E-Bike Question of the Day ⚡ What's your take on all-terrain, fat tire e-bikes like the Himiway Cruiser? Do you see the appeal, or would you prefer to get an electric mtb? Let us know in the comments below 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
I bought both, and I prefer the fat tire over mtb! Much more stable, comfortable (using the same seat), and easier to ride. I am 76 years old, been a motorcycle rider for over 60 years and I am a diabetic, disabled veteran, 6'1", and obese. My first e-bike was a 1000watt mountain bike, then I bought the 750watt Himiway Cruiser, tho I should have got the step-thru cruiser because I have problems getting my leg over the cruiser. I try to ride every day, I love meeting my neighbors. I live in the Sierra's in California, and there are no bike paths but plenty of bike trails! The only real problem riding here is avoiding Mountain Lyons!
Thanks for sharing, Bill. Glad to hear you're finding a lot of enjoyment getting out and meeting neighbors! Good insights with you owning both types - you can never underestimate the difference that comfort makes to keep you riding more. Keep safe and ahead of the wildlife!
There are some major points that you did not address like the battery is 17 amp hours. You don't have to pay extra for fenders and lights and a rack and they even give you the tools and a hat is what I saw on the website. I got the ecotric Hammer bike for about 1400 dollars. But then I had to buy things a new seatpost a seat lights a and it ended up being $200. I only have one leg so I wanted to go a farther distance I bought an extra battery. I can go 40 miles at the least with two batteries. These must have a really good throttle only distance. It was really hard to get bikes last year I got mine in 3 days. How long does it take to get one of these? It took me almost two months to get a battery these days.
What drew me to this bike is the weight capacity. I'm a heavier person (around 300 lbs) and I was disappointed to see that most ebikes out there are only capable of carrying up to less than what I weigh. It makes me happy to know that this bike can carry up to 350 lbs. I've been wanting an ebike of my own since I tried out one that a friend of mine had years ago. I really think this would make trail riding fun for me again and help me get back into the shape I used to have when I was younger.
Great comparison testing, I have the cruiser and totally upgraded it but noticed the battery doesn’t exactly tell the truth when it will deplete so I needed a second battery and will install in trailer.
I found, for the price of this bike, the review was definitely fair. One thing I see with e-bike reviews, where people tend to complain about specific's, where they basically want a Ferrari, but only want to pay a Chevy price! For those 'having to have' the top notch of components, go look at the other models that have them, rather than come to a middle of the road price point e-bike, and then complain that it should have this or that! In my local area, they sell Rad e-bikes (similarly to the Himiway) and another brand that is well over this budget pricing, basically 'triple' the cost of the Cruiser, and when going on their Group site, you'll find folks complaining about certain aspects as well! It's common for us to all want the best for the $ spent, so keep that in mind when looking at e-bikes in general, where like with many things, you get what you pay for, and as shown here, for the average e-bike rider, the Cruiser & Escape e-bikes are value for the $ spent, which will last you may years! Oh, and it doesn't hurt having a 2 year warranty either!
Thanks for this! I'm looking for a bike that will be great for exploring on the weekend, and will get me to work during the week... This bike is definitely a contender!
Stay away from this company they suck, they are trying to rip me off for 550.00 plus. If you can't walk into the dealer and talk to them face to face then i would not buy the bike.
I also changed the assisted setup to 0-7 and reset the power on each setting. Yesterday I was able to achieve 42mph on level paved ground. I checked the speed with my iPhone GPS, was within 1mph! I have charged the Himiway 2 times and it averages between 40 and 50 miles before it is at 2 bars. I use a cycle satiator for charging, which is one of the best chargers in my opinion.
@@trueformoblivion8557 I will try to remember but I got the settings off of RUclips. from a review. I also found that I had my Himiway on the wrong setting for MPH I had kilometers. Go figure I am 76 OLD...
Great video! I bought these for me and my girlfriend for Christmas and we absolutely love riding them! I would like to mention that these bikes DO come from the factory with a “max speed” limit setting, but you can go into the computer and raise the limit. On a flat surface, you can get up to around 30 mph or more, depending on how hard you pedal. Oh, and I plan to upgrade to hydraulic brakes on both bikes in the near future. You can also change the 48 tooth front sprocket to a 52 tooth model, which will give you even more pedaling power. (Not that you need it….these bikes are beasts!)
I have been looking at e-bikes or some time, several other channels have had a review on the bike. I think you even did one before so this didn't have any surprises for me. in fact I ordered my Cruiser a few days ago, keep up the good work, great video
Very helpful i just ordered my himiway bike cant wait to start riding it. This was very informative makes me more extricated to get out and start riding
Enjoyed the review. I do have a question, though. I’m a 67 yr old female 5’4” tall. I am in fairly good shape. Is this bike going to be too heavy for me? I won’t run out of battery on my rides, but the 60 lbs of bike concerns me a little. Any insight would be helpful.
The only thing that reviewers never mention is the fact that Himiway has NO warranty. They do claim to have a 2 year warranty but they will only ship you replacement parts if you pay the shipping which is four times the cost of the part and then you must install it yourself. There is no actual warranty read the warranty policy. I know because I have had to use it.
It's worth calling ahead to any bike shop to make sure they are okay with working on e-bikes. For most basic maintenance they shouldn't have a problem. But for anything with the motor, battery, or sensor they might not work on those.
Hey, my bike broke down on 08/25/2020 and as of today 05/14/2021 its still not fixed and himiway does not respond to email and voicemail. check every local bike dealers and not one would look at the bike.
My Himiway Cruiser came with KENDA without white stripe tires, and not Juggernaut tires! Is there a difference? I added the Bolton hydraulic disc break upgrade. Works so much better....
Their website says they stock them with Kenda Fat Tires. That could be Juggernaut, or Krusade, or something similar. As long as they are getting you puncture resistant fat tires you should be okay. Glad you are liking the hydraulic brake upgrade! We're fans of upgrading to those if you don't mind the price of it.
Hey Bill, I am curious about the cost of the hydraulic brake upgrade. I have limited gripping ability and wanted to know how much grip strength is needed between standard and hydraulic? Thanks for your help.
@@bluetaurus13 The hydraulic brake upgrade was $150.00 or so from Bolton. They are out of stock but I see you can get them in other places. Google it. Grip strength was not a problem as it seems to be less than with only the cable.
The Cruiser D3 is on sale. I'm thinking of picking it up, but I figure I should ask, since you've probably had the bike a good long while, have you had any issues with it crop up over time? I had issues with a Ride1Up 700 series, and that one just felt like any maintenance you did was an uphill battle, and it kept getting worse and worse. Wanna make absolutely certain I don't step into a situation like that again.
I have been waiting about 2 months and just got an email stating it might take even longer do to battery delivery times . I hope I didn't make over a $3000 mistake ( I ordered 2 ).
Had so much trouble with Himiway. They tried to replace my faulty motor 3 times instead of letting me ship the bike back for a replacement. Took 6 months and I had to take it to a mechanic to replace. Then, still didn’t work and they wanted me to buy another one and return the old one before they would send me a new one. I think they’re customer service is in China? Just get something local because Himiway doesn’t know how to fix their problems.
It's tough to just ever say one over another where it can be pretty subjective as to what is better for you. We'll be testing out the RadRover later this year (in the hopefully not too distant future) and hopefully that'll help!
After watching the entire video my first and foremost thought is Pierce sounds as though he works for or was getting compensated in some way by Himiway. He sounds like an advertisement for the brand. Just my opinion. BTW we own two Himiways.
Thanks for the feedback! We always try to be transparent on these matters and, yes, we do charge fees to do the reviews to cover the associated costs since testing typically spans a few weeks. Our reviews are never meant to sound like an ad or an endorsement - we just try and talk about what the bike is and what the bike is not, as well as our thoughts on how it felt to ride the ebike. We leave a link to a more comprehensive written review in the description that dives into more detail about what does and doesn't work well on this bike while keeping everything in the context of how much you're paying for it. How have you liked your Himiways? Any parts of the review you agree or disagree with?
I’m looking at buying one. How is the bike and customer support? It looks like someone in the comments here got ripped off and is very angry. But is it believeable? It could be a Troll that just has it out for the company?
@@GodofWarChuka The bike is just fine for the cost. The customer service has historically been bad. It's a Chinese company and all dealings are done via email. As long as you get a good bike shipped to you......it's a fairly good deal. Anything breaks and you are pretty much on your own or buying parts from local bike shops. In all honesty if I could go back in time 8 months I'd have bought our two from another company and spent a little more money. Do NOT believe anything on their web site or their Facebook page. They manage and censor all content and only allow good things to be written.
Had nothing but problems with my Himiway. 2 motor controllers replaced and now waiting on Himiway to replace the entire bike. Beware...Himiway's after the sale service is frankly terrible. | would never buy from them again.
They should be the same price?? And no, they are virtually the same speed. You can take the throttle to 20 mph and cruise from there, but no cruise control that can be set to a given mph though.
im looking to save money on gas between work and shopping for food how well does this do on snow and ice all my needs are usually 1 to 2 miles so i am more concerned on longevity
We haven't tested it ourselves on snow or ice. In general, fat tires handle snow better than their regular counterparts. If you are going into icy areas you're better off looking at studded tires.
Just got mine couple of days ago. Ordered on March 4th received on March 12th. I was very active with the customer support team, believe its in China, pushing for shipment. Don't know how it would be if I hadn't done that.
I would not order from them again. Placed my order for a cruiser I was lied to consistently buy himiway About how and when the shipping would take place. What they did not realize I ship worldwide constantly and so I know how shipping works and they just flat out lied about it. I finally had to create a dispute with PayPal and received all my money back. I think the bikes appear to be great but I would not do business with this company. If I found a used one I would buy it in a heartbeat but as for giving any of my money to this company no way.
Shipping times have varied wildly since the pandemic started on most bike sales - including Himiway Cruisers. You can try reaching out to Himiway to see if they can give you a current estimate.
My concern is lifting this bike onto a bike transport. I love the power. Not sure about pedaling this heavy of a bike. Seems I would have to constantly be using pedal assist. Would that be a bad thing?
In general fat tire bikes can be tough to pedal without the PAS since the tires are so wide. If you keep enough air in them though it won't be too difficult on flat trails. They have good-sized batteries at 17.4Ah so if you want longer rides you can put it in low PAS and get plenty of miles in one shot.
Fat tires are just aesthetics in my opinion. Just imagine the load & weight-bearing on that motor drains the battery quick. Sure you can cruise any terrain but, for how long? Some consumers are forced to upgrade to 750 watts than the lesser one after a while. It's a terrible thing to experience dragging this bike or pedaling back when you run out of power .
I think there's a little more to fat tires than that. A lot of people like letting air out of them for an even more cushy ride. Also, you're right that any full size fat-bike is a bit of a chore to pedal when the battery dies. But to Himiway's credit this one comes stocked with a very large battery and so running out of juice shouldn't be a problem you encounter too often.
The company does not honor their deals. If they mention any gift that come with purchase. Be sure to screenshot them. Later they cant remember doing it. Find a different bike to buy.
@@ElectricBikeReport try riding max speed and jump on a air bed crash the bike on the wall, and boom there you go a crash test and possibly a broken arm lol 😂
Himiway has raised the price by an extra $200 from $1399 to $1599. What new components have been added to justify that? Hey guys you got upgrade something to make it worth it ...AGAIN.!
It's a tough time for the industry to keep prices low. Tariffs, increased costs on materials, supply chain issues, etc. are affecting basically every manufacturer right now.
Disappointed watching real customers reviews on the actual "all terrain" capabilities on sand, gravel, ect. Overwhelming feedback of poor performance in gravel & beach terrain.
I'm 60yrs old and the Himiway Cruiser goes on terrain I wouldn't have attempted if I was 12yrs old! After just 200mi in 3 weeks, wish I had time for more, all I can say it's a blast
Haven't seen it done on this bike yet. It should be just fine. Just keep in mind, this bike has some punch. So ease into the speed as best as you can for the sake of 4-legged friends along for the ride 🐶
Have ebikes become a scam? I have watched several you tube reviews on ebikes and they all have wonderful things to say about the bikes. Then i visit their facebook page and see many, many complaints. Most are about the company not answering the phone or emails about problems. Many are wondering where is their ebike. Are these companies sending you one quality and their customerss another? I emailed one of those companies about all the complaints seen on their facebook page, and the next day all the complaints were wiped.

Interessant!!!
Fat tires are just aesthetics in my opinion. Just imagine the load & weight-bearing on that motor drains the battery quick. Sure you can cruise any terrain but, for how long? Some consumers are forced to upgrade to 750 watts than the lesser one after a while. It's a terrible thing to experience dragging this bike or pedaling back when you run out of power
.
@@ElectricBikeReport Sounds like a true Salesman...
The company does not honor their deals. If they mention any gift that come with purchase. Be sure to screenshot them. Later they cant remember doing it.
Find a different bike to buy.
guy be testin these like there cars
If only we could figure out how to safely do the crash tests!
@@chuckymurlo5654 thank you very much. I just keep getting mixed info, but this one seems kinda like a top contender.
How do you think it would be towing a trailer? Dog trailer.
Haven't seen it done on this bike yet. It should be just fine. Just keep in mind, this bike has some punch. So ease into the speed as best as you can for the sake of 4-legged friends along for the ride 🐶
If you need a Himiway fix your out of luck. I have three of them. Two are broke down. Nothing but bull shit from thim. Check the BBB sight.
Not a serious review. It has a really good battery, or so he says.
everything is just copy and clones from all these no names. don't get the point of reviews anymore.
