This is our second time descaling with your help and guidance and once again it worked like charm! Your instructions are so helpful and well done. Just wanted to say Thank You!
I’m curious if the first batch of ice after descaling will taste funny such as descaling a Keurig- you have to flush several times to remove the bad taste
My machine is about 2 yrs old. The first few cleanings worked very well. While cleaning today, I heard the squealing noise mentioned at 5:10 in the video for the first time. Wow. Really loud and sustained. After about 5 minutes of constant squealing, I shut it off and then put it back in ice-making mode, still with descaling solution in the tank. Finally starting to produce gray ice. How long should I let the squealing noise persist before I do something else?
As a former factory trained Scotsman technician, a soft squealing noise is normal. As the machine ages and scale accumulates in the auger - evaporator assembly, a loud squealing noise can be a precursor to an assembly failure. I would contact Scotsman tech support for further instruction or schedule a service call by a factory trained technician to further evaluate your ice machine.
Is there anywhere I can buy a machine that makes that kind of ice? Ever since I been to Raising Cane's, I have been looking everywhere online and had no luck.
I have had this ice maker for about 5 years. Love it. Every once in a while I would look into the machine and see it empty. I would simply turn it on and off and it would start making nice again and be fine. Not so the last 3 mos. I cleaned it prior to a Xmas party in 2022 - no prob. I followed your excellent video again and everything went like clockwork. We had ice for some time - not sure how long as we don’t use it every week, but then was dry. I turned it on and off again several times, sometimes for a few minutes, others for a few days. No ice. I just descaled again thinking that maybe I did something wrong prior. The orange light blinked as promised, and turned solid. Then stayed solid with nothing happening for over 30 minutes. No ice - gray or otherwise. Any suggestions for me? Thanx in advance’
Sounds like you may have a bad control board. You can google the main number for Scotsman and ask for tech support or you may find that number online as well. Tech support is free. Have your model and serial number handy. Tech support should guide you to a diagnosis. You can also call your local Scotsman dealer and schedule a service call. Good luck with your machine
My drain line goes to the attic , up one story. The pump that comes in the unit is not powerful enough to push it up to the attic. Is there a stronger pump available? Any suggestions on how to handle my drain line?
Your local HVAC supply house should have a condensate pump that will pump against 10 to 12 feet of head pressure. You can also order a condensate pump online. Good luck with your machine.
After completing the cleaning process. I turned it back on to start making ice and it’s making a very loud squealing noise. It’s been 10-15 min and noise isn’t going away. Is this normal? My machine is less than 1 yr old.
Mine either. I’ve cleaned mine many times before and dirty ice always came out and I had to keep adding the cleaning solution to the reservoir. Not this time What’s wrong Please advise!!
@@801Fitch I just went though this a few weeks ago and during the “cleaning process” it never spit out dirty ice, or made any ice at all. Once the process was finished I just turned the ice machine back on as normal and it made nasty ice for a few hours so I just flushed all of that down with warm water and then it worked good. Hope this helps!!
Sometimes the bottom of the cover pushes out because the ice freezes and pushes the base out. Simply readjust the cover by pressing in the bottom and the check water light goes out and the machine comes back on.
Get a different icemaker. I got one of these about 5 years ago when I built my new house. Finally got around to descaling it myself (after paying $300 to have it done professionally about 4 years ago) and found the motor corroded beyond repair. Now I have a $5,000 piece of sculpture.
Sometimes the switch that put up to turn off gets stuck with corrosion. Make sure it does go all the way up. It will stop filling once it goes all the way up.
I’ve used this video probably 8 times so far to descale mine. Crossing my fingers it keeps working properly for many more years!

This is the best video ever.
Excellent video. It helped me very much. Thank you.
Great video Thanks for saving me $$$$$
Is there a video
For the powered pump version

What do you do after you dump the sanitizing solution at the end? It didn't say how we remove or drain that sanitizing solution from the bin?
It should just drain down the line automatically.
I can’t get the time to clean light to turn off after I’ve completed all the steps in the video

Hey! My reservoir was already full before I even put the chemical in...what do I do?!
Did all the steps. Now the machine runs but does not make ice. Any ideas

How long is the whole cleaning cycle?
Also, when squirting the solution in the clear box, it doesn't fill up it. It just drains down the pipe.??
Pay attention to where you put the nozzle. Your probably putting it in the drain area not the reservoir.
Reinsert plug
Hey did you figure it out? I have the same issue.

This exact thing is happening to mine… what did you do to fix it?
Is there a link to where to purchase the cleaning solution bottles? I don't see it.
I bought them from amazon
Help! Augur did not rotate
my ice isn't spitting out and the reservoir is not lowering for me to add more solution - ideas on what might be going wrong?

Why does the check water light come on
Having this same issue if anyone knows the solution.

Do you see visible mildew?
Yea. Just means it needs cleaning. I followed his advice and used Dawn and water.

When I remove the plug in the beginning, water keeps draining and does not stop. Is there a reason for that?
You didn’t shut off the float in the reservoir @2:10
