Corvette C6 Z06 Hood Vent Install - Trackspec Motorsports Hood Vents

- Since now I am running a 50w oil to improve on track lubrication and help keep my oil pressures a bit higher I want to help keep the Oil temps lower. I chose to vent my hood with the Trackspec Motorsports hood vents. Not only do they look bad ass, but they also help extract the hot air trapped under your hood keeping your overall temps down. I made a mistake on the install where I cut out the center section of my center hood vent. Im not too worried about it, but of course it's not designed to cut out. Link for the hood louvers below.

Looks great man! Looking forward to the track video!
Thanks man! Coming soon. Can't wait!
Got the Z looking good bud. The venting was a great idea and really adds to the looks for that "Racecar" appeal. Are you going to add any extra oil coolers to the system or see where it sits currently after a track day and go from there? Really appreciate all the updates, helps us little guys figure out what we'd like to do to ours.
Thanks! Going to go back out as is. Want to check a few things. Want to see what my new oil temps are with the higher viscosity and the hood vents. Also want to see what coolant temps look like with the new larger radiator. More than likely as I get faster and more comfortable I’ll do some oil cooler upgrades but right now won’t be necessary.
Great video brotha!
Thanks brother! Next video will finally be a track video again.
Add a dei oil cooler line wrap and a 160 thermostat. Your oil temps will have a hard time rising.
Thanks for the advice! Definitely going to work on this.
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩 ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for your support brother!
Welcome, brother.
Does the C6 have a factory oil cooler? Or are there any aftermarket versions available?
So some c6s like the z06 come with a factory external oil cooler so you can buy a upgraded model of that or go with the improved racing ones that mount two coolers where your dog lights go
And no remote oil cooler?
Not yet. Want to see how the temps look with the vents first this way I’m upgrading as necessary.
did you notice any downforce improvements?
Not anything noticeable on downforce. Definitely will say its helped with cooling a bit.
do not run 50w oil in this car ! .. LS7 tollerences are tight .. use XPR 5w 30 RP its the best
When the oil temps get above 200 degrees a 30w is way too thin and can risk lack of lubrication. I used to run 40w and went up to 50w to test. This car is primarily a track car doesn't see too much of anything else and GM calls for heavier weighted oil on track so doing it to help extend the motors life with more lubrication.
@@SloJoeRacing my oil Temps never get above 190 5w30
I’m gonna smoke this shit box at the motor enclave
I hope for your sake that you do. If I spent $50k in mods to still lose to a 18 year old car. Id be sad lol
@@SloJoeRacing brother in no way should a GR86 beat a Z06…EVER! lol. Love ya, but ask any ZO6 owner 😉
@@phelpsgarage4202 The car may be capable.....but is the driver? Remember, it's a 2 part equation there. Not everyone is as fearless as Dale Sr ya know.... 😅
@@TheWolfMatt I couldn’t agree more. The same driver driving both cars, I should average about 10+ seconds slower than the ZO6 on most tracks.
Absolutely. The car is capable and I’m not quite yet. I know Phelps garage personally so he loves to tease me especially as we get closer to a track day lol. He has over 200 laps of experience on track and formal training where I’m nearing just about 10 laps of total lap time. lol the experience gap is insane but he loves to make it about the cars. I’m the ONLY z06 he’s run faster than.
