I remember Onslaught from Marvel vs Capcom in the PS1. He was so cool. Though I had no idea what he was exactly, I just knew he had to be very powerful. Turns out he is way more complex, powerful and dangerous than I had initially thought.

M vs C is one of my favourites
Boosting Nightcrawler to the point that he has a vision of "How we win, How we flourish, The Path"...That's how you boost a teleporter, because their power isn't just translocation, it's foresight. Each time they have to project themselves to a destination, an unseen path, and extrapolate exactly HOW the course of action would play out. It's like fastforwarding through a GPS signal, where the projected path catches up with your arrival. Teleporters, with a little written flourish, can be considered somewhat pre-cogs.

Nightcrawler dealing with the end of Death for Mutant has been my favorite part of this X-Men rebirth. Nobody else has consistently put his teammates soul and spiritual well being first. The interaction with Pixie and her first death was a good side point, and the unwanted mutant children, relationships with a race of telepaths...
Also Kurt in an Admiral's Coat is the image in never knew I needed.
Knowing that Kurt jumps through a dimension to teleport I would imagine his omega level boost would involve moving between universes, so I imagine him like, throwing someone into the Marvel Zombie's Universe or pulling energies, weapons, releasing beasts, etc from other universe's during fights as well. Like a multi-universal Manifold with more combat abilities.
Basically if Nightcrawler was boosted by the void. Like shadowcat did
I think the implication is Kurt could teleport to any location the past, the future, other dimensions, and have no limit on the size of things he can take with him

Onslaught is a top notch villain not only in terms of overall strength and powers, but he is also cunning, ruthless and patient.
An embodiment of emotions, a being of pure evil, and one I cannot wait to see rise.
I can't believe we live in a time where people are saying "I can't wait for Onslaught" unironically. To be fair, he's (probably) being written by the guy who made Namor, Black Panther, Dr. Doom, and Thanos absolute chads.

This book was such a good read the emotional moments especially nightcrawlers journey to find The Way
When Nightcrawler died saving Hope, I cried. When I saw he was in heaven, but went to hell to save his family, I cried. Seeing him alive again makes me so happy… but I know it will lead to more tears.
Kurt's explanation for his foresight could be that his real power isn't teleportation but "travel" and he can use that, in the broadest sense, to travel his mind to the future, to all points in existence. It could make him omniscient to an extent if the writers wanted to go that way. He could also use that power to move other people, or even specific parts of them like their heart, to kill them. And if he could do that on a large scale that would make him omega or beyond omega.
Travel is such a broad term you could really use it to do almost anything. Assuming he has omniscience and enough power he could rearrange the entire universe as he sees fit.
This is what I was thinking too; or to be able to teleport something/anything with simply a thought and no interaction.
I remember Onslaught initially saying he only wanted the best for Mutant kind and it wasn't until Onslaught leaned of The Age of Apocalypse and how Mutants destroyed themselves that he vowed to destroy humans & mutants alike. So maybe Onslaught wants to unify Arroko & Krakoa but to do so he needs Arrokoan mutants to see Krakoa as an equal
X-Men needs another series to show these terrific stories either Live or cartoon versions
My era of following comics was the X-Men story arcs from the leadup to Legion Quest, through Age of Apocalypse, Onslaught, to Heroes Reborn. Every time I lovingly think of comics I think of the AoA and Onslaught. Phenomenal explanation of one of my favourite comic book characters!
So far how this is shaping out is that mutants might have a hard time being resurrected because of Onslaught's reemergence & Nightcrawler's power boost from Cortez more than likely is a extra latent mutant ability because some mutants have more than 1 ability.

This method that Onslaught is using seems to have been what his stated goal was originally- to unite all minds on Earth into one- a human/mutant Uni-Mind IIRC. This is simply chilling in the way its unfolding.

I’d love to see basically a Marvel Vs. X conflict. After Onslaught, I could see the Marvel Superheroes holding them responsible and bringing down Krakoa
maybe the trick with nightcrawler going omega / being precog is awareness of matter , he moves matter from one place to another so he has to be able to sense it I guess, if you sense enough matter both in direction and velocity you can project it's path into the future ? dunno quite a bit of a stretch but the only way I see him having that kind of ability ( or maybe some secondary mutation we aren't aware of )
Hey, I think you did a rundown on onslaught, but you should do the whole story, the first mention of him, all the cloak and dagger lead up, to the final revelation, and battle. There were a few x-men plot threads wrapped up in the whole thing, and I seem to remember it being a giant mystery until we got the full reveal.
A mystery right up there with wolverines and cables origin, at the time. Seems wierd now lol.
Years ago I was wondered if Onslaught would be brought back via Scarlet Witch, given that everyone still thought she and Quicksilver were mutants at that time. Onslaught needed a mutant body to be a host in and when Wanda came back from Franklin's pocket dimension and slowly went insane, that Onslaught's presence would have been involved.
But she's not a mutant for silly retcon reasons and so now I'm wondering about the Wolverine tie-in to the Onslaught event where Gateway showed Wolverine and Elektra the parasite thing that was in Magneto that infected Xavier behind the scenes of the Fatal Attractions conclusion. I don't know the origins of that parasite thing but often wondered if it was something from The Shadow King.
Anyway if the Onslaught parasite is infecting everyone then that would be fascinating.
I love this comic for the simple fact that it brings to the forefront the downfall of mutants being resurrected cause many felt that there wasn’t a loophole the mutant could basically cheat death

Well the brimstone is a pocket dimension. Those pocket dimension are usually controlled by the most powerful creatures. So, maybe instead of just using it as a space he goes and comes back from he starts drawling massive energy from it. Maybe he could just touch someone and send them to be trapped in the brimstone or send them anywhere. Touch Onslaught an send him to Chthons dimension or stuff like that.

On the other hand, surely Nightcrawler should've seen that coming too. The intention may not have been to get the massage to himself directly, but to Xaviar indirectly in this manner where Onslaught wouldn't suspect, since Xaviar can't be informed of Onslaught directly without another wipeout..
Man Rob, I feel like you missed way too much of what was going on in this series. You didn't even touch at all on what Nightcrawler is trying to do in this arch or how he's placed in jux opposition to Cortez. Really disappointed
i remember Professor X actually making magneto brain dead and putting him into a coma, thats why magnetos psyche was lost in xaviers mind and combined with other stress Xavier was having it created onslaught. A combination of them both.
Fun series. Love seeing Onslaught back. This made me love Fabian Cortez too. He came off sort of relatable how he wanted to feel important or at least liked and was all twisted up inside. Hope they give him some closure.
I really hope they bring Onslaught into the Marvel MCU movies eventually.

Omega level teleportation has a lot of potential, it could go into a micro more targeted scale like able to teleport a persons brain out of their head without the need of touch, or macro scale like teleporting half of a planet into the void of space.
Legion is a beast, but is he durable enough to fight Onslaught? Remember how durable the latter is and how much effort it took to even crack his armor.
I read the original Onslaught saga and it was totally amazing and awesome.
Rob, I would love to hear your thoughts of the state of X-men now, and how you feel about Hickman not finishing up his grand opus. The x-men honestly looks like a well organized mess.
He technically finished it @ telling how the mutants fail and how. The current writers just have to fill in the blanks and potentially change the new timeline.

This is the best era of X-Men in 20 years. Hickman was not solely responsible for this run. He built a team who will continue without him. Losing Hickman won't even be noticed for several months. Everything has been planned out for a long time. The fans are just being dumb because that's what the internet does

Word on the street is that other Marvel creators weren't done having fun with the "Dawn of X/act1" part of Hickman's vision. So he said cool. I'll be over here, just dont do anything to screw up where this is going and call me when you all have had your fun.
onslaught and carnage are by far the best villains in marvel comics imo. my favorite time reading comics when i was a kid was when onslaught was in every marvel comic in the 90s.

I love me some Onslaught too. I was a teen when I saw X Men issue 54 revealing who Big O was. And for me hooked back into comics ever since. 1. If I'm not mistaken Onslaught was also the reason Bishop was sent back in time. He couldn't remember until Big O was about to blast the X Men to death he remembered and absorbed the blast and passed out. 2. Another point, this is the cost I the resurrection process. 3. Can you imagine everyone in the brimstone dimension seeing that moon pop in and out. Wonder what that did there lol. 4. Exodus would be an awesome body for Big O since he can amp powers.
This is unrelated to onslaught, but it'd be crazy if they resurrected the Thanos/Xavier clone on Krakoa.

I believe his omega level would be knowing everything in the universe.
Full awareness of his surroundings and WHEN things are placed in time.
At that point he could change the position of something, even an atom nearby, and see how it alters the future. Currently he touches an item and it comes with him. At this point there'd be nothing stopping him from teleporting to the quantum realm.
Keep in mind he starts at the Brimstone Dimension and comes back. Being fully aware of going to and from that dimension opens an array of possibilities.
Pretty sure the T.V.A. would stop it asap. XD

@@ThatTargaryenGuy cyclops eyes are technically inter-dimensional apertures. If his mind's psionic field were amplified or if he received the ability to manipulate the shape of the energy from his eyes, there'd be nothing stopping him from creating full body armor of pure energy.
If he had the powers of Sebastian Shaw on top of his own he'd be beyond beyond omega level. (Could at that point create a blast similar to the one Doom used on the Beyonders if he just charged his own energy for all time.)
Also the energy behind those inter-dimensional eyes are unlimited.
It would be cool to see him capable of focus on splitting atoms from a distance.
But nah. Everyone wanted the phoenix force. XD
It would be hilarious to see him one day in an iron man type of suit. Self charging it at all times with his visor or something. Then he could fly and do other things with all that power.

I could see NC being omega easily. Instead of teleporting himself he could rise to the level off teleporting anything or anyone with a thought. Teleporting entire dimensions together or away. Onslaught shows up and NC waves his hand and sends him to the brimstone dimension. Teleport the moon into the center of the earth, etc etc.
He has to be able to see where hes teleporting to. To just pop things in and out of places with thoughts would be ridiculous haha

How cool is it that Onslaught is literally the dark shadow of the mutant race...eating up all of the rage and violence building up inside of every single mutant at the moment of their death.
Rage & frustration with a world he never agreed to. Prejudice, hate, systemic racism against a person for just existing... the only different thing between them and us (comic characters) is the Individual Power.
Fix your world, or Onslaught will do it for you.
I've always wanted to see David Haller kick Onslaughts butt. The spirit of Onslaught is now possessing every mutant on Krakoa so he's a living force within Krakoa. I wonder if the fusion between Legion and Life Seed Nate Grey would be enough to annihilate Onslaught or if just one of them could beat him. That would a good be a great series if Life Seed Nate Grey and Legion were on the same team fighting abstracts, and celestials after joining together to crush onslaught.
This never occurred to me before, but Charles Xavier as he appears now, looks strikingly similar to The Master. Has there been any crossover with those two characters before, or is that just a coincidence? I know X-men comics are largely self contained, but it can’t just be an aesthetic oversight.
The Master his head is misshaped, Charles has always worn a stripped down version of his helmet with Cerebro.
Kurt is one of my favorite characters on the x-men side of things, to be honest.

...they should do a Heavy Metal-style book where different Artists contribute one story in comic-book collection of a variety of Comic Book Artists...maybe like Omni Magazine each story could be along a specific theme rather than regular super-heroes stories...

Imagine Nightcrawler teleporting an entire planet into a star's gravity well, then just leaving. That's how he could be Omega level. I mean, that would destroy a whole world pretty quickly and easily.
What about the Marque of death? Can't he destroy onslaught?
The way this is fashioning out, I recall Domino's death what she was dealing with living with the past then forgetting all the trauma. I take it that Kurt died in an area that is considered Krokoa; as I recall a mutant cannot resurrect unless there near a gate or in Krokoa. It is also funny Kurt has the answers to stopping all that's coming but his path was cut off; like Onslaught knew some erroneous ability would manifest to get in his way. Put a fast stop to it. Maybe just maybe Onslaught vs Nemrod will happen.
The problem with Onslaught was that he lacked a desired focused direction. Its hatred for humanity was based on Magneto&it was too broad. Considering how much trouble Bastion had caused for the mutant population and their human parents, Onslaught's motive should be towards the future timeline that created Bastion/Nimrod. The Days of Future Past timeline, despite being changed multiple times by Rachel Summers&even Cable/Hope Summers, variations still exists just like there's variations of the Mirror Universe for Star Trek but it's always connected to each other. Each reality makes contact with each other even though changes in the prime timeline should had wiped out the Days of Future Past timeline multiple times already as its existence is a paradox. That's the reality that Xavier&any other X-Men had wanted to prevent ever since they first encountered it with the debut of the Brotherhood of Mutants in the 1980s. If Onslaught want to wipe out Earth, he can be directed into seeking&wiping out the variations of Days of Future Past realities. Hope Summers, Nate Grey(M'Kraan Crystal)&Jean Grey(Phoenix) probably has the power to wipe out those realities like at the end of the original run of Cable comics, but they're not around at the moment. Legion&Illyana could do it by altering the timeline but for some reason it keeps coming back. Is there someone that has Moira McTaggert's powers that's being used by Nimrod/MasterMold? So Onslaught might be able to do it but it's anger is focused towards humanity when it should be focused towards the bad elements of humanity that has the capability to harm mutants. Seriously if Onslaught should try to possess someone to physically manifest itself, it would be Hope Summers instead of Legion since it doesn't have to fight against the thousands of personalities inside's Legion's head to gain dominance.
