Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I am the owner of the same ebike. This was not the bike I ordered, but I agreed to keep it.I had it 3 weeks. By the end of the first week I noticed a slight wobble in the rear wheel,. a cricket like squeaky sound coming from the motor area, and the foot of the kickstand fell off. Himiway compensated me for sending the wrong bike, and are in the process of sending me a replacement for the kickstand, and a new motor. This is my first and only ebike. At 65 I have not ridden a bike in about 40 years. I am 6'2 and 210 lbs. This bike is bigger then it appears in video. It was confusing to determine the correct amount of air pressure for these fat tires. The manual stated one thing, the tire stated something else., and my body type was saying something different. The fastest I have gone so far is 24 MPH, without changing factory settings. That is fast enough for me. I have been averaging about ten miles per day on the ebike. When ever coming to a stop its a good habit to set the pedal assist to 0 or 1.The bike is fun to ride and looks good.I am hopeful that my Himiway ebike issues will be resolved.
Nice video that clarifies the issue I had at first, because I didn’t know it had pedal assist and it drove into my front gate from the lack of experience. Now I’m careful and watch all your videos, thanks for all the tips
Been looking at bikes for several months trying to figure out which to get. Been arguing with myself between the Rad Rover and the Himiway. Almost settled on the Rad rover till I saw your last video. That very day I ordered a Himiway step threw. This video makes me really happy with your reviews and my choice. I wanted one to take me fishing down some dirt paths which are several miles long to get to the fishing area. I think it will also be used for running around town and for just getting out there rides.
Great video. Confirmed our decision to go with Himiway even though we didn't see this video first. Just put my Cruiser together last night and tested her out this morning. So far I can say my experience was quite satisfying. First time EBike owner and was pleasantly surprised with the bikes abilities and giddy-up. Looking forward to my wife's Step Through arriving in April.
Great Video Brian, I bought a Himiway because of your reviews! I have made some changes to my Himiway, like upgrading the brakes to hydraulic Bolton brake conversion, I put larger pedals on, and a different riser and neck, so I would not have to lean as much forward as I have a broken back from VN. I would like to put a color display KT-LCD8H on it. Makes programming easier. Found out by your other review that the Himiway controller is 25 watts not 15 watt like Rad!
You've been extremely helpful as far as guiding my decision to upgrade my 2020 Rover, I've gotten the motor, controller, the battery is on backorder, opted for the maxxis minion fbr and fbf. I know you said the battery is the least value, I'm looking for range equitable to power. Thanks for your vids, keep them coming.
Thanks for the detailed review! I came very close to ordering a Himiway, but a used BikTrix Juggernaut Classic came along at a price I could not pass up. I'm now considering a Himiway step-through for my wife. All of the reviews have been positive and the price is right.
Another great video, I'll post it in the Facebook Himiway groups. I have a Himiway Cruiser and just received it 5 days ago. I set the speed limiter to as high as it can go (basically turned it off) and am seeing the same speeds and performanve you are. I should note that many feel the Himiway shows as up to 2 mph over when compared to GPS or roadside speed radar. This may be because the wheel size is 26" but the true size is closer to 28-29 because of the fat tire. People have changed the wheel size settung to 28" but that over compensates in the other direction so most just leave it as is. Like you, I changed the PA % settings because the bike does take off abruptly and feels almost too powerful for the low settings, especially 1 and 2. I set mine to 1=20%, 2=40, 3=60% and so on. This works better for me for a more gradual increase. Finally I would say the bike is delivered as a Class 2 (750W, 20 MPH) but as soon as you increase the speed limiter it will go 30-32 mph in PA 5 or full throttle on a flat surface. At that point it would be a Class 3.
Got mine 2 weeks ago and have put on 165 miles on it mostly trail riding. I took today (Monday) off just because it's going to be nice and I want to ride as much as possible before it gets cold! The only thing so far is the chain fell off twice hopping a curb and during a low speed spill over thing. The rear rack lost a bolt and the throttle plastic piece that turns inside popped out... But those are easy little fixes.
Excellent info. On my Volt 750 Yukon, I selected 0-9 PAS. Sounds like your at 0-5 PAS ?? 10--11% percent for each PAS really divides up the power. PAS 1=10mph 2=12ish 3=14ish 4=16ish etc. I weigh 175lbs, flat ground, no wind 7th Gear PAS 9=25 mph MAX. sustaining 23-24 throttle only. Fresh charge no lights on. I feel there is more power that needs to be unleashed, like pedaling with the brakes on or I'm dragging a parachute. Ride-ON
@@seriouskite Yes I have it set at 0-5, going up in increments of 20 starting at PAS 1. I bumped up PAS 1 today to 25 as it was barely engaging at 20. The rest I've left the same for now. I'll try the 0-9 if the transition isn't smooth enough for me.
I'm sooooo glad I got my Himiway 2 weeks ago!!! It is a POWERFUL bike. Almost too much power when trying to maneuver around a corner/tight space (I had 2 low speed situations - whoops). I suppose I could go into the settings and change the cadence. But then it wouldn't be as FUN - HAHAHA! I would rather get used to it. It's fun going up hill no handed effortlessly!!!
Keep in mind the brakes cut off the motor, My Volt Yukon 750 has 0-9 Pedal assist. Factory settings are around 10-11ish percent increase in power each. So yes, 3-9 from a dead start when not expecting a "boost" can be a bit startling. Gear 6 or 7 on the flats, PAS 5-6-7- then open up throttle until 20 ish mph, as you are pedaling your arse off and speed drops hit the throttle again. Real good way to find out what you have and what the bike has.
@@jennifermcnuttmusic6353 No, I actually chose a different ebike. I found a local company that makes ebikes for a similar price called FattE Bikes, so I bought one of them. It was a bit more expensive than the Himiway, but it is a great bike! I hope your Escape is fun!
@@jennifermcnuttmusic6353 I got the escape yesterday, and my Wife has a RadRunner Plus. How are you enjoying yours?!?! We live on what I believe might be Canada's steepest ocean side hill... I am able to go up the hill in Gear 7, Assist 2. Or just throttle the whole way up. #mindblown She has to go up in Gear 1, Assist 5, and breaks a sweat. Sometimes I just want to leisurely pedal but I can't!!! LOL it has too much power.
Great video, Citizen! If I was in the market for a full size fat tire electric, I would go for that Himiway or Juiced Rip Current S! Rad is great for a 1st time e bike, though! I have the Rad Runner and I love it! Reminds me of the Schwinn Stingray I had as a child. I am 60 now, and I am still a little kid at heart! Keep up the good work!
My husband has a Himiway Cruiser and I have a Rad Runner Plus. His bike is definitely faster in taking off so I think your comparison is a fair one. I really like the Rad Runner because it’s easy to get on and off. We go over dirt trails, gravel up and down hills they are both fun ebikes.
Man... You're selling that Himiway more all the time. It really does have some serious advantages over the Rover, especially now that Rad has raised the price another hundred dollars. I really would be interested to know if it has a 'true' 750-watt motor (I almost KNOW it does, though, from the higher speed and acceleration it shows...).
Awesome! I think you have helped me make a decision to get the Himiway. I really appreciate all of your excellent videos. Great job. Looking forward to seeing more!
@@Already100 I’m going to order the Himiway, but I live in central NY and winter is fast approaching. I’m going to wait awhile to order so I get it closer to spring.
I've got the standard himiway cruiser and I love it, but you're not wrong its pedal assist is very strong. I've never road another e bike, but I've had my himiway for almost 4 months now and I love it. Everyone that tries it loves and wants to get one too.
I had my heart set on a RadCity since my Evelo OmniWheel died back in July after three years of frequent use, and I was using it for getting to the grocery store, but after seeing these comparisons.. even with the sudden jolts of the motor kicking in, I'm leaning towards the Himiway. Thank you for doing these apple-to-apple comparisons.
Can easy upgrade the Rad with a new controller and true 750 w motor, I did and I literally ride it like a motorcycle now, once you go 30 you wont ever go back to a E bike that only does 20.
Big 👍 ...after what I felt was tons and tons and tons and tons (get the point) 😆 ...of research, I pulled the trigger on two Himiway cruisers for my wife and I. Then low and behold, I found your videos online, which made me even HAPPIER! ...that I made the choice I did. This video was perfect in the information you offered! When I get my bikes, mine will be unlocked, and I'm not sure how I'll end up programming the PAS modes yet. But because of the info you provided here, I'll definitely be powering down my wife's PAS. We're both in our 50's, and although I've been a two wheeler all my life, and currently own a 2019 Energica EVA 107 all electric Italian motorbike that'll take ya from 0-60mph in 2-seconds, ...my wife is a bit more passive. Thanks for both this video, and the Himiway vs Radrover video. They were exactly what I needed to see! Again, I had already ordered the bikes, but your videos definitely make me feel like I couldn't have made a better choice!
Same here. I have been just adjusting the brake cables at the caliper to shorten the slack. Seems to still have plenty of pad left from a visual inspection.
I agree with the “Power Delivery” comment. I have a 750 M2S fat tire and and 2020 Rad Wagon. The M2S can be a little “unruly” and the Rad Wagon seems nice and smooth from dead stop to top speed. I would compare it to a corvette to a big Cadillac. But I do love the fact I can hit over 30mph on the M2S. Never on the Rad, especially with a kid in the back. Hey Citizen, I’m in Saxapahaw, lets meet up in Durham for a ride sometime.
Rad has some competition against the Rover....... and they also just raised the price $100 to $1599..... I have a stock Rover and love it but the Himiway looks good....very good
@@MommaFig1 I just picked up an Speedrid 26in Fat Tire by Ancheer. $940. Its beast for the price. 26MPH throttle only, 28MPH if you give it a little help. Depends what you're looking for. The Lectric XP is also faster out of the box, what stile bike are you looking for?
@@MommaFig1 also with a battery upgrade the two Ecotric fat tire bikes probably a little faster then Radrover. With a coupon code one is $800 other is $900. The Rattan probably also a little quicker
We actually just bought a Rad Rover because of your awesome reviews! 👍🏻😀 I wonder if the Rad and the Himiway are made in the same plant? They seem to have so many similar elements. 🤔
I once sold a powerful car (it was the car he wanted) to someone who was used to a lesser brand. When he came back to complain it was too quick to drive smoothly I showed him the winter driving setting that made it "just like your old car." The Himiway can be programmed to give less power to the pedal assist levels. I will do this for my wife's step through when it arrives. I will not do this to mine. You can tame the Himiway. Without spending hundreds of dollars you can't make the Rad perform like the Himiway.
That's what so awesome about the Himiway, the deep settings and how you can customize it to your liking. It is a powerful bike. Class 3. It crushes the RR.
Thanks for the video I was curious about the rad rover, I have the himiway and I love it. I have the power assist set at 0-9 and it is great to have so many power assist options. Himiway support will also walk you through changing the modes if additional help is needed.
agreed how can so many fan boys/girls not be SCREAMING REFUND or total recall of all bikes in collusion with Bafang labeling a 750 WATT motor and is a TRUE 500 Watt. Mr. Citizen and Kyle at Bolton saved me from purchasing this Rad deception. Crickets and Cicadas from the Rad Co, and the Rad Fans. What say you?
@@seriouskite My 2019 RadRover is about 18 months old now, and I've upgraded it with Bolton's controller. I don't know how the Himiway compared in 2019, but it's clearly the better bargain/bike now. And most likely would be my choice today.
@@paulrybarczyk5013 Yes, back in June, Volt Bike Canada said they would ship in 2 weeks. They shipped on the 7th week. Himiway's website said allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. We paid 1,799 delivered X 2. 90% built, test ridden, Hydraulic disc brakes. No brake light, just tail light. Unlimiting the limiter, Tickles 25 mph, and played with the torque it's quicker. When warranties are up this 1st of July, I'll be following the foot steps of Bryan's RR conversion to the Citizen Cycle. We bought the seats and mirrors. I need to order that light thru his AMZ affiliate.
I just got my Rover last month and was looking at the Himiway and almost got one, but I didn't know if it was as easily upgraded as the Rad. Will the Bolton upgrade work on the Himiway? Or is it even necessary? If you had done this review before I made my choice, I would have probably went with the Himiway! Keep the honest videos coming, I enjoy your truth on these ebikes.
the Himiway power feels like my Rad felt after doing the bolton controlller upgrade, not sure if that controller upgrade would work, i will have to look at the plugs but really you dont need it, strong enough without it.
In comparing hydraulic (are they truly hydraulic though?) to mechanical, one fellow was stating today that the mechanical are easy to change in comparison, and I'd assume perhaps a few $$ less. Not having ridden bikes with both, I can't honestly say what the difference is, but perhaps someone that has, will chime in soon.
Hey citizen the only item I would like to add related to the price difference between the rad and the himi would be the cost to upgrade the rads battery to the larger capacity pack that comes stock on the himi , those larger Samsung are pricey , anyway Great review as always
Sam k I think it’s really good. This is a lot of bike for the price. There is more than enough get up and go for anybody. It has a true 750W motor and they call the bike a beast for a reason...its big! Great warranty and though customer service can be a little slow, they seem to work hard to make things right.
I've put the Himiway bike through the paces for a few hundred miles and would like to offer my feedback. I've had several electric bikes previous to Himiway and have had to modify all of them to fit my needs. I ride mostly on back country dirt roads, logging roads, and forest trails. I've put 25,000+ miles or so on e bikes over the past 10 years. Maybe 5 - 10 % of that has been extreme conditions with lots of gravel, rocks, ruts, potholes, mud, and steep curvy narrow paths. I purchased the Himiway without trying it based on specs, but mostly because of testimonials, which in hindsight, I realized are mostly from casual and inexperienced e-bikers. This bike is best for predictable conditions. It's probably fabulous for beach riding. I don't recommend it for rough terrain. It's a very heavy bike that requires the assist being on to use the throttle. That means that when you start to peddle and are pointed toward a rock or hole, the bike lunges forward. Obstacles are hard to avoid. I'm glad Himiway sent me the wrong bike. I ordered the black men's bike and received a white step through. I've had to plant my feet firmly on the ground to avoid obstacles several times. I felt frustrated that I received the bike almost a month later than expected. On the whole, the bike is well designed and easily put together. The threads on the leftt pedal arrived squashed at the end, but I ground them down and installed the pedal. I was pleased to see that Himiway quickly sent a replacement. Another small problem I’ve had is the kickstand loosens up over rough terrain and rattles until I tighten it up again. I love the compact and nifty little tool kit provided my Himiway. The 48V 17.5 amp battery is a plus, though I'm skeptical about Himiway’s recommendation to leave it fully charged, when every battery spokesman says it will have a longer life if I don't. I have a 48 volt 15 amp battery on my BionX bike with a 1,000 watt motor. I expected to get better mileage with Himiway, but because the BionX charges while coasting and braking, I get similar mileage. BionX leaves the Himiway in the dust when climbing a steep hill, but mainly because I'm peddling twice as fast on the Himiway at 20 mph as I am on the other at 30mph. I'm going to look into modifying the gearing and also into the possibility of charging the battery on the go. After my first ride, I instantly upgraded by installing a water bottle, small saddle bag, and gel seat cover. I began by leaving the bike in 7th gear (for 20 miles) while using the motor to maintain speed. I tried shifting gears and using the motor as little as possible for the next 20 miles. I'm using a combo now. The two main changes I'm making to the bike at the moment are installing a 5" tire on the front for rocks, potholes, and snow and modifying the gearing by replacing the set of seven gears with a higher and lower ratio set, or installing three front gears and derailleur with the current size as the middle gear. I'll keep you updated and share my successes and failures with you. thanks, mark
TOUGH BIKE TOO... I went over the handlebars and flipped the bike trail riding yesterday (I was wearing gloves and my hand got stuck between the throttle and the break and I hit a big root and rock while trying to break - ugh). The "locked" battery came flying off the bike and thought for sure it was snapped off and broken, however, it just snapped right back in with no issues. Besides some scratches on the battery case, the bike (and me) is fine. I took off the front fender as those hooks on the side stick out too far and have snagged on things on the trail.
Wickedly helpful comparisons. Thank you very much. Will keep watching. Was thinking Rad but now wonder. The made in China part compared to Rad is troubling as there seems to be some issues with Himiway customer service not to mention long shipping times and unexpected delays. Any experience with these issues that you can comment on? I'm ready to purchase one or the other but am concerned about those things. Thanks
Really great comparison video! Straight and to the point without the BS. In you opinion do you think you could adjust the pedal assist to make it have a smoother excelleration or will it always just jump off the line?
One can go into the pedal assistance programming to modify it for 0 to 9 pedal assistance levels; with each specific level of pedaling assistance having its own desired appropriate power output levels; one can for example in the case of the nine pedaling assistance levels define specific desired motor controller to electric hub motor power output levels; that are evenly split: level 1; 10% of 750 watts is 75 watts power output level 2; 20% of 750 watts is 150 watts power output level 3; 30% of 750 watts is 225 watts power output level 4; 40% of 750 watts is 300 watts power output level 5; 50% of 750 watts is 375 watts power output level 6; 60% of 750 watts is 450 watts power output level 7; 70% of 750 watts is 525 watts power output level 8; 80% of 750 watts is 600 watts power output level 9; 90% of 750 watts is 675 watts power output one can also go into the pedal assistance sensitivity and adjust that also as well
I know what you mean about not trying hard pedaling uphill and applying extra force. You don't have to. You can pedal in any gear on PAS5 and it'll get you up the hill with not much pressure being applied to the pedals.
I just bought a Radrover for my wife.... kinda wish I had seen this video first. Might have gone with the Himiway! I am sure the Rover will be a good bike too though. Wondering how they compare for range? By the way.... really great no non-sense and informative video!!! Thank you!
Hi CC, I love your comparaison videos. I'm purchasing an ebike and have been looking at a wide range and for me it comes down to 2. The Himiway stepthru and The Himiway escape. Now Im a personal shopper so I often have alot of extra cargo with me and also I have long distance trips. Im a big girl and would like a confortable ride. I know the escape is not out yet but compared to other moped style ebikes, which one would you recommand oe chose out of the Stepthru and the Escape?
hi Marsha, this is a tricky question. The Step Thru has a higher payload capacity at 350lbs so you might be able to carry more cargo, it also has a larger battery so you would probably get more range, however, the Escape has full suspension probably making it more comfortable, and it also has hydraulic brakes which are probably better when hauling cargo. price is also something to consider since there is $300 dollar difference. you could also get one and do some mods, for instance get the steph thru then add hydraulic brakes and a suspension seat post...
The price did just go up to $1499 unfortunately from $1399 hopefully they give you something for the extra $100 , nice review like to see more wish they would send me a free one to review and test out in N.Y.
I like your reviews a lot. I am considering Himiway as second bike. I bought a Ride1up 700 and like the Himiway, it has adjustable percent in each level of pedal assist and hydraulic brakes. I am 180lbs. and it takes me up a 5% grade easily and will gain speed as it goes. The hill you climbed looked fairly steep. Do you know approx. the percent grade? I have my controller set to use 16 amps, it is adjustable up to 22 amps. Thanks for your terrific reviews.
I considered purchasing a brand new 150cc scooter, until I discovered that you have to first take a motorcycle safety program; a two day program that costs $250 to be 'motorcycle-qualified' on your driver's license. I've never ridden an ebike, but they sound like a super alternative for cruising around town and you don't have to pay 'the king' to register them. There is a local ebike store and I figured it would be better to purchase one locally for purposes of future support; that was until I realized he was selling his obsolete 350 watt bikes for over $2,000. After performing many hours of research, it seems like the Himiway cruiser provides far better performance for its current $1,599 price. Of course, the only drawback is that everything is online, and as with the RAD ebikes, there are no dealers. WHY the HECK haven't any American companies engineered a high quality nominally priced ebike, especially with the incredibly increasing demand for them, instead of us having to rely upon importing them from overseas countries like China?
If himiway is taking off rapidly, it is using your battery less efficiently. And it an also be putting more wear and tear on your motor at least initially. But uphill I think it would be an advantage since it cuts the needed to negotiate a hill.
Rad Refunds 500W vs. 750 Watt proof in 2020 the DECEPTION and willing COLLUSION of Rad Bikes with Bafang labeling the motor as a 750 Watt and installing 500 Watt motors. I ride Volt 750 Yukon, not affiliated with anybody, Bryan Mr. Citizen Cycle and Kyle at Bolton prevented me from this looming Class Action Law suit. I'd go Himi wait for all warranties to expire than follow Bryan's upgrades to "the next level". Oh and thanx a bunch for this specific content................exactly what I wanted to see. Rad owners, what say you?
I say my Radrover 5 is great! It's smooth, accelerates nicely, and the PAS system doesn't kick in so hard like Citizen Cycle says the Himiway does. It's fast enough for me, I don't need it to be any faster. Let's see how reliable the Himiway is compared to the Radrover. Also, Rad has great customer service and a lot of excellent how to videos. I looked on RUclips and Himiway only had a few.
Super helpful. Thanks. By the way,, with such heavy, powerful bikes, do you have any concern about the braking? Also, doesn’t the Rad have regen, and does that affect your thinking at all?
What type of bike rack can you purchase to transport 2 of these Himiway Cruisers that can be attached to your car receiver hitch (2 inch)? Thanks and love your videos!
Most people seem like to be buying the Rad Rover, but I am looking at Himiway. I am over 300 lbs and there are a lot of hills in Maine, so am interested in the extra power. The only thing I don't like is handle bars are more forward and with my back issue might be a problem.
Thank you for the great comparison video! I am not sure if the Himiway have raised their price as well but it seems like the Step Thru is $1,499 instead of $1,399 as you mentioned in your video? Also, I noticed that the full fender is not included in the $1,499 price point. Maybe they have raised the price?
yep, looks like they raised the price. all these companies are constantly raising and lowering prices by hundred dollars here and there. when i looked at the website just now it said fenders included....
Which one has better suspension off road? I rode one that was clunky on bumps and I'm taking mine down forest roads. The rad rover did good, the folding little one sucked. but wondering about himiway.
Hi. Looking at the comparison the Hemi looks like it could be the bike for me ( I live in a very hilly area ) in the test did you get any feeling for how long each bikes battery would hold out for. The Hemi would have to be my choice as I think I can buy it in the uk but not the Bolton.
What about after-sales/service, customer satisfaction and product longevity that Rad bikes are known for? These three items are worth the difference in price and it isn't like Rad pretends this product goes above 20 mph (they do make products with huge batteries and stronger motors, but they won't be $1,500).
Those hubs are pressed fit, so make sure you have the proper equipment before you try and crack one open! Lovin' that Himi top speed! I have a Class II folder that I travel with, so am just looking for a Class III for commuting to tennis and errands so want the higher speed.... Himi looks like the bike to beat!
Like your presentation. Like the bike concept, but the company is a little suspect. I think they are a Chinese company that wants to move RadPower bikes out of the space and take market share. Is it not funny to you that the RadRover and the Himiway look very similar? It’s a little curious.
This bike looks good but is it for me? Maybe to bulky and heavy though I'm also 6'1" like Citizen but about 200lbs. I still can't decide between a few bikes I've been looking at online like the Rad mini/mission/Rhino this Himiway and a few others. I think I would like three ebikes like a folder, a fat cruiser and an everyday around town like the Rad Mission but 3 is a bit OCD (which I have also so a Mountain bike too so that's 4 so far lol) maybe two but which 2! Thinking the Rad Mini & Mission or just the Himiway as I already have 2 normal Hybrid Road bikes but thinking of getting rid of those for ebikes. There's just not one solution that hits me as that's it, that's the one I need for what I want which is mainly leisure riding on big or small hilly roads and fairly smooth tracks & around town. Need lights, mud guards and stand so at least I know that much. Maybe get the Rad Mission to replace my everyday hybrid and see where I go from there if needed and later add a Himiway or Rad Mini (uses the same battery type as the Mission which is useful). Decisions ????????? Just go for the Himiway???????????? but is it practical for an everyday bike which is what I need as no other transport and no shed/garage so it's going to take up a large part of my living room but might squeeze into the hallway? nowadays when I cycle on my normal everyday hybrid which i do regularly then I really do start to get fatigued after a while (age 50+) and it is painful & draining so I need an ebike. Might delete this post later when I realise it's such a long waffle but it is my situation at present as I search for the, or a, solution. I think Rad Mission to start but this Himiway is very tempting and I can get it in the UK shipped from Germany. Would the Himiway basically be a lot more fun than the Rad Mission but still everyday practical and I'm not sure it would. Could Citizen by any chance do a comparison vid between these two bikes or types to answer why a person would choose one or the other. Are there any videos of why a fat bike is so appealing over other bikes? Must look that up. I think the Mission lacks gears is the main issue so perhaps they just need a geared version or maybe it's great as is with the general use 50-16 gearing?
If I didn't NEED a foldable, I'd definitely consider the Himiway as my top pick. It seems your Rover is slower than it should be. I have the RadMini 4 with almost 800 miles on it already, and it pulls much harder than your Rad. I know; mechanical advantage with the smaller wheels, but it shouldn't make THAT much of a different. I'll have to time mine, but it gets right up there pretty easy, while the Rad in this video seemed to struggle to get to 20. Between these two bikes, I'd still pick the Himiway though.
I’m sold on the Himiway!!!!

I have the Himiway step through and LOVE this bike. Great acceleration and hill-climbing ability. For $1399, you can't go wrong.
Thanks for all your fab videos -I have got A RAD now and it was def your videos that inspired me the most - you have a great voice too
Great Video Brian, I bought a Himiway because of your reviews!
I also heard rad really has a 500w motor but runs it at 750w
You've been extremely helpful as far as guiding my decision to upgrade my 2020 Rover, I've gotten the motor, controller, the battery is on backorder, opted for the maxxis minion fbr and fbf. I know you said the battery is the least value, I'm looking for range equitable to power. Thanks for your vids, keep them coming.
Enjoy those upgrades!!
I weigh 175lbs, flat ground, no wind
7th Gear PAS 9=25 mph MAX. sustaining 23-24 throttle only.
Wow. I was about to pull the trigger on the RadRover, but now I'm thinking I'll get the Himiway...
Did you get one? I just got my escape.
#mindblown
She has to go up in Gear 1, Assist 5, and breaks a sweat.
I've just put 1100 miles on my Radwagon and quite happy with it. Could it better? Yes, and probably more expensive as well. It works.
Just a FYI Also HimiwayCruiser doesn't charge taxes as well
Has a 2 years warranty too. Cant go wrong, it has the absolute best one out of any brand.
Ordered my Himiway three days ago......can't wait to start riding it. Excited..🤗🤗🤗🤗
awesome, hope it works out for you , mine has been great so far.
Awesome! I think you have helped me make a decision to get the Himiway. I really appreciate all of your excellent videos. Great job. Looking forward to seeing more!
So did you order the himiway or the rad . I also have a hard time to decide between them but after the power test idk ...
@@Already100 I’m going to order the Himiway, but I live in central NY and winter is fast approaching. I’m going to wait awhile to order so I get it closer to spring.
You can adjust your wheel size in the settings to make your speedometer accurate. I put mine on 28-in wheels and it's right on.
Thank you, I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, so that will be helpful!
MY new Rad should be in a few days cant wait but the
Himiway looks good !
tell us about the motor
Glad you enjoyed and that it validated your decision. Hope the Himiways work out for you both!!
Just bought my 2nd Rover, but this looks good. 660 miles in 2 months on my first Rad. Only issue is breaks get soft very quickly.
Same here. I have been just adjusting the brake cables at the caliper to shorten the slack. Seems to still have plenty of pad left from a visual inspection.
Robert, go to Bolton and purchase the hydraulic brake upgrade. Works phenomenal!
I’d be really interesting if you were to do a range test with the himiway in both throttle only and pedal assist full speed. Something I would watch
Just purchased my himiway cruiser step through. Should be here some time in November. Excited af
Your reviews are Excellent. Very educational with a comfortable presentation
Gee thanks!
I have a RadRover with an upgraded controller and motor. I am very happy wit the acceleration and top speed. I highly recommend this bike.
Rad has some competition against the Rover....... and they also just raised the price $100 to $1599..... I have a stock Rover and love it but the Himiway looks good....very good
I looking forward to the Escape,, and saving for it..
@@MausMasher54 Me too
The Radrover set the standard back in the day. Now there are alot of bikes that out perform it right out of the box for less money.
Agreed
Alot? Where? I am not finding them
@@MommaFig1 I just picked up an Speedrid 26in Fat Tire by Ancheer. $940. Its beast for the price. 26MPH throttle only, 28MPH if you give it a little help. Depends what you're looking for. The Lectric XP is also faster out of the box, what stile bike are you looking for?
@@MommaFig1 also with a couple upgrades, the 27.5in 500w Ancheer mountain bike is a awesome bike for just under $900

Thanks for the great vid....really helps my decision process.
That power delivery happened to me while I was turning off-roading and I almost lost control, but it can be adjusted.
Always good to have it set at zero to start, and work up from there.
HIMIWAY is the best for the money .....BY FAR!! Great vids man!!
We actually just bought a Rad Rover because of your awesome reviews! 👍🏻😀 I wonder if the Rad and the Himiway are made in the same plant? They seem to have so many similar elements. 🤔
Excellent real-world review 👌🏾💯
EXACTLY. When ours arrive I have the same plan.
Your videos are great! I was interested in the Rover, but now I’m
leaning towards the Himiway!
There are a lot of good options besides rad these days 🙂
just bought my Himiway today
Thanks for the video I was curious about the rad rover, I have the himiway and I love it. I have the power assist set at 0-9 and it is great to have so many power assist options. Himiway support will also walk you through changing the modes if additional help is needed.
Another awesome compare video. You’re the only one of RUclips doing these awesome real world compares. This Himiway kicks the Rad. Sorry Rad fanboys!
agreed how can so many fan boys/girls not be SCREAMING REFUND
or total recall of all bikes in collusion with Bafang labeling a 750 WATT
motor and is a TRUE 500 Watt. Mr. Citizen and Kyle at Bolton saved me
from purchasing this Rad deception. Crickets and Cicadas from the Rad Co, and the Rad Fans. What say you?
I say I still love my Radrover 5.
@@seriouskite My 2019 RadRover is about 18 months old now, and I've upgraded it with Bolton's controller. I don't know how the Himiway compared in 2019, but it's clearly the better bargain/bike now. And most likely would be my choice today.

Thanks Tron, glad you liked the comparison, I hope to do more!
Have it set up 0-9 and I never go more that PAS3 bc it just has that much more to give... awesome bike.. glad I went Himi over Rad
Good tests. If the Hamiway is also more stable (because of the greater power), the brakes are equally good, I would go for the Hamiway...
Very good video. Lots of great info.
I have almost 400 miles on my Himiway Step Thru. Every ride is a blast!
How do you think the quality is on the Himiwaay bike as far as parts and motor thanks for your response
Awesome feedback, thank you for sharing your experience with the bike! Good point about bike lunging towards obstacles.
I took off the front fender as those hooks on the side stick out too far and have snagged on things on the trail.
nice comparison, I have the himiway step thru and love it. just wondering, what watch are you wearing?
Awesome review, thanks for the video.
Excellent video comparing the two bikes. Would your findings be the same with the non step through versions of both bikes? Thank you.
That is something I am investigating
One can go into the pedal assistance programming to modify it for 0 to 9 pedal assistance levels; with each specific level of pedaling assistance having its own desired appropriate power output levels; one can for example in the case of the nine pedaling assistance levels define specific desired motor controller to electric hub motor power output levels; that are evenly split:
level 1; 10% of 750 watts is 75 watts power output
level 2; 20% of 750 watts is 150 watts power output
level 3; 30% of 750 watts is 225 watts power output
level 4; 40% of 750 watts is 300 watts power output
level 5; 50% of 750 watts is 375 watts power output
level 6; 60% of 750 watts is 450 watts power output
level 7; 70% of 750 watts is 525 watts power output
level 8; 80% of 750 watts is 600 watts power output
level 9; 90% of 750 watts is 675 watts power output
one can also go into the pedal assistance sensitivity and adjust that also as well
I know what you mean about not trying hard pedaling uphill and applying extra force.
WHY the HECK haven't any American companies engineered a high quality nominally priced ebike, especially with the incredibly increasing demand for them, instead of us having to rely upon importing them from overseas countries like China?
awesome video! what the rider position like? Can you get a bend in your elbows or are your arms streched out straight? Thanks for any info
If himiway is taking off rapidly, it is using your battery less efficiently. And it an also be putting more wear and tear on your motor at least initially. But uphill I think it would be an advantage since it cuts the needed to negotiate a hill.
Rad Refunds 500W vs. 750 Watt proof in 2020 the DECEPTION and willing COLLUSION of
Rad Bikes with Bafang labeling the motor as a 750 Watt and installing 500 Watt motors.
I ride Volt 750 Yukon, not affiliated with anybody, Bryan Mr. Citizen Cycle and Kyle at Bolton
prevented me from this looming Class Action Law suit.
Both have disc brakes front and rear which do a great job. Neither has regen.
Thanks for the great video.
Thanks for your Video 👍
thanks for checking it out , hope it was helpfule
Himiway all day seems great quality and true motor rating and better price seems almost too cheap for that leval of quality...
What type of bike rack can you purchase to transport 2 of these Himiway Cruisers that can be attached to your car receiver hitch (2 inch)? Thanks and love your videos!
Suggestion: Lower the power on the first two settings and feather the throttle when first taking off. The start won't be quite so alarming.
Great Video, Thanks.
And I can confirm, Himiways do get up and go.
Most people seem like to be buying the Rad Rover, but I am looking at Himiway. I am over 300 lbs and there are a lot of hills in Maine, so am interested in the extra power. The only thing I don't like is handle bars are more forward and with my back issue might be a problem.
You definitely might want to look into getting a different set of handlebars, I've noticed you do have to reach for the himiway bars.
How does the Himi compare to your suped up Rad? Great video as always!
I want to know that as well..
@@terrynelson2385 - Bigger motor, bigger battery...not quite a fair assessment, but would be interesting nonetheless!
I can’t believe the throttle response and acceleration of the himiway ! It blows away Rad , and juiced . It’s honestly not much slower than a Sur Ron
Sorry about previous comment as the single drivetrain was a different model Rad than the one you reviewed. My error 👍
What about after-sales/service, customer satisfaction and product longevity that Rad bikes are known for? These three items are worth the difference in price and it isn't like Rad pretends this product goes above 20 mph (they do make products with huge batteries and stronger motors, but they won't be $1,500).
I’m looking forward for the video that you go through the custom settings
Very helpful, thanks.
You're welcome!

You should also do a leg accessibility for the step through. This should be done for people with mobility problems
Those hubs are pressed fit, so make sure you have the proper equipment before you try and crack one open! Lovin' that Himi top speed! I have a Class II folder that I travel with, so am just looking for a Class III for commuting to tennis and errands so want the higher speed.... Himi looks like the bike to beat!
i'm trying to open the hub motor now and it is being super difficult. the other 2 motors i opened were a piece of cake.
Really awesome good job
Crazy question, the headlight on the himi looks cool. I have the radrover and looking to upgrade. Does that headlight seem compatible with your rad?
Apparently the Himiway headlight is by far better lighting up in front of you compared to the Rad Rover light.
@@dalewatkins9889 I ended up buying the premium headlight upgrade from rad. It's a much bigger, better light and look.
Great vid ! keep them coming :)
I’m inpatiently waiting for for my himiways to be delivered,I only hope my wife can handle it
Yes I’m still waiting for delivery
Like your presentation. Like the bike concept, but the company is a little suspect. I think they are a Chinese company that wants to move RadPower bikes out of the space and take market share. Is it not funny to you that the RadRover and the Himiway look very similar? It’s a little curious.
Bought the Himiway very happy with bike wish there was more on how to use . but very fast
I set my Himi Cruiser PAS to 0-9. I usually ride in PAS 3-5.
Thanks...still awaiting my Himi step-thru to arrive, and this type of information will be very helpful...appreciate it!
What do you think of the position of the controller box being under the bike. Do you think it needs added protection or moved?
Why didn't you do all the upgrades and make this your bike as opposed to the rad? What would this bike do with a controller upgrade?
Test drov rad rover 6 plus….liked it….went next door test himiway zebra….WOW!
Agreed, that rad step thru seems slower than my other rads
So! Which one is you favorite the stock Rad or the Himiway?
What app. Are you using for this video?
