There is something like a 450 Alaska lever action..A rifle that is never seen on a used gun rack at any time of the year in Alaska..It is one of the best Alaska rifles.
The .450 Alaskan was developed on the Winchester Model 1886 and later the model 71 rifles by Harold Johnson of Cooper Landing, AK. Johnson later sold his gunsmithing business to William Fuller. Fuller developed the .50 Alaskan. The .450 Alaskan rifles built by Johnson were called Johnson Kenai Rifles. They used Buhmiller barrels.
You really need to handload the 500 S&W to make a fair comparison. Nobody factory loads the 500 S&W to anywhere near it's full potential because it would be to difficult to extract several spent cases at once fro a double action revolver. Loaded to it's potential it matches the 50-120 from the model 89.

50 Alaskan is undervalued too much. It is an ammo that should be a priority for the major players to produce. Also, the 450 Marlin is superior to the 45-70 in that the rim is belted, so it can be used in bolt action, etc. Therefore, it is superior to the 45-70 in terms of warhead convenience. Therefore, the convenience of the warhead is superior to that of the 45-70, so in a sense, it is a superior warhead, but if it had been introduced half a century earlier, it would have been dominant...
All of these lever guns on the table are weak and short-range cartridges that lose energy very quietly. As an Alaskan Hunting guide since 1989 rarely have I seen a 45-70 being used in Alaska because for large and dangerous bears there is far superior rifle cartridges to be used when your life is on the line against large bears that mean to kill you. I have been using a Winchester Mod - 70 in 338 win mag loaded with 225 grain Barns TSX bullets and a CZ 550 in 9.3x62 Mauser loaded with the 286 grain Barns TSX bullets to match the commercial loads of the 375 H&H magnum. My next hunts I will be using my AR 10 I have chambered a Pac Nor super match barrel in 375 - 300 WSM so I am able to get semi auto rifle in the magnum 375 - 300 WSM cartridge for fast cycling of all cartridges when speed is a must have. @@lurebenson7722 I don't doubt what you say. However, the .45-70 is no pushover and with correct loads (the key), it's about as good as anything and as handy as anything up close for bear defense (not as a main hunting choice). There are .458 diameter bullets for the .45-70 that penetrate beyond belief and you don't need to spit a piece of lead at the speed of light to get the job done. No bear can run faster than even a .22 short rimfire. Crushing tissue, deep penetration, and a decent sized hole is all that is necessary to get the job done on any animal, regardless of how fearful and imposing that animal is. There's bigger and badder cartridges yes, but get something loaded stoutly and .45-70 will penetrate through large sized maple trees. Besides, large high pressure magnums aren't something a lot of people can handle, shoot well, and achieve the sort of followup-shots like a lever action can deliver. Semi-autos take some tuning to function correctly and they are prone to difficulties. .338 magnums, the .375 H&H, even some speedy .30 cal stuff is fine. But a .458 sized hole and a 500gr hunk of crushing hardcast lead isn't going to stop at a couple of bones.

@@exothermal.sprocket You believe you know far more than I do, and you believe these cheap crap lead bullets are some kinds of never fail Mirical bullets far superior to the Barns TSX bullets of Hornaday GMX and CX and now all the other brains of copper expanding bullets?
When you write RUclips teenager groupie BS like that you rat yourself out that you haven't a clue about anything and have zero experiences in Hunting - ammo - bullets.
More of how you show your own ignorance and personal experiences of life experiences with guns - ammo- bullets when you talk this BS auto loaders are inferiors to lever guns and the refer to auto loaders jam.
I build to sell to shops in Anchorage Alaska the specialized AR 10 uppers in dangerous game wildcat cartridge 358 WSM and a 375 -300 WSM then a large bore 458 WSM with these uppers never fail.
The 375 - 300 WSM pushes a 300 grain bullets at 3600 feet per second and both the 375 - 300 WSM and 458 WSM I am sure can do 5000 Foot pound of energy which am sure like all the rest of the teenager RUclips groupies you believe the 45-70 has more power than a 50 BMG or more power than a 30 mm auto cannon in the noise of the A-10.
You believe you know far more than I do at 63 years old and a professional hunting guide with offered hunts in Alaska - Pacific NW - Romania plus a custom rifle builder and advanced reloader and let me remind you these wildcat cartridges I develop have NO load data I have to work up the loadings for the cartridges which I am sure you have NO idea about.
I have had dumb asses tell me it can't be done to have the AR 10 chambered for WSM cartridges then want to argue with me even when a company Arsenal decent building and selling AR 10 finished rifles have RUclips videos on these WSM chambered AR 10 rifles or KAK Industries sells AR 10 rifles in 300 WSM.
If I asked you to show how a 358 WSM - 375 - 300 WSM - 458 WSM cartridges are made you couldn't begin to say how even the cartridges are made.
But you want to talk crap how powerful the 45-70 is and lead bullets are superior to today's copper expanding bullets Because of your own RUclips brain washed BS.
Let's have a photo's sharing to show you knows more?
Let's see you in photos with dead Alaska brown bears or European red stag or Roe Buck and let's see the guns you have built then I can open my Instagram of my photos to compare who knows more so man you PUNK ! let's see what you know in photos!
If you can't man up to what you been saying, then you are talking crap out your ass common to all RUclipsr groupies and today's millennials woke gay losers.
I have my photos to prove what I say so anyone else want to talk crap me better have photos to back up what they are talking crap to me about.
@lurebenson7722 I wouldn't call them weak. I've been carrying a 45-70 for years in Montana and Alaska up until 2 years ago when I finally got a 50 Alaskan. They have done the job as designed. I'm sure you have a ton of experience, but I think you missed the mark with the weak claim.
Surprised you didn’t throw 444 in the line up
Handheld Heavy Artillery
Character way a 94 should look ,pepsights no scopes
What? No Henry??
How come 444 Marlin wasn’t on here
12 ga slug is the same thing...just a lot cheaper.
Yup
You ain’t Jeremiah Johnson…..but watch your top notch anyhow pilgrim….
@@woodrowcall3269 Ever read Jerimiah Johnson? The guy was an idiot. Always singing. Running from an Indian war party but stops to sing in an ice cave because he liked the accoustics
Not really 4570 better for longer range and higher sectional density and a 12 gauge slug 1 oz is down to 900 or a little lower foot pounds once it gets to 100 yards
At 1:48 you say the 325 grain bullet is coming out of the muzzle at three thousand feet per second...I think you need to dub over this or post a correction here. This bullet might achieve 2,000 fps at most. Otherwise a neat video and I also vote for less or quieter music
we caught that when we first edited the video. Look for the correct velocity in the green box. 1950FPS
@@MurphysGuns thank you. I’m getting 1950-2100 fps in my 25 gr 45-70 handloads, and I was wondering what I am doing wrong.
Ese rifle no puede llevar balas terminadas en punta porque se detonan, debido a los accidentes todas sus municiones deben ser de punta achatada fue idea de los creadores de los rifles a palnca
I've had 2 444s, Marlin & Winchester. The Marlin would cock & lock, a but quicker.
Video would be much better without the background music.
Disagreed.
50/110¿
Take another look at the spelling, it says, Lever "evolution", not lever "revolution".
Hard to listen to anyone who calls it a Leee-o-pold scope.
I shoot a 120mm. I have yet to see anything standing after the shot. Step up to a man’s round.
nice rifles but 460 weatherby has over 6000 ft lbs of muzzle energy.
There is no shame in laying a folded towel over your shoulder or wearing a padded shooting vest.😪
The lever revolution is a horrible bullet . Stick with big heavy hard casts
Sorry I do not watch videos with Ads, as ads contain Malware that is killing Peoples computers. Get a real job and a life!!!
I like a wide field view 4-5 power with big bore.
What about .375 Winchester? marlin 336 C. My first deer rifle dad bought my brother and I for Christmas. The only one he ever bought us. It is amazing. Nothing I ever shot human or otherwise took a step. 😳🤣🇺🇸🍺
