Great live performance of this song. I had the honor of seeing Gordon and the guys perform this live about ten years ago. We were about ten rows back. Throughout the evening I was struck by how they played with such restraint, never trying to "muck things up" too much or show off. The strength and integrity of the songs carried them just fine. I know we're sad that Gordon is gone now, but we can be happy that he was here for as long as he was! What a gift!
He definitely is a painter. His brush is his songwriting pen. His palette is his guitar. His canvas is the hearts and souls of all who listen. He is a master painter of musical pictures and his songs are all masterpieces! Thank you Gordon Lightfoot and thank God for Gordon Lightfoot.
I was on an Amtrak, heading back home, and met a Miner that worked in Mexico, and another Worker on his way to Reno, I was only a future Painter Passing Through, at that point in my life..
I got a chance to see him once in Bellingham Washington, and I could not wait for that night to come, my wife and I got there right when he was walking on stage, I was thrilled cause of all my hero like neil young ect......... Gorden was the only one I never saw him perform.....So the concert started and the lights were hitting the very thick glossy shinny finish on the bass guitar so bright that I could not even see gorden lightfoot, it drove my wife and I crazy, so we tried to find better seats but it was a full house, so the music was grat, but I did not know what gorden looked like, so now all these years later thanks to youtube I can now watch him perform and play his guitar lol.
Thank you for your gift of music to hat you shared with us he world Thanks for Summertime Dream Album as i learned how to plat 6 string and 12 string guitar at the age of 12 when that was released.
There are many of us my friend and in this world what he gives us is so important...Refuge and more. Meanwhile we have to listen to people who can't touch Lightfoot lauded out of all proportion.
Yeah, it's like a tuba or a flugelhorn...watch the bbc live from the early seventies it is really great....Rick and also Red Shea...Lightfoot at his best just before adding drums and a bigger band. Flawless concert with really good sound.
Hi MusicbyBenjamin, you must be an old soul! I'm glad you responded, otherwise I wouldn't have found you. Nice to meet you! I subbed! Nice to meet You, Nemasta
Thank you Mr Lightfoot for your music, love and peace 💔

I just heard he passed and this was the first song I decided to look for. Thank you for painting our world with your words and music.
🥰 Bless you
… miss you already
One upon a time he was one of the few who reach the heights, and now has the dignity to talk about it in a straightforward way.. Always Gord's way.
This is the type of song that shows how exceptional Gordon Lightfoot's writing is.
Rest in Peace ✨
He wrote this song for my dad after he met him on a flight and they had a great talk about life :)
Wow your dad is very lucky

a wonderful song by the incredible gordon lightfoot. such a prolific storyteller, deep and tugs at the heart strings
I believe this song is autobiographical for him. Love it.

I think this could be the best bass Rick Haynes ever played on any Lightfoot recording/concert he was part of.
Amazing song,by an amazing man.
Beautiful! I love his Voice, Aura. Would Love to see him Live
God he could write. I'm not of this world; I'm just passing through on my way home!
Known Gord since 1967. Worked with his brother Lorne.
Never a finer writer/Canadian composer. Equal of Dylan and Tyson.
Love Gordon as well, a great writer but Stan Rogers wasn't to shabby either.
he doesn't have a brother. he has n older sister Beverley.
Ian or Herb???
nope-no brothers..
Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues .
Great tune
