  • The Onslaught story arc began at the end of X-Men #54 and started off in Onslaught: X-Men, then was developed over the course of Onslaught Phases 1 & 2, finally concluding in Onslaught: Marvel Universe. Tie-in issues were dubbed Onslaught Impact 1 & 2, corresponding with the Phases.

    The Onslaught story arc is where I expanded my reading of marvel. I had been reading Spiderman a few years before. This was the coolest 😎 story for me back then!!

    X-men is what got me into comics so I loved this Saga and AoA, hands down some of my fav stories lol pretty much anything to do with my fav villains Apocalypse and Mr Sinister. Like the new Logo Rob

    Ya know for one of your lower ranked story lines, I have to admit that it was one of your best commentaries. You could have dragged this out to 4 segments, but you did beautifully with 1. Plus you had undertones of comedy that hit with perfect timeing. Thank you for this, I didn't know much about Onslaught, and know I do.

    The way you summarized the whole Marvel Onslaught Crossover was entertaining and hilarious. And I may not have all the issues in my collection but you actually did summarize it according to very exact issues and Onslaught graphic novel I do have. Loved it bro

    I've met a lot of strong warriors, but fighting Onslaught was an experience I never thought was possible, and have never experienced since. To this day, I'm not sure I would beat him alone.

    I like the idea of Xavier and Magneto fusing into this insane threat though. I'd actually want to see Onslaught in another Xmen/Avengers movie if they make one, even if it is changed and contained only within Xmen, I'd still love to see it.

    Yo Rob, you are wrong about the Green Goblin at this time. This was actually when Phil Urich was the Green Goblin and trying to be a Super-Hero. His final issue was fighting the sentinels and bits from an exploding one ruins his mask and gear.

    I remember really enjoying the series as well when it came out but like you I was quite young.. could say they did know their audience though since enough of us seem to remember it fondly if only at the time heh.

    ... Every time I see Dr. Doom involved in a conflict, I remember that he's been shown to be able to build a time machine out of almost anything (he and Tony Stark were once thrown back in time. Doom solved the problem by building a time machine from parts of Stark's Iron Man armor), which makes me wonder why he didn't just mess with continuity to prevent the conflict from happening.

    I love most of your videos, been a fan for over a year now, have gone back and seen many of your videos, but I cant get with your tone during this. Its because the final issue of Onslaught was what really got me into comics. That fight was epic, iconic in many ways, but I felt you just took this and poked fun :/

    Hah! Dude i literally just requested this like a week ago. So cool to know you listen to your audience. Yeah Onslaught saga was major... I never did to read all of the tie ins and stuff, so it was nice to get a recap. Youre right in that ultimately it didnt amount to much, but overall the character was so badass the he always goes down as one of the top badass villians. Def worth the discussion. Thanks Rob!

    Onslaught was from Charles Xavier, but this goes much further back than "Fatal Attractions". Do you remember "Dark Shroud of the Past"? This seldom-reprinted X-Men issue from 1977 (#106) contained the first appearance of "Professor X's Evil Self" which resided within his mind. At the time, it was shrugged off as partly caused by Xavier's rapport with Lilandra, but that explanation made less sense as time passed.

    I use to work for and inker who worked gor both Marvel and DC and was part of the original team of guys who started Image Comics. Acording him, Heroes Reborn was a test to see if leasing characters to the guys from Image was profitable. This is also the time Marvel had filed bankruptcy and they were considering saleing off characters to other companies like DC.

    Man, when i was a kid, Onslaught was THE SHIT! I only had like a few of these comics, but it was amaaaazing. This is an awesome rundown. I never got the entire story. I still need to find a good compilation of this arc though. Even if just for nostalgia.

    This was my first major crossover event I followed as a kid. Begging my mom to buy me the issues off the rotary comic rack at the grocery store.... I miss when comics existed outside of dedicated stores.
