Yeah, just like with any off-road tires (truck, ATV, mountain bike...), you need to adjust the PSI for the terrain. You'll see on the side of the Kendas the available range of pressure starts at 5psi. That's for sand.

I do not think the bike is too miles too fast - most mesurements are not 100% accurate. A guy in Germany made a test with a Himiway City Cruiser and the bike showed higher values than his GPS. My Bosch powered pedelec showes a little bit higher values too. I tested it with a stationary radar speed control. Looks like many bikes show a little bit too much speed. :-)
Pedal assist on Zero is a safety place. If You had working throttle on 0 setting You could accidentally rocket away when You did not want too. Open the settings and You can do 28 MPH easily at setting 5 +
@@И.Д-п5к No that's not correct. If You have the peddle assist set at any number from 1- 5 or 1- 7 or 1 -9 and roll the throttle the bike will take off. Did You understand what I was saying above ? If You are off the bike and it's left on a peddle assist number You could grab the bar and cause the bike to race off without You on it. Got that ? Putting it on ( 0 ) peddle assist keeps it safe. Does that make sense ?
Tech and others, Hopefully I just got a couple of bad parts on my H Cruiser, but Im'm wondering if this bile just might not do so well in hilly area. Opinions?
I actually show it in use in quite a hilly area including commenting on its ability to make steep climbs. You still have to pedal it, though. Class 2 ebike power limits mean you will still need to pedal to get up steep climbs. It's that way with every Class 2 ebike and not just this one. However, this is otherwise a good climber by Class 2 standards.
@@TheTechofTech -It climbed well, but after I did one repair(pas) the next time out(1 1/2 miles(uphill. 68 degrees, I weigh 150) it went down. Overheated I think. Maybe the Hall sensors burned. I haven't one the repair yet, but bought a kit to retrofit my old mountain bike which is working great. The Himiway has 160 miles on it.
Had so much trouble with Himiway. They tried to replace my faulty motor 3 times instead of letting me ship the bike back for a replacement. Took 6 months and I had to take it to a mechanic to replace. Then, still didn’t work and they wanted me to buy another one and return the old one before they would send me a new one. I think they’re customer service is in China? Just get something local because Himiway doesn’t know how to fix their problems.
Part of the reason for Himiway's relatively low prices is that, yes, they are nearly entirely operated out of China. However, all ebike brands are struggling with parts and customer service right now.
That’s literally me. 😂 What I’m showing is how you can change the speed at which PAS shuts off, and you can change how quickly the motor ramps up to full power from a stop. You can’t keep the motor from hitting full power from a stop, but you can make it drop off at a very slow speed.
My himiway came without the white stripe on the tires. What is the type of KENDA tires? Did you say puncture resistant? I also upgraded the brakes to Bolton Hydraulic. Big improvement..I am 275lbs.
Very nice review. I just got mine last week and have been sorting out the power assist levels, which I recommend. I thought your review was very balanced, but I am curious if you were supplied with a bike from Himiway. It's no problem if you were, but I'm just curious how this all works as I watch yours and others review bikes. Thanks and again, excellent review.
I said Himiway provided it for evaluation in the video (literally the very first thing I talked about) and full disclosure is in every video description.
@@TheTechofTech Thanks,,,didn't mean anything by my Q and I was probably getting ready to watch the video and just missed that part. Again, very helpful and well done video. I have subscribed to your channel.

If it doesn't use Cadence or Torque how does it work? You said speed but I don't understand the variables involved. Comments appreciated. Rick from Kansas
It does have a way to sense that you are pedaling, but I think that's in the hub. PAS then tries to get you to a specific speed, so it will use full power even on PAS 1, for example, to try to get you to 10mph, then the power goes to zero. Contrast that with other methods that have PAS 1 giving you consistent assistance regardless of speed (up to the set maximum speed).
I bought my Himiway Cruiser in January of 2020. It has a Cadence sensor on the crank and has parameters to adjust in the display settings. I see on their site dated 7/20/20 that states "Himiway Bike is going with the speed sensor. The torque sensor and the cadence sensor are unavailable." Is this a supply chain issue? I also have seen recent other reviews that say it has a cadence sensor. Note: One of the first things I did was to adjust the PAS settings and percentages. At default levels with PAS at 0-5 the power percentage is 50% at level 1. That is way too high in my opinion and could cause problems for new riders. That creates a Jackrabbit start effect that is not very conducive to battery range/distance also. Nice Review
Good review. I would just add that it's a lot easier to install the tail light first, then put on the rack. Also, I agree on the braking, but I think I caught this in your video too. Mine make an awful lot of noise. I did make sure they are adjusted right, but maybe do you know any tips on quieting those down? They're effective as hell, but just loud. Otherwise, great bike. Totally the sort you can put 30mi on at a time...
Disc brakes are noisy when they get wet or dirty. You can wipe them down with alcohol before a ride to make sure you're starting with a clean surface, but there is nothing unusual about the noise, unfortunately.
You say that it is logical only because you have the budget to buy one. You aren’t going to get anywhere near the range or climbing power the Himiway Cruiser has in a mid drive ebike without spending several thousand dollars more.
Wow, thanks for such an in-depth review! I would want just ordinary pedaling with pure throttle, (no pedal assist), so I can use the power for ONLY going up hills, and avoid switching the pedal assist on and off all the time! Does anyone know what bikes have that capability?
You can set your Himiway level 1 pedal assist for 1 mile an hour. And you have full throttle at that point so basically it’s just as good as a full throttle
I have had a Himiway since 1/21. I now have 175 miles on it and wonder if the odometer is correct? I rode it yesterday with a GPS Speedometer program on my iPhone XR and found that the program shows 10mph when the display shows 18mph. Is there any way to correct the display?
Interesting. It’s possible your wheel diameter is set wrong. I show a lot of the hidden settings and how to access them here: ruclips.net/video/cDu6qtnTWxo/видео.html
I have noticed that the Advertisement for this Himiway Cruiser in the USA features a 750 watt motor where as the exact same advert for a european purchase only has a 250 watt motor?? And the price is the same in the USA and Europe? Bit of a rip off is it...
you will be waiting for a while. I spoke with a tech up there and here is what he told me. I ordered my on March 17th and it was one day after they sold out. 2 things will factor in, 1 they were out and had ordered another batch. This batch was still at $1450 So if you paid that amount they should be in before late March. They are now selling the new batch at $1599 and those won't be shipping until late May. The second factor you are going to have to deal with is your shipping company. I have heard that because of it's size you will get a message saying it will be there that day and then it doesn't show up. They hold off until they have a truck that will handle the delivery. (It sucks but 2 people have stated this happened to them.) If it does you might ask to pick it up personally. Hope this helps because I am wanting to ride now as well!
@@TheTechofTech , then I need to watch your video on changing settings. I plan on using an e-bike in hilly, rough terrain and the speed needs to be much lower than 10mph. Maybe a torque sensor is what I seek?
Oh, torque sensing pedal assist is absolutely the best form of pedal assist. Check out my videos on the RipCurrent S Step-Thru. They'd apply to the non-step through if that was your preference as the components are the same. It's a lot more expensive, but so are all bikes with a torque sensor.
You just line it up like you see in photos for any bike, really, then remove those bolts, add the derailleur guard, and reinstall the bolts. I like to have rack mounts on top of the guard rather than under, so you would put guard then rack then bolt when reinstalling. It’s super easy to figure out if you just hold it in place.
As I mentioned in the video, Himiway sent this to me to review. I do know that demand has skyrocketed since I published this, and deliveries have been delayed.
I need help. I bought a Himiway and received it 2/15/21. All good out of the box and for 3 rides. On my 4th ride lost all power had to walk it home. After checking all connections and finally getting to tech support it was determined controller was the problem. I paid $99 to have a new controller. It has been 11 days and my controller has not been confirmed for delivery. Please help.
There is no way I would pay for a new controller and only had the bike for less than a month. They should have sent the part free with the faulty one sent back. I won't be getting this one. I've narrowed it down to 4, Super Monarch Crown AWD 1500, Super Monarch AWD 1000, Cyrusher XF800 1500W, Rad Rover 5.
I have a step thru version and it’s plenty powerful.. I’m doing 15 mph up hills I could barely make it up on my MTB … I am going to hydraulic calipers , as the stock ones only squeeze from one side and are underpowered .. but that’s my only complaint .. and I live in Hillsville ..
I've heard that, but I don't know because as I said in the video, they sent me this for evaluation. I've also heard that if you pay via PayPal, which you can do with a credit card, you are not charged the bank fee.
Himiway does not charge this fee. The fee would be charged to you by your credit card company or bank. You need to check with your credit card company to see if they would asses this fee because some do and some do not.
I reset pedal assist 1 down to 20% of motor which gives me an average of 7 mph. #2 at 35% or 18 mph #3 at 50% or 24 mph #4 at 75% or 28 mph #5 at 99% or 32 mph
The percentages are not of motor power. PAS will use 100% motor power at all settings if needed to get to the speeds you’re referring to. In fact, if you take 35mph as the theoretical max speed of the motor, then your percentages line up with the max speed to which they provide pedal assist.
@@TheTechofTech As I recall, when you reprogram pedal assist the screen displays motor in percentages. I chose the lower setting for pedal assist 1 because I wanted better control in tight places. The configuration I cruise around in most frequently is PA 3 and gear 7. Approx. 23 to 25 mph. This bike is tall and heavy. I tried riding it into the garage a couple of times but if you lose your balance it’s hard to recover and that’s when your right hand inadvertently turns the throttle and zip right into the side of your car. I now stop next to the sidewalk where I can dismount using the extra 4 inches of curb height and then use the walk mode up the driveway and into the garage where I immediately turn power off to prevent further mishap. This bike is a beast and I mean that in a positive way. However, taking a cavalier approach to operating your Himiway will eventually lead to a catastrophe of minor or major proportions. Another piece of advice is on major streets enter the left turn lane. Hopefully, you can make eye contact with the driver next to you. When the light turns green use the throttle to power through the intersection then resume pedaling. Much cleaner process. I also advise turning power off when your among people. This bike can really jump if you accidentally trigger the twist throttle. I can see why so many RUclipsr’s swap them out for thumb throttles.
I had to rewatch the video just to see what you’re talking about, and you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m rarely anywhere near 10mph, and that’s when I’m climbing hills, which you can tell by how loud the motor is.
The Himiway Electric Cruiser is nice. However, the Customer Service at Himiway is terrible. Can never get a straight and honest answer from Himiway. Shipping and Delivery is NEVER on time or accurate. Let the Buyer Beware.
Have to get a knife to cut out the handlebar ends to use end caps, and mechanical brakes are weak - all adults going more than 12 mph should have hydraulic brakes, and 2- piston will be OK. Sand is very harsh on these brakes, and there is a big difference moving to hydraulic brakes which generally are about 3 + times more expensive than mechanical brakes...but it's your safety. Front wiring could be much cleaner. However, for the money - with the 2 year warranty - this Himiway is a good value, and among the best in class.
Why do they throw a cheap motor on that bike??? I really don't understand that kind of logic otherwise the bike is great. But I have to laugh a little bit when you were coming up your driveway and saying yeah what a great job, I don't know about that. Otherwise good video seems like a nice bike other than the motor.

If You are off the bike and it's left on a peddle assist number You could grab the bar and cause the bike to race off without You on it. Got that ? Putting it on ( 0 ) peddle assist keeps it safe. Does that make sense ?
how about a trail test with the new 0-9 pas settings and a comparison with how the aventon and juiced did!!!!
Yay! I’m glad I have same bike😂❤
Mototriporg is a spam bot...post the same on multiple channels!!!
Just purchased one last week, the rear rack is now an additional $80. Can be purchased without it though
Thank you!
You can change how much torque is delivered throughout the level assist range.
Common misconception, but no, you are only changing how fast the torque drops off to zero. It is always full torque at a stop.
@@TheTechofTech ruclips.net/video/cDu6qtnTWxo/видео.html
That’s literally me. 😂 What I’m showing is how you can change the speed at which PAS shuts off, and you can change how quickly the motor ramps up to full power from a stop. You can’t keep the motor from hitting full power from a stop, but you can make it drop off at a very slow speed.
My himiway came without the white stripe on the tires. What is the type of KENDA tires? Did you say puncture resistant? I also upgraded the brakes to Bolton Hydraulic. Big improvement..I am 275lbs.
They are the Kenda Krusades. Great tires. All Kenda tires are puncture resistant, which is not puncture proof.
Was going to order one before they raised the price, just a few weeks ago. Waiting for the price drops.
It will not drop from here.
Did you cover how to increase power to 28mph? Sorry I seemed to have missed that.
Please check the BBB sight before you buy.
Please review the Scott Addict eRide Premium e-bike. This 24 pound Scott ebike is one I believe I need.
Looks like an amazing bike, but they don’t seem to provide these for review.
Hello can you adjust the seat up and down?
That is one hot bike.
So what do you think..... The Himiway Cruiser or the Aventon Aventure??? And why. Any info would be of great help. Im trying to decide.
Himiway lists it at $1,599. At 3:24 you say it's $1,499, so perhaps they've raised the price since you published the video.
Just passing that along.
Everybody increased their prices.
@@TheTechofTech I have a Vtuvia SN100 and it has the same method of providing PAS. I thought this is how the cadence sensor works.
Note:
One of the first things I did was to adjust the PAS settings and percentages. At default levels with PAS at 0-5 the power percentage is 50% at level 1. That is way too high in my opinion and could cause problems for new riders. That creates a Jackrabbit start effect that is not very conducive to battery range/distance also. Nice Review
It uses a cadence censor
YesSiRr!! Awesome looking Bike bro..I like it! LoL! Always hear good things about Himiway!! Appreciate de video Mate! Thankz for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
@@TheTechofTech I replaced my manual brake with hydraulic brakes. Big different
I ride it like a chocolate starfish.
Full shaft suspension running the motor as fast as it will go driving that faster and faster,
Where can You buy those KENDA Crusade tires ??? Can't find. - - - ->>>
After doing a lot of research a mid drive is the logical choice
You say that it is logical only because you have the budget to buy one. You aren’t going to get anywhere near the range or climbing power the Himiway Cruiser has in a mid drive ebike without spending several thousand dollars more.
How long does the power last
Which should I buy? This one or the Radrover 5?
It is up to your priorities for price versus the features you want. They both make happy owners.
The Rad Rover for sure!
Wow, thanks for such an in-depth review! I would want just ordinary pedaling with pure throttle, (no pedal assist), so I can use the power for ONLY going up hills, and avoid switching the pedal assist on and off all the time! Does anyone know what bikes have that capability?
Every Rad Power Bikes ebike allows you to have PAS set to zero yet still have access to full power via the throttle: bit.ly/3gVNtKw
I show a lot of the hidden settings and how to access them here: ruclips.net/video/cDu6qtnTWxo/видео.html
great video!!!! thanks!!!!
Thanks for watching!
I have noticed that the Advertisement for this Himiway Cruiser in the USA features a 750 watt motor where as the exact same advert for a european purchase only has a 250 watt motor?? And the price is the same in the USA and Europe? Bit of a rip off is it...
It’s the exact same hardware. It’s just a software limit required by European regulations.
MINE IS SUPPOSED TO BE DELIVERED TOMORROW CRUISER STEP OVER
Were you changing your gears often? Or you just sticked to 1?
Oh, I shifted all the time.
How long does it usually take to get delivered? I ordered mine yesterday 😃
It varies greatly. It was about 2 weeks for me from when the order was placed to when I got this, but it was in stock at the time.
you will be waiting for a while.
Would you add changing out the controller box pls.?
Not sure what you mean by that.
I'm a bit confused how speed is used to determine pedal assist? Is it a decrease in speed results in more assist?
Yes, exactly. As you slow, the motor adds power until you get back up to the speed associated with the pedal assist setting you’re on.
How do you install the gear guard ? Haven’t seen a video on this part . Thanks
How long did the bike take to get delivered to your house after you bought
As I mentioned in the video, Himiway sent this to me to review. I do know that demand has skyrocketed since I published this, and deliveries have been delayed.
I need help. I bought a Himiway and received it 2/15/21. All good out of the box and for 3 rides. On my 4th ride lost all power had to walk it home. After checking all connections and finally getting to tech support it was determined controller was the problem. I paid $99 to have a new controller. It has been 11 days and my controller has not been confirmed for delivery. Please help.
I have no influence over them.
Snatcher420, what did you decide on and how do you like it? I’m thinking of the Rad 5 plus..
I will buy one now if the price is $1499.
You won’t see that price again ever, probably. Just way too much demand for all things ebike right now.
Hey do they charge a international bank fee?
I've heard that, but I don't know because as I said in the video, they sent me this for evaluation. I've also heard that if you pay via PayPal, which you can do with a credit card, you are not charged the bank fee.
Himiway does not charge this fee. The fee would be charged to you by your credit card company or bank. You need to check with your credit card company to see if they would asses this fee because some do and some do not.
PayPal is still the workaround for that.
I reset pedal assist 1 down to 20% of motor which gives me an average of 7 mph.
#2 at 35% or 18 mph
#3 at 50% or 24 mph
#4 at 75% or 28 mph
#5 at 99% or 32 mph
How much $$ is this Bike.?
See link in the video description for current price.
Jesus, go faster than 10mph. At least some of the ride!
Plenty of opportunity, in the beginning esp.
I had to rewatch the video just to see what you’re talking about, and you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m rarely anywhere near 10mph, and that’s when I’m climbing hills, which you can tell by how loud the motor is.
I feel the only weak Link? Are the brakes. With it being 72lbs and going downhill? You cant Stop the Bike.......
My evaluation is relative to other Class 2 hub motor ebikes. Not all can make it up my driveway, which is way steeper than it looks.
Thank you for helping the rich beg through advertising.
Cut or turn down tremendously the background music hard to clearly hear what your saying.
Twang and bang?????
Yep! This is my tech channel.
@@TheTechofTech nice! Glad I found this. Im waiting on delivery if these bikes.
This looks like a RadRover 5 knockoff. I'd stay with Rad. Better accessories and customer service.
