A few suggestions. Liliac- We are the Children, Dear Father, or Mystery. They are a 5-piece sibling band that are so talented and they are independent so you don't have to worry about blocked videos. I noticed your title said theatre kid so I would think you would enjoy their theatrics.
I'd love to hear your reaction to Nightwish's cover of The Phantom of the Opera (from the musical). They performed it live in 2006 with Tarja Turunen, the band's first singer way before Floor.
This is probably one of their more heavier songs. Most of this stuff is softer with Piano. I'm a massive metal head but this band has that special place.
I understand why this was pressed hard on you. The song intro does a great job of pulling you into this tension. By the time the song punches you in full, you are already on edge. I ditch labels frequently myself. I'm pretty sure the background of the band's concept is a reference to a meditative epiphany conceived from a psychedelic state.
I think you can use a neural net to classify all songs on a 2d map where songs that are more similar to each other are closer together and the genres would be where they cluster together. Space pants was a great SNL skit.

Imo, genres don't exist like any classification doesn't exist. I think they have a function, but shouldn't be taken as a rigid set of requirements. Most of my favorite groups fall into that "genres don't exist" category, so I see what you're getting at there.
More interesting music requires naming several genres to give an idea of what you're dealing with. They're like flavors, or paint. What color is the Mona Lisa? Does that mean colors don't exist?

Back in Viente-Viente, when I was scrappin to find N95's for my clinic, I picked up one of those Plague Doctor / Leather-Raven masks. Goes well with a felted wool, black, top hat and black scrubs...for that 'formal look', amiright? (sorry, they don't make strapless scrubs) Scares the CRAP outta my patients when I show up in it, too. I mean, they already know it's not quite normal at my clinic. ...The Devin Townsend orange octopus on top of the cupboards in the drillin-room kinda gives it away. so....lastly... if you want to be impressed/surprised you should check out what pro beatboxers are doing now! i would highly recommend you start off with anything from Gbb 2019 but I would also recommend to watch the actual battles and avoid the top 10 things only because you lose a lot of the interaction between the beatboxers

You’re doing yourself a great disservice if you don’t go down the Sleep Token rabbit hole… They are definitely not to be compared to the likes of Slipknot, Ghost, etc. just because they wear masks… This is some of the best singing, drumming, songwriting that’s out there… Alkaline’s just a tiny tip of the iceberg with these guys… As musically diverse a band as you’re going to find…
