I was going to comment that that scene has emotionally wrecked me. Such a simple thing but so powerful to have these medical professionals take even a second to honor someone who may have lost their fight but donated their organs to save other lives.
While I was a patient, I observed the nurses reaction when various doctors that entered the room. Some doctors they were very friendly with, some they kept quiet, and others they would leave ASAP! This set the stage for how well I communicated with the doctors.
One of things I loved was how the Dr and nurses would take friendly jabs at each other whenever I got admitted for few night stays at the hospital lol and calling me by my nickname (it's obviously chuck lol) especially the ones who notice I'm a star wars fan and will talk to me about who's my favorite character As Dr Mike said that does so much to keep me relaxed and especially when they ask about my pain levels And hospital food is delicious!!

Former charge nurse here (got kicked upstairs for a few years- it’s not worth it). I would have never spoken that way to our staff. But I’m not an actor on a tv show.
This was soooo interesting to watch. I am no where near being a trauma nurse but hopefully I’ll get there someday on my nursing journey. This was so educational 😍👏🏽 as for the part where the patient started bleeding from her neck, that would’ve been called a code “Eric” at my hospital 🤷🏽♀️ has anyone ever heard of that code? I feel like my hospital is the only place that has that code name 😂
4:23 As a male nursing student I've had this happen surprisingly often. I never thought people would presume my profession based on the fact that I'm a man, yet being called "doctor"upon first meeting/encountering someone happens quite often. Its strange having to look around when somebody says "uhm, doctor?" just to ensure they aren't addressing me.
@@consuelonavarrohidalgo5334 I’m mistaken for an RN. I immediately correct them and tell them I’m a student nurse. I don’t have the privilege or sufficient knowledge yet to take on a whole person’s livelihood.

Not only injuries in fights, but also training analysis. There's the usual micro-fractures and muscle-tears to build strength and durability, and then there's Thai boxers kicking their trees, causing all sorts of joint and growth issues in fighters. As much as I respect Vegeta, some people just have a very bad/risky "train harder!" mentality going into their sports.
I've been a travel nurse for almost 7 years and almost all the hospitals I've been in has at least have had Filipino nurses!! Why can't shows show this reality lol
@Max Gandor Definitely! Here, Filipinos seem to be the absolute lifeblood of the healthcare system - everything from trauma nurses to old age care. The only bit that worries me is that there's been quite a few instances across multiple sectors where ex-pat BIPOC staff are forced to work under bad conditions, are underpaid, get harassed etc, and I'm dubious whether these personnel would feel empowered to speak up, report this to regulatory bodies/Police, etc if this happens? (Just based on both their home country experience of interaction with govt bodies, and on the way their families back home often depend heavily on their remaining in their jobs?) Really hope the nurses union may have some initiatives in place to help make sure immigrated medical staff are aware of their rights & obligations under the NZ system, and that they have a supportive person they can go to for help & advice if needed...
"a show with the proper dynamics between them" [nurses and doctors] that would be cool. For instance: 2 protagonists: one doctor, one nurse: and they are not romantically involved. I would like to see that show.
TheSaifear I wish we had a show like that... unfortunately, you already know that if they do make a show focused on one doctor and one nurse, _there will be romance_ for sure... Mostly between the two of them. Even the name of the show might be like, *The Doctor of Desire* or *My Beloved Nurse* or something like that lol !
That's American TV...The characters have to be gorgeous and have great jobs/friends/apartments so viewers envy and want to be like them, but at the same time their lives have to have all sorts of dramatic problems so the viewers are glad that they're not like them...

From a combat medic in the army I can tell you that “walking blood banks” are a thing we are familiar with. Though it is seldom done people with the compatible blood types as a casualty may be called upon to donate some of there blood right there in the spot. Now as for this happening in a more definitive care setting; seems very unprofessional lol.
I love watching these. As a physician, I feel Dr Mike and his invited guests always say the right thing. However a few things: - The hospital system I work at use code blue as an emergency response (not the best method, but it happens). - There is SO much more wrong with a physician giving blood... WTF!?? Has there been an objective screen for infections? The doctor was STILL WORKING, not the best time to be giving blood. Keep on the good fight, guys! PS trauma nurses are some of the toughest, best nurses I've ever seen so just a salute to Bianca Antisera!
I’m happy they finally have a nurse drama. A bit worried that they’ll portray this very different from reality, and ppl will have certain expectations as a result. I also hope they will explore other aspects of nursing eventually- palliative, ltc or aged care, paediatrics, surgical, medical etc
Lol, I am an EMT and what I found most interesting is the use of medical terms with the patients/family. Tell me how many regular people with no medical knowledge knows what "cardiothoracic" or "subarachnoid hemorrhage" is.
Bianca's comment at the end made me think of ER. That show did the best when it came to showing the relationship of nurses and doctors. neither were featured as having a higher importance then the other.
6:25 they have done this in so many medical shows. They run out of blood in the hospital so one of the residents is like "I'm a universal donor, hook me up!"
I love nurses. When my son had gastroenteritis at three, and was limp in my arms and almost unconscious, the ambulance guy (not disparaging all emergency workers, just this one), said "We're not taking him to hospital, this isn't urgent." Got to the hospital and I told the charge nurse, and she looked at him like a mum and said" Get him upstairs now!" Loved her.
why should there be any filipino why ya'll act like filipino got to be everywhere and on every show geez so extra........... if filipino can't act or anything then ok

@@martafaustino6137 Same. I only know medical stuff from tv shows or RUclips, but I think for the most part the medical stuff on tv shows is legit, just faster paced than usual and with doctors doing things that nurses would do. When the nurse came out and told about him having a brain bleed. I thought the same thing. It's really not the nurses place to be explaing that to his loved one.
I'm an radiographer, and along with the critiques in this video, I also have a problem with there being no representation of the allied heath professionals (x-ray, lab, respiratory therapy etc) in this and other medical dramas. Doctors and nurses do not generally do blood draws, and no nurses are qualified to operate imaging equipment in Canada.
I’m a radiography student and this is something that really bothers me in these types of shows, it’s always some random doctor taking the x-rays when in reality radiographers exist for a reason and you need qualified education to even be allowed to use x-ray
I work in a Blood Bank and my heart literally stopped when he said “hook me up to him” like it’s no big deal?Just give O+?? If this happened in real life they’d all get fired, there is no way in this world that this is ever happening. Also no way they’re out of O- as a level 1 trauma center. I work at a level 2 and we keep like 40 units on the shelf and can get more in a couple hours. This is crazy
I'm a pharmacist not at a level one trauma, and we would have the blood, or be able to get it from our local blood bank or other hospitals if need be. This scene was just to make a character look heroic for the show. By the time they got his blood and did all the testing to make sure they could use his blood, they could have gotten pints from so many other sources. This doesn't even take into account the non-blood options they would have at their disposal.
I just remembered that when I was in a teaching hospital I had to repeat my symptoms over and over so many times to so many "flocks of docs ". I know that they wanted to make sure that I wasn't leaving anything out, still, it was very annoying. I really liked Nurse Bianca. I felt that she gave a good balance to the video, and enjoyed hearing her point of view.
So we are just gonna forget what happened..cool EDIT-guys some of us dont have a problem with what Dr.Mike as done while some have lost trust...can we respect the fact that we are human and have different opinions...not all of us are ok with what he did and trying to mention about it,while some people keep saying move on but its not like the thoughts gonna fade away..please check your words on social media and stop arguing in the replies
I've just been binging Dr Mike's reaction videos all day and really waiting for one where he's reacting to Dr Romantic, but if you'd like a show that shows the relationship between nurses and doctors I cannot stress how much of that you'll see in Dr Romantic like, the head nurse (and her team actually) is such a force of nature in the ER. And now his apology. Let me be honest it felt like he was trying to justify his action. He did say he shouldn't have done it at the end but the focus should have been that how us his viewers should be extremely careful because the spread can take place even if we take all the precautions, best thing to do is social distancing mask and sanitizers and he may also talk about any quarantine time he is taking before going back to the hospital. While I was a patient, I observed the nurses reaction when various doctors that entered the room. Some doctors they were very friendly with, some they kept quiet, and others they would leave ASAP! This set the stage for how well I communicated with the doctors.
One of things I loved was how the Dr and nurses would take friendly jabs at each other whenever I got admitted for few night stays at the hospital lol and calling me by my nickname (it's obviously chuck lol) especially the ones who notice I'm a star wars fan and will talk to me about who's my favorite character
As Dr Mike said that does so much to keep me relaxed and especially when they ask about my pain levels
And hospital food is delicious!!
Nurse in real life: "we're gonna fill this file in the system for blood transfusion"
Nurse in the show: "I'm O- universal donor, plug me in"
Also, it’s ALWAYS O-.
This entire series summed up in one sentence- ‘no, no, no, that would never happen’
Also: "Wow. That's wildly out of your scope of practice."

The context here is what nurses do not their origin

However a few things:
- The hospital system I work at use code blue as an emergency response (not the best method, but it happens).

Why is the lighting so dark? I feel like you would need more light than that to effectively treat patients.

6:25 they have done this in so many medical shows. They run out of blood in the hospital so one of the residents is like "I'm a universal donor, hook me up!"

Omg I never noticed that! The irony tho 😂😂😂😂
I've literally only had nurses doing blood draws my entire life.
