Great review. I have the G410 with the tour 65 x shaft and the Alto stiff shaft. I use the tour shaft as I hit it high and it keeps it down with my clubhead speed at 104MPH and my total distance is works for me.
I should comment more but I do watch all your reviews as they are up there with the best of them.
I have noticed no one compares older models of clubs. I have the ping G410 and T100 irons 2019
and I am itching to upgrade but no one that I have found on RUclips compares older generation with the new generation.
It’s great to see the comparison with shafts to give more insight than just the club head thank you for the great content.
Great review, thank you. Wish you would have also included the stock Alta shaft for side by side comparisons to the "upgrades".
The Ping Tour shaft have often tested, from the G30 onwards.... It is a superb "stock" shaft.
Just been fitted for a driver, tried different makes/ models but ended up with the Ping G410 LST with the Tensi Orange Stiff shaft. Not the longest I was able to hit but the most consistent
Recently fit for Cobra F9 Speedback with an Accra FX2.0 365 M4 shaft at Club Champion NJ. Tried an M3 version first but the tip wasn’t stiff enough, spin was too high. Averaged about 2,400 rpm spin and 1.49 smash factor, great combo !! Very happy with the Cobra F9 Speedback! Best ball speeds compared to TS3 and epic flash Subzero, averaged 3 mph faster ball speed on my fitting day with same shaft !
I had a f9 with 260 m5 fx. 2.0 and spin was silly. High ping g410 with tour 65 shaft was much lower and better all round. Shame cobra looked. Lovely. Still. Got the f9 fairways with fx. 2.0 m5 fairways they are. Awesome
The ping tour shaft is impressive. Stable but soft enough to be responsive. Easy to feel where the club head is. Love it.
I have the tour 65 at 43 inches with ping g400 lst added a 18 gram weight to the head so it would weigh the same as my ping strectch, it is very stable and have lost only about 3 yards in distance , but in the fairway , best thing I ever did, more confident now when I tee it up. Slim !
I have the G-400 with the Ping shaft, I believe the company did a lot testing before they made that shaft with their name on it. Mike, you are really hitting fairway finders. The ball flight patterns were overlapping. I guess my previous comments must have struck a nerve. Well a little hard work & a different perspective never hurt anybody. Give it your best.
Recently fitted at big box store in the US with the G410 plus in the Alta CB 55 stiff. Had it tested, along with my other clubs, found that the shaft came in at 7.0(extra stiff) was having to work hard to get it to perform. Was then fitted at Club Champion near Minneapolis, Minnesota, into an Accra FX 2.0 250 M3. Huge difference in numbers, increased ball speed and increase in carry by 20 yards, with tighter dispersion. Getting delivered on Monday, can't wait till the snow clears from hopefully our last snow storm, to get it onto the course. One big lesson that I learned is that what is labeled as Regular, stiff, x-stiff may not be as advertised due to manufacturing variances. So if it doesn't seem to be working right, it may be worth get it tested.
I have the Ping G 410 s.f.t. driver and have tried the Distanza, Soft Regular and regular. My swing speed is only about 80 mph or so give or take a little. I liked the regular by far. Hated the Distanza at 40 grams. Only 3 grams difference between soft regular and regular but I was much more consistent with the regular. Felt like a more solid strike with it. Just goes to show light shafts are not always the answer. A much better feeling overall with that regular shaft. Good review Michael. Would like to have seen you review soft regular and regular as well. However I did it for myself. :) Spider Dubiel
I ended up with the Tour 65. The Tensei Orange was a great shaft but my miss hits were really off with it despite my good hits going far. The Tour 65 my miss hits were still very much in play and that was more important to me than longer drives.
Matt Marcoccia same the tensi is crap
Been using a tour stiff 65 for years...
Great video/review !!
Weight is very important ,I think your video proves it ,still using my Diamana blue board 60 x in ts2 ,had it in my 917 and the numbers were better with that shaft than any of the new ones offered ,smooth and familiar feel .Have tried heavier shafts in normal stiff and I just can't hit them well, also lost distance .Price of drivers these days you really need to get fitted .Good video Mike .
I recently went through a club fitting and was fitted into an X-Stiff Accra TZ5 shaft that gave me far superior launch and spin numbers to the OEM shaft I was using. I gained 15 yards just through a shaft change.
chad hershberger ive got the tensi orange 60x it sucks gotta get fitted
Great video Michael! Enjoyed the comparison. FYI the Tour 65 is really a UST Mamiya, "allegedly" from the Chrome family line, in the Ping colors. It is one of my favorite shafts and its great this is a no charge option from Ping.
I did not know that! I love my UST elements chrome I keep putting it into new drivers it’s the greatest shaft ever. That’s super interesting. Thanks for the info.
The old graphics tour 65 were made by UST. the tour 65 with the new graphics are made by Aldilia. Pull the grip and it’s on the Shaft.
Did a Ping g410 Plus demo/fitting yesterday.......10.5 Degree in Neutral tried 3 shafts in Stiff settings......Alta CB 65 was good easy to hit a little soft dispersion was good nice penetrating flight......Tensei Orange was OK good feel bit higher and felt a little less stable in the tip and dispersion was a bit loose particularly with bad swing........Ping Tour 65 easy to hit tip felt more stable compared to the other three good penetration trajectory and dispersion was much tighter,.......moved the weight into the draw position and wow dispersion was very tight and with the more stable tip I could go harder at it and eliminate the righ5 hand side........one more driver to test and then I’ll be r3ady to order........
Perfect example of the advantages of getting fitted 👍
Bruce Crouch what did you get after testing? Do you know your swing speed? I am getting the 410 is why I ask. Thanks
I just tried many shafts in my driver and the HZRDUS Smoke is good but I hated the Evenflow - like your swing it was way to much slicing and I did not like the feeling at all. Final Round next week for me is: G410 HZRDUS SMOKE vs. Tensei Orange - let's see which shaft is going in.
I just skipped to the numbers so I don't know, but are you planning to game this driver? Spin seems too high regardless of shaft
Would like to know at what speed you should go to X flex ,? I am around 105 to 108 on average
G400 fitted with Aldida xstiff, using Ping Tour 65 bringing a high cut back to straight and @5-10 longer.
How do you think the tour shaft compares to hzrds green....playing the orange x flex right now but I’m a little more aggressive on transition and have seen increased spin as well
Great video, but to late.... lmao Was fitted and love my G410 with the Tense 60G S Shaft. Smooth feel to the swing. Very controllable . Just an Awesome setup for me. First time out hit 13/14 fairways with it.
Got fit for the Ping G410 Plus with the Ping Tour 65g shaft. Tried a variety of drivers inc the Taylor Made SIM, Titleist TS2 and Callaway Mavrik with different shaft options, but the Ping felt and performed the best. It’s important to get custom fit as there are so many options.
If I had to pick one on just looks, I'd go for the Ping. Looks like a flighted steel shaft...
The Tensei shaft maybe a fake? The ck orange ;pro should say TX for x flex instead of of a label of Xflex? Also yours does not have W tungsten logo?
TX stands for Tour X which is stiffer than a normal X…..it’s not fake 👍
Got a fitting on Thursday for the Ping, will be interesting to see the outcome
What did you end up with?
Paul Bown share the results?
The Ping shaft seemed overall more stable which is a surprise to me.
Heard it was based on the UST Mamiya Chrome.
From UST Mamiya..🥰
I use the kuro kage x 60g nice shaft, hit strong like drunk stepfather
thing is they offer a few stock shafts but anyone with a faster swing is going to the tour spec shaftso really you only have one option
Nice video
Went thru the fitting and shown tenesi orange best etc. but on course not so much. Ordered and using hzrdus black xstiff and that combination perfect for me lets me step on it when i want
Put the Tensei back in it, lower the loft 1deg and put the weight on the draw side. Tell us how you go.
Thank you, thank you very much!
Hey Michael from my research the Hzrdus shaft which You preform well is the opposite shaft from the even flow in bend profile. Even flow suppose to be more smooth tempo and Hzrdus opposite. Either way it sounds like if you hit Hzrdus well the EvenFlow is not for you. Most have said you will get a couple good shots but pretty inconsistent if it’s the wrong fit for swing. Thanks for the reviews those Ping tour shafts are pretty good.
Tour 75 X us thé golf choice 👍🏼 great review
