I love how when you load a loose round into the chamber, it makes just a really subtle 'bloop' noise, similar to what you'd get when loading a 40mm grenade into a launcher.

I found another one I considered buying but I tried it out with snap caps and it wouldn't feed either. What did you do to that one to get it to feed reliably? I would like to have another one with the shorter barrel like yours, but one that would feed decently.

I’m sure you could take it apart and get it to feed perfectly fine, I think most of the feeding issue is these are meant to drop two rounds in for cowboy action shooting, because when you buy them they pacifically want to know if you want to load multiple or just two

First, thank you for making this video. I had never seen a 70 caliber rifle before, and to see one being fired repeatedly was very entertaining. How was your shoulder after all of that rapid firing?
Second, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but I think the order of what you showed could be changed to have more continuity of what you were trying to get across, which was how powerful this rifle is. These are my suggestions, I'm certainly not trying to tell you how to film your videos:
    1. At about 3:14, you showed the close-up of the rifle, showing the wood grain and how nice this rifle looks. This is how I would have started the video. Then go into the ammunition, showing the size of the slugs and talk about the specs.
    2. After talking about the rifle and the ammunition, then you can show the targets you will be shooting, explaining how many water bottles you will be shooting through, and how you have the wet pants folded up as a back stop.
    3. Up to the 5:30 point of the video, there was a lot of shooting shown already, but the only target we really saw was a watermelon exploding. It would be better to show the individual targets you will be shooting, then show you shooting them, and show the slow-motion video of what happens when they are hit with the 70 cal round.
Something for the shooting part of the video I thought you should look at. At about 10:51, you were shooting the metal plates, showing how much smoke there was, which actually made you cough. Then at about 11:15, you showed the slugs and talked about how they mushroomed out. A about 11:51, the same footage was shown again of you shooting the metal plates and you coughing from the smoke. You can edit out the second part at 11:51.
The last thing (I'm really not trying to be difficult), at about 13:39, the descriptions and website information are all in reverse on screen, making it difficult to read.
Thank you, again, and I hope you make more of these types of videos. Very interesting to watch.

They’re pretty similarly priced, but if you’re going to hot load it, I would get the Winchester after 23 years of hot loading this 50-110 is still holding up good, whatever type of metal, the Japanese are using, it makes a really strong gun, not saying the Italian versions aren’t good I just don’t know about them how good they are for lack of experience with one, Wayne Chapman has one and he loads pretty hot

Oh my goodness! If you order one for yourself, what about getting the heavy barrel a bit longer, too? That way you can burn a little more powder, create a little more velocity, and end up punishing your shoulder as much as you do with the light version. Seriously, I hope you are putting plenty of padding inside your clothes. I love this channel, and don't want you to get hurt.

Excuse me sir, range rules prohibit firing a field artillery piece from the shoulder. That needs to be mounted on a wheeled carriage or you'll have to leave.
Just kidding, I love that thing! Beautiful color case hardening, too. Never heard of it before but I really want one now. If I get one, I'd prefer a 26 inch barrel with full length magazine tube.

How much weight do you put in the TKO, Jeremy?
In doing a little research, seems there's a couple other values that attempt to factor load power. Guns & Shooting Online KPS and Hornady HITS. Heard of them?
That cartridge almost feels like a converted 12 gauge casing. Hahaha
If you were going to have one of these made with a heavy barrel, probably also a candidate for a 4-port muzzle brake.

I personally use a modified ballistic limit equation to solve for penetration instead of velocity, and I divide the kinetic energy in ft-lbs by 1/25th of an inch of that armor, or energy in Joules by a mm of that armor.
I feel that’s got some validity to it, since I have a steel target that was penetrated more deeply by .223, but when I shot it with a .500 S&W Magnum pistol, while it still dented the target, it dented that less and it more just shoved the assembly backward into the snow.
TKO only shows half of what a cartridge is capable of doing to a target, and even then sounds more like an arbitrary number than anything grounded by example, which is what I hope my ft-lbs/1/25th inch RHA or Joules/mmRHA figures would solve.

@@camarokidbb4347 Garrett Cartridges has an interesting article on their website about ultra-hardcast .45-70 compared to .458 magnums (.458 Win Mag, .458 Lott, etc). Their claim is that due to reduced velocity upon impact, their .45-70 load out penetrates the magnums, all other factors equal. Due to a lesser understood or studied phenomenon of how velocity relates to reduced penetration using non-expanding projectiles.
