I had the X3 35i, with 300hp, and it was fantastic except for the initial start off like you mention. Consensus on forums is that BMW “softens” the launch via tuning/software and has done this on many different models. Otherwise I would avoid the 4cyl on the suvs as a rule, it’s just too much weight. Buy the 6 turbo and you’ll enjoy it far better.

At 11:50 you talk about how the turbolag is a big concern for when you want to quickly merge into traffic. I have a 330e, and im pretty sure its the exact same engine as this x430i, except ive got more of that instant torque from the electric system so merging isnt that much of a concern for me. Have you tried the hybrid system of BMWs?
I think the motor has been overly hampered with boost by gear, it should pull harder in the lower gears. I heave the European version in my 2 series and for how powerful it feels in 3rd, it should feel far more savage in first but it’s not, it just revs out smoothly but a little slower than one would expect. However where I have a manual and far less weight than this car, in sport mode, even in comfort if you give it the revs it will absolutely launch and launch harder than the NA straight 6 cars.

The shorter I don't think will be a deal breaker for a wagon lover, but I'm sure it'll make it much more fun to drive.
13:33 - Torque launching will rapidly increase ATF temps which will shorten the life of your transmission even if the clutch stall speed is around 2,000-2,500 RPM. Do not torque lunch your vehicle! Get a proper V6 if getting off the line fast is your main concern/objective.
Did I miss something, was this the 4 or 6 cylinder? I didn’t notice the “M” on the chrome markings. If it’s the 4 cylinder then Im curious how the 6 cylinder does off the line.
This is one of those cars where.... in the future.. “Oh, remember the 4-door coupe era? “ it’s like the AMC Pacer. It sold well initially and laughed at in hindsight.
If viewers want more shots of the exterior, they should just look them up on their own time. My favorite parts of your videos are the interior and underbody segments with commentary. Keep it up!
He's saying there is an issue with merging into traffic in 55-65 MPH roads in this car... I daily drive in the same type of traffic in my 1995 stick shift pickup.. about 120HP. We get so spoiled with modern vehicles. lol

13:33 - Torque launching will rapidly increase ATF temps which will shorten the life of your transmission even if the clutch stall speed is around 2,000-2,500 RPM. Do not torque lunch your vehicle! Get a proper V6 if getting off the line fast is your main concern/objective.
Enjoy your videos. Thank you for making them. I kindly request the 2019 Edge ST next 😊
Did I miss something, was this the 4 or 6 cylinder? I didn’t notice the “M” on the chrome markings. If it’s the 4 cylinder then Im curious how the 6 cylinder does off the line.
What's with the silver trim in front of the side mirror? It doesn't even come close to meeting up neatly.
Please make a bmw X5 plug in hybrid video!
Dude.. Kia telluride please, ride looks awesome and we need some input. Your input.
This is one of those cars where.... in the future..
“Oh, remember the 4-door coupe era? “ it’s like the AMC Pacer. It sold well initially and laughed at in hindsight.
Is there a missing bolt at 7:00?
Sure looks like it.
At 7:03, isn't there a missing bolt on the underbody panel bracket??
Coupe SUV's are sexy. All cars should be coupe style. Coupe sedans, coupe hatchbacks, coupe wagan estates. Coupes 👍
Talking about identity crisis, there's also the BMW 4 series grand coupe. It's a sedan that's called a coupe but also technically a hatchback.
Although I would take the grand coupe 4 over this any day of the week.
This "Identity Crisis" model has risen from the BMW design shittery in 2023/2024 into a iconic beauty. Okay, not quite the ass, but everywhere else.
Jack of all trades master of none.
If viewers want more shots of the exterior, they should just look them up on their own time. My favorite parts of your videos are the interior and underbody segments with commentary. Keep it up!
Great interior. I also like the brown-grey on the outside, as well.
I like the older style more. I love the style. Not for all but for me.
He's saying there is an issue with merging into traffic in 55-65 MPH roads in this car... I daily drive in the same type of traffic in my 1995 stick shift pickup.. about 120HP. We get so spoiled with modern vehicles. lol
Which is better? BMW x4 or Porsche macan?? Advise please
Sometimes i feel like only Idiots are in the car community. I totally agree with everyones opionion about the questionable look of such cars and the usefullness. BUT why is everyone complaining ? These Vehicle are obviously for NORMAL non car people who feel attracted by such cars. The masses are buying these by the thousands and we all should be glad about it because car manufacturers can put the money back in e.g. real Sport cars...
Great review!
