Downtown East side and Chinatown are neighborhoods notoriously known for their high crime and drug use rate. I'm just trying to connect with the population and get to know their story.

Thank you for posting my daughter went to Hastings with her new boyfriend on May 11 and she called me crying two nights ago but now she's not responding.
I've been told by people she is hanging out with not to contact police or she'd get hurt.
So I am going to Hastings in the next few days if I don't hear from my daughter again. She birthed my three grandchildren and she is my life.
Unfortunately she's on heroin for last few months.

I was never homeless but close and definitely been without food and remember how it felt when no one was helping me so I try to help when I can. Just a couple weeks ago I saw an older man that was shivering so I gave him a lined plaid jacket and wished i could do more. I have also offered to go home and bring back blankets or comforters but the person is gone when i come right back.
