    On the seats, I went with a Corbeau Forza and their bracket. Its sits very high, like 2 inches higher than stock at least, which I don't like at all. I want to be at the stock ride height, for helmet fitment and lower center of gravity. So I had to have my Corbeau bracket modified in the rear to get it little lower, which still is higher than stock. I'm going to try to fit the Corbeau seat to an OEM bracket later this year for the reasons I stated above, but there are also a few others. You lose the auto entrance and egress function, which is handy with high bolsters and you lose power adjustment tilting functions which makes dialing in the seat position much easier. If you decide to stick with the Corbeau bracket option, you'll need an add on module to retain the telescoping function of the steering wheel. Driving on track with the wheel all the way against the gauge cluster sucks, ask me how I know! So just add that into your budget. If I recall, it was about $800 for the seat, bracket and telescoping module. Also be sure to do a 5 point harness if you haven't already. The stock seat with a 5 point harness might be a good way to go also, believe it or not. And if you run a 5 point, you need to add a HANS device to your helmet setup, or you'll internally decapitate yourself if you hit a wall head on. Happy racing!

      @SloJoeRacing  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah, I definitely need to lower the height of the seat. With a helmet on I would say my stock seat setup has me a bit closer to the roof than id like. Going to be looking into bracketing soon and how to make it the most convenient, because I know once I go fixed location it can be a pain getting in and out. Fortunately the car doesn't see much time outside of track use and some spirited drives, but still want it to be comfortable and convenient. Thanks for all the feedback it really helps!

    Great video for the interior of the C6. I totally get as to why you did the dash, steering wheel, and the adjustment to the radio. Those would likely bug the daylights out of me as well. Great choice in wheel too btw, I was thinking of getting something similar when I get a C6Z (still looking) along with a better set of seats. You look to be a bit of a larger framed person, like myself, and going with the Sparco racing seats is a great option, but will be a very (I mean very) tight fit. Maybe look at the Status: seats as they feel much like the Sparco seats, just a touch bigger and even a little better on the price as well.
    Love the build of your Z bud, really enjoying your content.

      @@SloJoeRacing I recommend you do for sure. Then look at the price and ask yourself "is one seat worth 1k over getting 2 for $899?" I have a couple of the Status: seats in my 78 Firebird Formula resto mod for that exact reason.
      Looking forward to your next vid bud. Keep it safe out there.

    I'm confused. So the must replacement for my C6 Z06 is a factory grand sport dash? I was skipping sections because you were going off on tangents so maybe I missed something, but sounds like that's the mod in question

    • @SloJoeRacing
      @SloJoeRacing  8 месяцев назад

      The must replacement would be the steering you see me install. The dash is more for my subscribers that have seen me mention how much I hated my damaged 3lt leather dashboard.

    the stock steering wheel is totally functional - so why is it trash?

    • @SloJoeRacing
      @SloJoeRacing  Год назад

      The stock steering wheel is a bit thin for track racing and the older leather material is now very smooth with less grip. Changing to the alcantara not only do I have more grip but it’s a thicker steering wheel with contours specific for your fingers so for track use it’s a better experience.

    I can see what your problem is right away: "Chevy?" Please. "Chevrolet" or "GM." You need a Camaro. "3LZ?" You mean "3LT?" My C6 has the 3LT package. Is your video music an original you composed? My leather steering wheel is fine. Basically: wash your hands before you drive. You should be scared of the air bag. Those things are just waiting to maim somebody. They LOVE carnage. It balances out their goody-two-shoe function of supposedly saving someone's face during a crash. Yeah, if the air bag doesn't decapitate you first.

      @@SloJoeRacing You have to pay money for that! Well, I hope you're making money off your videos, then. By pure coincidence, I just cleaned the leather-wrapped OEM steering wheel on my C6 with leather cleaner/conditioner today. It wasn't *perfectly* immaculate, but it definitely wasn't dirty. The human body creates it's own debris field to deposit on surfaces, even with clean hands. I hadn't cleaned my steering wheel in probably 9 months and it was nearly completely soil free. I'm not sure airbags are good for anybody but the airbag manufacturing companies, like Takata, who just had to have the airbags in my Nissan replaced because of those airbags' tendency to kill & maim rather than save. This underscores my contention that airbags are the real killers. Cheers & thanks for the response.

    • @SloJoeRacing
      @SloJoeRacing  11 месяцев назад

      @@salvadormonella8953 Yeah its not ideal to pay for the audio service, but I enjoy creating the content and trying my best to make it as cinematic or entertaining as possible. I totally agree our hands release oils which coat our steering wheels and if not properly maintained can breakdown the steering wheel. For me I was looking for a wider grip steering wheel and Alcantara which naturally provides more grip especially for my racing gloves.

    • @salvadormonella8953
      @salvadormonella8953 11 месяцев назад

      @@SloJoeRacing Well, the difference between a video nobody cares about and one that many do is frequently in that "cinematic" "entertaining" stuff. Some people love to do that stuff. I don't. You wear gloves when you race? Well, why didn't you say so? I'm a glove guy. A big gloves proponent. I have many gloves and I use the. I have all sorts of specialty gloves. I learned the hard way of the need to wear gloves when doing most tasks. I don't race in sanctioned events, but I have been to high-speed driving school. We were required to wear a helmet, driving shoes, but gloves were not required, and nobody there wore them, not even the instructors. I have many helmets, and two pairs of driving shoes, but no driving gloves. What in the heck am I doing? Failing, it sounds like. I've always had enough grip on the wheel, or so I thought. I haven't had a problem yet. Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing. I'm going to go out and get some gloves and see what happens. I'll probably end up wanting a faster car, and then that quest will NEVER end. Thank you for the thoughtful and helpful responses. Cheers.
