomfortable if a nurse was being really kind to me but was treating the other nurses like rubbish, what kind of behaviour is this and surly it wouldn't be allowed in real life, right? But then again I have faced a lot of crap when I worked for two well known and "Professional" chain retail companies here in the UK.
