    For easier and faster processing, put herbs in first. The salt is heavy and will help process the herbs better.

    If you process the herbs first before adding the salt, it would blend easier. Personally, I would process the herb and salt separately: sage salt, tarragon salt, rosemary salt, bay leaf salt, etc., and keep them in separate jars. Then you could mix the herbs based upon the dish you're preparing.

I made myself stay away this morning to get my chores done, but this evening , Here I am again. My husband watched last evening with me and we both agreed you are very relaxing to watch. Here's the man who would rather watch gun fighting movies and he chose to sit out on the porch last night with me and watch you. It does my heart good to see such a young people living the dream we/I wish I had always done. But fortunately it's never too late and I began the same journey about 10 years ago . Processed as you showed and now I have the most amazing sugar for tea or baking or whatever. Oh lemons were on sale so yup, mint infused lemonade. We do this with sugar because we drink so much tea and coffee. For example a Green tea base then we add a herb flavored sugar. Yum! My daughter makes a lemon tea then adds chamomile flavored sugar to taste. We do use raw sugar, so it has a tan color to it. GOD bless you all. Love from south Texas!

    Ooooo, this is a great idea! I do freeze my cilantro though. My husband is Puerto Rican and the basis for all of their cooking is sofrito. Very simply put it’s onion, garlic, a pepper, and cilantro and everyone makes it a little different. Anyways, I make big batches of it and freeze it in an ice cube tray and it works like a dream. Seriously, everyone needs to try sofrito, it’s amazing on practically everything. But yes, herb salt! I will have to give it a try.

    • @JanetKohl
      @JanetKohl 4 года назад +1

      Do you chop the sofrito ingredients and freeze raw? Does cilantro freeze well? I have to try this!

    • @jesskan9828

      Sounds amazing. Now I have to try TWO new recipes 😉

    • @emilyacevedo4746
      @emilyacevedo4746 4 года назад +4

      Typically I throw an onion, several cloves of garlic, a bell pepper, and an entire bunch of cilantro (stems and all) into a food processor and chop it up pretty fine because it goes nicely into the ice cube tray. And yeah, just freeze it like that. Sometimes I add olive oil, sometimes not. Yes, it does freeze very well. After they’re frozen I’ll pop out the cubes and store them in a bag or container. Other things that are common in sofrito are celery, green olives, tomato tomato paste. Great on a roast chicken or pork.. or beef, aaaand it makes great beans. Thaw a cube and put it in some yogurt for a veggie dip, I even put it in potato salad. Probably more than you wanted to know, but I hope it helps!

    I made loads of this amazing salt this summer, so tasty! And an easy way to preserve herbs. We just butchered our turkeys yesterday and I made a brine with this Tuscan salt and added it to the bag. Hopefully it makes our heritage turkey tender and tasty!

    I also live in zone 7B - But not in the desert- in Ga - where the weather is HOT & HUMID .... Sweet peppers / Hot peppers grow abundantly here- They can be picked fresh and thrown in zip lock bags and frozen ! I just run them under hot water & voila ! Just as if they were fresh ! Whole years worth
