I just need to let you know. I'm not vegan - I'm not even vegetarian, but I have been watching your videos for months. Recently I started to cook your recipes for my family at home to "spice up" the rather dull and not so diverse dinners we're used to. And we all LOVE IT. In August I'm getting my own place and I cannot wait to start a more plant based diet. You gave me the inspiration to want to do that. So thank you.
nanna kristine I am exactly the same, not vegetarian but making significant changes for a healthier more sustainable plant based diet and loving this channel.
nanna kristine I highly recommend it! I used to have so much pain in my body, but since going plant-base 99% of my physical pain is GONE! And, I am so much more excited about food now, about cooking, and am enjoying the wonderful variety and creativity of eating plant based. Best wishes!
Dreamy, can't wait to give it a try! For those who want it more "bolognese"-ish, can probably swap the zuchinni for lentils, using the idea from their Sloppy Joes meat (that I already used with pasta and it's awesome).
Thanks guys! I am vegan and live with my family in spain! They are meat eaters but i cook plant based at home and they love your recepies! After this lasagna we licked the plate, it was sooooo good! On top of helping the environment, the animals and the health of humans you guys are inspiring and so much fun to watch. You bring plant based food to another level. Will buy your book for sure. LOVE from Tenerife!
Hey guys, we made this lasagna tonight--and it was AMAZING! I'm vegan and my husband is vegetarian, and we both loved it! I put a tablespoon of white miso in the cashew cream and it really made it extra rich and deep. It's going to be my new go-to lasagna from now on. Good stuff!
Can't wait to try this! I love lasagne but have always considered it "too much trouble" to make. My one substitution will be to use zucchini (courgette) from our garden, thinly sliced the long way and then dehydrated, in place of the pasta. No pre-soaking, it should rehydrate fine from the other liquids. Once we discovered how easy it is to slice and dehydrate them, there is no such think as too much garden zucchini!
Yummmmmmm! Love that you're using normal pasta by the way, so many "healthy" or "vegan" recipes insist or gluten free or weird replacements for pasta. This just looks like a proper tasty meal that would fill you up too! :)
Im not vegan or vegetarian and I don't intend to become fully plant based but I have been significantly limiting the amount of meat and dairy I consume so i love your videos, especially considering ive never liked lasagne because of the cheesy sauce that it typically contains so this recipe is perfect for me!
Great idea boys, am definitely going to give this one a try. What type/make of saucepan are you using, I need to get one like that with the lid and can put in the oven too. Thanks for lovely recipe!!
The Happy Pear So are you!! I might switch the cashews with blanched almonds, because they're cheaper, tho! I did that with your mozzarella recepe and it works amazing 😎👌
Gemma Hart Of course! I haven't tried the lasagna, but the mozzarella I made with almonds turned out delicious, even my omnivore friends loved it, so I really suggest you try it, so your son can eat it with no problem 😄.
Of the thousands of vegan meal videos I've watched on RUclips, I can't believe it took me almost 2 years to come across one of yours! cute Irish boys x 2 cooking vegan food, that's the dream right there! haha Anyway, have watched one or a dozen of your videos since, loads of inspo, will continue watching many more, thanks dudes
I could see this being awesome topped with some fresh basil & the fresh vegan mozz you 2 make. (...which is my fave by the way!!!) also, i love using scissors ... they are so handy in the kitchen. I do recommend you invest in a pair of real kitchen shears. 💚
I'd probably put some tempeh in the sauce though. Just run it through a cheese grater and fry it off at the beginning, then leave it in the pan and do the rest of the sauce as shown. Or maybe fry it and reserve it to be mixed into the sauce at the end, if you want it to stay crispy and crunchy. I'm not one for "meat substitutes", but when you cook tempeh like that it can be a decent substitute for ground beef, or even bacon bits if you get it really crispy.
Gemma Williams What about a (apologies to French speakers and non-dyslexic spellers) beauchamel sauce using a plant based milk and margarine? One could add a tasty vegan cheese if one were able to procure such a rarity at a reasonable cost. I've objected to some ingredients (chili in lasagne? Chili and wine! Maple bloody syrup!? Try balsamic vinegar in a careful dose. Far too much sugar in the recipes of these two.) in this recipe, but the basics are exceptional. I do believe/assert that nutritional yeast is essential for a "as close as you can get ti cheese" flavour. But in the end, nutritional yeast tastes like nutritional yeast, not cheese. Nutritional yeast is among the greatest of culinary inventions. I expect popping in some chia seeds or linse seeds (whatever the English word is) would add a lovely extra bit of protein. Also, as one person commented, a layer of spinach would be the "epic" to which these gentlemen often are eluding. The more green, the more fun. After all, many Italian foods are meant to resemble the Italian flag, no? The recipe lacks, for me, the essential herbs: oregano and basil. I expect Italians would find this mad, yet the herbs will win the day! Well, this is a stupidly long post that likely will never be read, I've replied arrogantly and on impulse: may no offending occur. Just in case anyone does read this, will you give it a thumbs down. Yes, down. In that way no one has to commit one way or the other. Just curious to see if anyone reads this bloody far! Again, spelling, punctuation and other errors are my own. They are not intended for educational purposes, but rather as an opportunity to appreciate the creativity of the dyslexic brain. Adieu!
i dont have a twin so I highly recommend if your going to di it your self have EVERYTHING PRE-CUT!!!! I almost burnt my onions and garlic trying to cut up the mushrooms lol ^_^ The recipe came out great though. I added in some tofurky sausage and some chipotle pepper and it came out with almost a smoked sausage taste!! :)
I wonder if you didn't want to use so many cashews, if you could maybe use garbanzo beans and make like a hummus using the same other ingredients for the cheese?
Haha, I made it last night. Turned out really well actually. The hummus "cheese" tasted pretty good. I used the same spices you used with the cashews (nut yeats etc) and also blended in some oregano and basil into it etc. and added some lemon juice. My noodles stuck together sitting in the bowl with the hot water and some oil, but other than that, TOP NOTCH recipe Mates!!!
Fab Looking Recipe. I made that Cashew Sauce a few Times. It is So. Delicious Really. Yummy . Thank you for your Recipe. . . Greetings From. Galway. IRELAND. 🥰🥰☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️🥰🥰
How do you balance your savory meals (with oil, nuts, etc.) with keeping your overall eating habits "light". There are so many schools of thought, so to speak (80/10/10, raw, extreme low fat, and on and on)...it gets confusing sometimes. TIA
The last two times, I’ve clicked on the recipe link, including this lasagna, i get an error 404 on your website. Just an FYI. This recipe looks amazing and I particularly love all your five minute dinners!
No never any oil in pasta! The hot water will separate the Sheets if you put them in one of the time into the boiling water! All the oil does is make them slippery so the sauce won't stick.
Has anyone tried to freeze portions of this? It would be great to cook more vegan meals for myself but my family never eats the rest and I hate wasting food. What types of vegan foods does everyone freeze?
I would advise to leave out the olive oil for the noodles, because while it's great to cook the noodles in the sauce and not boil them first the oil will prevent the noodles from absorbing that great tomato sauce properly.
Yeah it kinda does, but it also makes your pasta super oily and so it cant absorb any sauce. Rinsing your boiled pasta with cold water also stops it from sticking together.

One pot lasagna?? Uhmm.. YES! I'm definitely making this for dinner tomorrow!
YES!!!!!! Let us know how you get on!! 😍😄👌
I have an alaphylactic allergy to mushrooms. Is there anything else you would suggest to use as a replacement in this? Loving your channel :)
You could try beans, lentils or tofu 😄🙌👍
Thanks very much! Love lentils so I'll try it with them :) cheers!
"So the Mable syrup is just gonna balance the acidity of the tomatoes sauce" ❤️❤️
😄🙌
How do you guys always put food fresh off the stove or oven right into your mouth without getting burned
Hahahahaha lots of practice! 😉😉😋
A one-pot lasagna is probably the only lasagna I'd ever make. Too much work otherwise. Thanks boys.
Sounds EPIC!!!! We'll have to try it out!!! 😄😋👌😍🤤
OMG this lasagna looks bomb! Can't wait to make it! Greetings from Italy 😊
Let us know how it goes Angie!!! Enjoy, big love to Italy from Ireland!!! 😄😍😋🙌
My husband has a nut allergy , is there anything else I can use for the topping ? Xx
We haven't made it with anything else but you could substitute the nuts for pumpkin or sesame seeds 😄👍

Hey where do you guys buy your nutritional yeast? I live in Ireland and have never seen it.
We have it in our shop, Benedicta, but you should find it in most health stores!! 😄🙌👌
The Happy Pear ooh where's your shop? But thank you. I'll look around a bit more
Best para of the whole video is at minute 3:26 Esteban's face like: "why are you eating the cashews David?" 😂😂😂😂
😂😂
Man that look good
Like a belly hug! 😄👍🙌
i dont have a twin so I highly recommend if your going to di it your self have EVERYTHING PRE-CUT!!!! I almost burnt my onions and garlic trying to cut up the mushrooms lol ^_^
The recipe came out great though. I added in some tofurky sausage and some chipotle pepper and it came out with almost a smoked sausage taste!! :)
Pre chopping is always a good idea 😂 Ah yumm sounds so good! 😄😋😍
I wonder if you didn't want to use so many cashews, if you could maybe use garbanzo beans and make like a hummus using the same other ingredients for the cheese?
Give it a go Neal and let us know what happens!!!😉😄🙌
Haha, I made it last night.
Turned out really well actually. The hummus "cheese" tasted pretty good. I used the same spices you used with the cashews (nut yeats etc) and also blended in some oregano and basil into it etc. and added some lemon juice.
My noodles stuck together sitting in the bowl with the hot water and some oil, but other than that, TOP NOTCH recipe Mates!!!
Oh using scissors for Lasagne is a really good idea. I only use it for Pizza usually. Never thought of using it for Lasagne.
Fab Looking Recipe. I made that Cashew Sauce a few Times. It is So. Delicious Really. Yummy . Thank you for your Recipe. . . Greetings From. Galway. IRELAND. 🥰🥰☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️🥰🥰
what was the green vegetable? I couldn't tell if it was cucumber or zucchini....would eggplant work just as well?
Ania Hayat courgette is the same as zucchini :)
Thank you
How do you balance your savory meals (with oil, nuts, etc.) with keeping your overall eating habits "light".
In before the Italians come here and say this is not how their mother used to make it so, therefore, it is not lasagne.
😉😉😉
This video is brought to you by Scissors, scissors, a great tool to chop, cut, split anything and everything in the world.
Hahahhahaha 😂😂
No never any oil in pasta! The hot water will separate the Sheets if you put them in one of the time into the boiling water! All the oil does is make them slippery so the sauce won't stick.
that high heat is like straight up from Tatarus xD i think on my stove the high heat looks like the low one on your stove
Hahhahahahha it's pretty wild, we have to agree 😂😂
Wow! A bacon advert before a vegan recipe! Making this after the video is done-- not the bacon.
Hahahah glad to hear it Larry! 😄😛😂
Has anyone tried to freeze portions of this? It would be great to cook more vegan meals for myself but my family never eats the rest and I hate wasting food. What types of vegan foods does everyone freeze?
wow delicious will try this thx #HappyPear
Your cashew cream looks just like hummus lol. Might have to give this one a try.
ur flame looks like the witch from snow white about to make a poisonous apple, scary! lol
Hahahahhahaha 😂😂
I would advise to leave out the olive oil for the noodles, because while it's great to cook the noodles in the sauce and not boil them first the oil will prevent the noodles from absorbing that great tomato sauce properly.
Can you please do what I eat in a day ?!!!
We'll put it on the list Jennifer!! 😄🙌👌
Oh noo poor steve 😂 5:42
Feeds 6 people or a very hungry and high college student
Hahahahahaha love it Camila!!! 😂😉🙌
5:27 "LOW HEAT"?!
If there was basil on the cashew cheese. That would be nice.
Are you bringing out happy pear scissiors ? 😂😂
hahahahaha that's the next step!! 😉😋😄
5:42 hahahaahahahaha I laughed out loud, bless you :'D
😂😂😂
I put maple syrup in my tomato sauce too, it just makes everything better. I want lasagne now .
Hahaha it really does!!! 😄😋🙌
Put a monstera on top of the fridge and you’ve got the biggest carrot ever!
Damn. erlenmeyers. Me want some.
Make it then!! 😂😂
Sure am. And im getting me some erlenmeyers. Cooks are the og chemists.
Love the recipe but you're actually losing heat by allowing the flames to come up the pot like this.
They're so unified. 😳
Feeds 6 ?
I could easily eat that whole pot.😃
I'm sorry but Nutritional Yeast IS ESSENTIAL my friends hahaha
😂😂
Calling a conical flask 'test tube thing' xD,
jk great vid
hahahaha 😂😂
Great recipe, but why do you always put oil in the water for your pasta? There is no point...
4rachel5 It will stop the pasta from sticking together
Yeah it kinda does, but it also makes your pasta super oily and so it cant absorb any sauce. Rinsing your boiled pasta with cold water also stops it from sticking together.

Hahaha that's Dave but close!! 😉😉 twas a bit chilly in Ireland 😂😂
The Happy Pear Ah yes I forgot that you're over in Ireland; America is just scorching at the moment.
Also nothing personal Dave :'D lesson learned.
Great recipe. However, seeing the kitchen towel left on the stove burner makes me cringe. That's a fire in the making. Eek! Be careful in the kitchen guys.
