  • Downtown East side and Chinatown are neighborhoods notoriously known for their high crime and drug use rate. I'm just trying to connect with the population and get to know their story.

Thank you for sharing Saye. It is easy to judge and question the choices others make, but what is easy is not necessarily right, or the best thing to do. We must take the time to hear them out, free of judgment and opinion, but full of compassion and understanding. This video helps us get a more clear sense of understanding about the community, and it can inspire us to do whatever we can to help them out. #eastvan #easthastings #hastingsst

You're doing great work. Talking to people, listening to what they've got to say, showing compassion... all that is the very best thing to do, and we don't do it nearly enough. Everyone is complex, can't forget that. There's a good reason ppl do what they do, always.

Man nice work! Every few years I watch content on e Hastings to remind myself of how far I’ve come when i start feeling ungrateful. 11 years of my youth over there is tough to explain to those unfamiliar with the downtown east side, but great to see you opening eyes. Thank you 🙏

Learned a lot from this video. Gave me an insight of peoples situations and why some of them could end up on the streets. Crazy... some people just made the wrong choice or they had no choice.

Just people talking to people ❤️ I was on the streets in Winnipeg for a bit at 17. Human compassion is so key. I still have 2 full garbage bags of clothing that I'm going to donate to the downtown Eastside woman's shelter. Hopefully there's some butch women who are in need of basically brand new clothes

Great video. Seeing the previous inmate’s experience really shows us how corrupt the justice system in Canada is. We have so much to work on and devillianizing people trying to simply survive is one of them. Keep it up Saye! 💪🏽

I find it hard to sympathize with a lot of these folks as so many of them seem to just go the self-pity route and not accept personal responsibility for how no one made them do drugs other than themselves in the first place. They may have had their reasons for using, but that shouldn't negate them from accepting the fact that it's mainly they themselves who messed their own life up. I think the first step to beating addiction is to face the demon in the mirror and not look away.

How can they face themselves when they're constantly exposed to being antagonized and demonized, I wanna see you type that out again after you've become a traumatized victim trying to survive and getting this same criticism

These people are giving up on themselves. I doubt if they really wanted to walk out of this situation. Getting a legitimate job to maintain a simple life isn't too difficult, is it ? They just can't part with drugs.

I don't open up my windows anymore on Hastings street before 10 AM because I made too many videos of people being scooped up because they died on the filthy streets majority native Canadians including elderly native lady and they park A-tent now they have A-tent I call it the dead people's tent. 💔 And I can still see the youngest Indian man who overdose to death and they frantically tried to save him for over almost an hour his eyes haunt me they were dead man eyes I can still see them in my head many days.💔 And I put that on my channel

I'm so sorry for Canada. Most things about a good Canada are not true, Including clean cities - beaches, and forests. It's a big lie. The first time I arrived in Vancouver in 2018, I was shocked. As soon as I left the airport door, I saw tissue, disposable glasses, and other garbage left in the city. The further I went, the more I saw them. Before I moved to Canada, I lived in Georgia, Armenia, Turkey, Serbia, The United States, and for a short time in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Netherland, Germany, and England, but I have never seen the amount of garbage that people leave in different Canadian cities. Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec are no less than Vancouver. Canadian and Canada Governments don't care about this tragedy. I think everything that says about Canada as a clean and powerful culture is not true. You don't need to travel to Canada to see this. Just watch some videos about walking in downtown Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Quebec. You will find the truth. Impossible for you to walk in a Canadian city and you don't see the dark side of that. Everywhere you will see garbage. You will never see this in Europe, Australia, the United States, Japan, and Korea. This amount of waste is not even seen in Malaysian, Indonesian, or Thailand cities. It is impossible for you to use public transport and not see a lot of garbage at stations or on the route. You will be surprised to find a lot of garbage even in the woods - by the rivers and on the beaches in Canada.

Actually not ture at all. Toronto is a very clean city. Vancouver is dirty in some parts and in E Hastings it is as shown in the video. But the US and some cities of Europe (Paris, Marseille, ...) are as dirty as some parts of Vancouver or even worse. Take a closer look at LA or NYC...
