EP.7 - Installing DSX Tuning Flex Fuel Sensor on Corvette C6 Z06
This episode we get closer to the motor install with more prep. Knowing that I am increasing my compression from the LS7 stock compression of 11:1 to about a 12:1 I have to put the right support in place to keep the Bald Eagles happy. This is where @dsxtuning3098 Steps in with their PLug and Play flex fuel kit for my C6 Z06!

Good idea. Next time I need to do this job, I’ll just pull the motor for access! Thanks!!
🤣🤣🤣
That Craig seems like a pretty smart guy 11:14
😂😂
I ended up getting the Corbeau seat and adjustable bracket which makes egress much easier, but downside is that I sit higher than I'd like. I also bought the Vetteworks module to turn off the airbag light. I'd encourage you to consider a harness and harness bar, the stock belts blow big chunks especially on track, but they are nice to keep in the car for daily driving. A 4 point harness on track is awesome and drastically increases your confidence and ability to focus on breaking instead of worrying about flying around in the car.
Yeah! I definitely will be getting a harness bar and harness making the standard 3 point just when im doing a cruise on the streets. the AMT bracket helps me sit very low . It will actually be an adjustment for me. Hate that I cant test driving with them until the motor gets back lol.
@ I know, I’m loving watching the progress you’re going through, it’s a long arduous journey but you’re learning a ton in the process. I’m also super jealous that you can track your car 12 months out of the year, up here in Kansas City, we get about 6 months and half of those are crazy hot!🥵
Thanks man! Definitely a bit overwhelming, but im excited to get back to it soon. Hoping to take advantage of the slim time I have left of NOT so hot weather here in Florida lol
@@SloJoeRacing I’m sure you’re sick of spending all the money, but I can’t say enough good things about the AP Racing Radical brake setup. I feel much more confident they won’t over heat and I get a much firmed pedal feel. At $5k they are expensive but it takes a bit of the danger factor out of this hobby. I just did the front set as they do about 70% of the braking work, but I plan to do the rears this year.
I’m having some smoke come out once I let off after going wot… so I’m thinking the car needs some new valve seals or something hopefully it’s not too bad… I have a Mighty Mouse catch can already and I’m not smoking right away and only smoking after letting off at high rpms
Yeah sounds like you might have some valve stem seal issues going on. Might also want to revisit your tune as well make sure your richness levels aren’t too high.
Good timing - I'll be adding these when I swap the C7 dry sump tank into my LS3/Kong 2650 LS9 setup.
Absolutely! A must add and relatively simple job for my reliability.
@@SloJoeRacing For sure! I swapped in the Zr1 Carbon Ceramics on my car - and once they are hot - and you slam on the brakes. I've been noticing the oil pressure dropping. So I'm gathering up all of the dry sump parts and going to swap them in. I already have the Improved Racing baffle and crank scraper - and yeah oil pressure still drops.
looking good man! almost ready for that new engine!
Excited brother! Hoping to get some Updates on the motor today
the oil lines collecting dirty oil isn't surprising considering the chevy diesel trucks keep almost an entire quart in the oil pan... Just Chevy things I guess. ruclips.net/video/CVnssANHmU4/видео.html

It looks like your filler tube didnt have a rubber o-ring on the flange? Or was it just not in the shot? Mine had a rubber seal on the flange side of the tube, maybe something worth checking. Awesome video again!
@@louiC6Z no, now that you mention it didn’t see one. Great call out! I have to drop the tank again to run e85 flex fuel sensor going to take a peak inside again.
Joe is the cam you took out AHP 1.5 116 Cali cam? If so I like to buy it,because the TSP V 3.2 most likely won't pass smog here in California. I Daily the car. Let me know I'm on corvette forum username Tigerchevelle Thanks buddy, and keep up the content on the mighty Z06!

Getting rid of the terrible OEM seats in the C6 is a great mod. I recommend the Recaro Speed-V espcially if you're looking for something that's more street focused with recline adjustability. I have them and I love them. They fit the C6 very well. OEM+.
Yeah! Don’t get me wrong with the stock c6 seats are comfortable just not ideal for my use which is primarily track focused driving.
whats she weighing in at now ?
I’ve got to get the seats weighed with the brackets. I know the seats alone are 12lbs my factory driver seat was according to Google about 52lbs lol
@@SloJoeRacing you have to factor in the mounts as well as the factory seats are all one piece d/p .. Driver is 52lbs passenger is like 38lbs .. my total setup with recaros netted - 30lbs
@ @ yeah I’m going to pull the seat in a few weeks once the motor is running for final adjustment and weigh them to get the totals.
Hell yeah!
👊🏻🏁

@@michaelsio1000 yeah no definitely not reusing mine. Going with the Johnson Tbar lifters. Did you go with those?
When you mention all models does this radiator also support manual transmission
Yes my c6 is a z06 so it’s manual transmission
@ thank you, I was installing mine and I saw the other drain holes and was like wait WTF 😹 but I figured out they don’t do anything PHEW thank you for clarifying tho !!
@ haha same! I was wondering if they didn’t send me plugs lol
Always killing it with the cinematic intro W
Thank you!
So drain plugs first and then the dry sump lines?
I think you can do either or first. I went with dry sump lines second to see just how much oil would sit in the lines once the pan was empty. Was surprised that it had that much left in the lines.

lol, I cut out everyone’s reactions but we all lost it when that happened. Getting closer to a healthy motor!
Love seeing Joe gettin' after it!
Thanks man!
Great vid bud. Always a pain pulling a motor regardless of vehicle. But you have it out now and you have a world of other things you can do "while you're in there", don't go overboard with it though as your platform is already pretty strong. Just fine tune some things, figure out what would be best to keep the LS7 cool, well lubricated, and fed the appropriate amount of air/fuel. Best of luck bud, looking forward to the next one.
Yeah! totally agree with you. I think the "While im there" can lead down a serious rabbit hole. I was already very happy with the platform while it was arguably running hurt most of the time. im going to improve a few areas mainly to protect the little components that dont get any attention typically.
@@SloJoeRacing I'd honestly call the guys over at Katech to see what they'd do in this case. You'd be surprised to see what they have to say about these C6 Z06 Vettes, they used to run these pretty hard in ALMS racing along with all the things they did for the street cars they built. A ton of the old C5.R LS7 parts would work very well for your build. What could it hurt to ask right?
Yeah absolutely. ive had a few convos with them in the past and I recently purchased their high flow oil pump and c5r timing chain.
@@SloJoeRacing Here's a question for ya. Are you going to upgrade the valvetrain on the heads at all? If so, I'd go with all titanium valves just to lighten things up for the LS7 to really rev out past 7k safely. Otherwise, some nice stainless valves work well at getting you to the 7k limit but not much further.
@@TheWolfMatt I will definitely be upgrading my rockers given some mishaps we've experienced with the in the past. The valves are going to be inspected and we will see what route we take. Im basically taking my motor in its entirety without removing anything so they can asses every component and tell me what we need to make a happy motor for my use.
im not seeing enough harbor freight tools
@@z06bir 😂😂 @koalaz06 brought all of his Milwaukee stuff to make us feel bad about our life decisions lol
And snapon and Cornwell. The car might be junkyard but the tools didn’t have to be.

Great vid, can’t wait to see how Vader comes along.
Thanks! You and me both! Looking forward to a happy healthy motor.
I like the part where they all look at each other on who’s going under the car 😂
😂😂😂 it was definitely sketchy!
18-22 on grandma mode that sounds fireee I got a tune on mine definitely helps save you guys trucks turn off that 4v mode
yeah, its crazy that disabling v4 mode doesnt really hurt your MPG like you'd assume. My truck was getting really great MPG when I createdthis video a few years back and even in todays age with 120k miles, taller lift and larger wheel and tires. I still can average about 15MPG in out of the city and about 18 on the highway driving patiently.

Can't Wait to be out on track!!!
1st Comment. Always loved your Z, she's one mean beast of a car. But she's not without her faults as with everything she does for ya around town and on the track. Gotta make things right in order to push hard on the track. Maybe look into some LG Motorsports adjustable coil over shocks perhaps??? Sad to see the old girl down and out but can't wait till she makes the return from the dark side.
Thanks for the support! Yeah im excited to get past the constant motor worries and have it healthy so I can focus on learning how to drive. Im running the LG GT2 coilovers now. Do you recommend different ones?
@@SloJoeRacing You running their sway bars and end links as well? They have several different kits. Sorry, been out of the loop on your channel a while. The GT2 kit is pretty nice tho.
@@TheWolfMatt Yeah im running their sway bars as well. I think once the car is down im going to review all of that. Ive never done a proper alignment also. Before my next track day the car will be running lol aligned and with a faster tire for sure
@SloJoeRacing Also consider talking with LG Motorsports about their track alignment as that'll help out a ton on track. I just don't suggest it around town as it'll make your car rather darty around any bumps.
@@TheWolfMatt yeah the car doesn’t see much normal road time. It has a bit more this year since the oil consumption I decided to not race it so just to move it I’ve driven it more than I planned to if the motor was good
