    Minerals that are removed from water during the freezing cycle will eventually form a hard, scaly deposit in the water system. This means your ice maker needs to be cleaned regularly to remove the mineral scale buildup and to avoid premature failures of the system components.

    Good video. Will recommend you remove bottom panel and clean the condenser coil with a brush. Especially if you own pets.

    Most are very dirty all over the tubes, pump and other parts. There is a reason large Ice machines are inspected by health officials. You can get sick not not cleaning and sanitizing the ice machines properly. These undercounter small residential ice machines get dirty the same way as the larger ones. Just doing this basic cleaning is only 25% of the job that’s needed. Your residential ice machine will never get inspected by health officials, but making sure it’s healthy for your family is your job.

    How come my ice maker always ends up with mold in the tubes and trays after a month or so? Is there something wrong? It will not stay clean at all even doing exactly what you say. I end up having to take off the top and pulling everything out from the top and cleaning the tubes and all.

    Don’t you have to rinse it after the chemical?
    As far as I know you do one cycle with the chemical and then another cycle with a clean water to rinse the evap coil from the chemical that left on the coil.
    Another option you can skip the rinse cycle but you will have to dumb first few ice drops after the cleaning process. But that haven’t been mention too.

    I have a KUIX305ESS1 under-counter ice maker which is not working at all. Even though there is power to the outlet and it is plugged in, the POWER light will not come on. It seems like there may be a very slight "hum" from the unit, but the interior light does not even come on when the door is open. Any ideas or help on this???

    what do you want to bet that the "approved" ice maker cleaner is actually a mixture of vinegar and water? You didn't mention the "approved" external wipe down cleaner for the fridge? Also, when choosing a wiping rag be sure to use the "approved" FBS kitchens cloth.

    • @rocky4976
      @rocky4976 4 года назад

      it is citric acid not acetic acid. Smell it no "vinegar" smell.

    • @southernguy35
      @southernguy35 4 года назад

      1. I've never bought that product. 2. I wouldn't waste money on something that I probably already have under the sink. 3. Citric acid is vitamin C.
      Now, I didn't want to mention this woman's crazy dishwasher video again but you reminded me. If you "prerinse" your dishes the dish washer soap has nothing to degrade with and will prematurely wear out your dishes. Does that mean that they just get thinner and thinner like brake pads?
      If an ice maker is regularly getting dirty, I have to wonder what the user is putting in it besides ice. Never mind, I really don't want to know. Unless it's been in a jungle and has mold growing in it, they don't get dirty. If it's hard water, it'd take years to have build ups needing removing and even then, it freezes and knocks them off.
      So, citric acid or vinegar, it would be a waste of money. The silly woman's dish washer comedy show is enough to tell the world she is no authority on anything. Really? Prewashing dishes causes them to wear out.
      If that dish washer detergent is so strong, I'm sure criminals would be using it to dispose of bodies. Get real.

    • @Jacksonabean

      R T “Citric acid is Vitamin C?” No...... grab an eighth grade chem text or spend some time on the net researching hard water mineral deposits. This video was very helpful and your comments aren’t.

    • @southernguy35
      @southernguy35 4 года назад

      @@Jacksonabean , you know why dish washers are hard on dishes? The cheaper soaps have sand in it.
      Now, if you don't scrap your dishes and you're on a septic tank system, you're going to be wondering why you're pumping your tank so much. Food particles get flushed down there and doesn't take long to fill it up.
