The more you do this, the more comfortable youll get. 5 track days from now and you'll feel much better. I personally prefer to be out there by myself to try to put down my best time. I'd encourage you to seek out open track space and focus on the car temps, shift points, braking zones and your line. Those things alone will take all your mental capacity for a while. Once you get comfortable with that, then start cutting up with your buddies.

I agree, I felt much better when the track would clear out a bit. Looking forward to more track days!

For a second I thought you were on the full course then I saw the cones and chicane. No turn 4 banked top speed run. I’ve done Homestead-Miami a dozen times now. Broke a control arm my last time, they were cheap so never skimp when it comes to suspension parts. I see you have no turn in grip, kept washing up with oversteer then throttle out was difficult. When you can drive it in onto the curbs, your car is gonna be great.

Great video and great humility! It’s not easy to call out your faults. Keep tracking and your skills will come. Remember to clip those curbs, really straighten out those corners…proper entrance, apex and exit will smooth out your driving. Like another commenter said smooth is fast! Again great video and commentary! 👍👍👍

Thanks! Hoping to keep learning and growing with the car as a driver. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for sharing as having lived in Miami before and running on that track.
One of the best things you can do which will help relax your driving is to get a Shark bar or the Brey Krause, get you a good 6 point harness and a Hans for your helmet.
You will be in your stock seat which is still good but you will not be having to hold yourself on turns or other. Your comfort level and your driving will improve as you will be less worried about shifting around in your seat due to cornering or other brake forces.
I run a 2011 GrandSport since I moved to Georgia at Road Atlanta and other tracks.
Learn your limits with the car, running in the Novice instead of intermediate will allow you to concentrate more as another said above on your driving line, brake points and apexes.
Then work up to hitting those consistently then add a little more speed.
Crossed drill rotors are not the way to go. Go with something like Centrex solids or slotted but not cross drilled. Good to see your using Motul 660 like I do. I run Conti Extreme Contact Sports 275/35/18 Front and 325/30/19 and love them rain or shine, the wear is also great 9 track days and still going strong (only use on track) My F55 Suspension was tuned by Jim Mero.
One last thing forget about lap times for now work on the above and you will do great.
Since Homestead will be your home track run there as much as you can, take notes you will see your improvements come to you.

The key values to take away from any track session is that the driver makes the car, the car does not make the driver. "Slow is smooth but smooth is fast" is my moto whenever I try a new track and it always has proven itself true time and time again. Great car but, love the C6 Z's as they have enormous power to weight potential on track, just need to learn where it's limits are and getting comfortable with hanging those on the edge.
Nice video bud, looking forward to seeing more like this along with watching you get faster. Welcome to the buzz.

Thanks! Definitely look forward to tracking a lot more and learning my limits as a driver, but also the cars. More content definitely to come!

    Hi joe
    I live in Miami
I wanna go to homestead for track
But don’t know what I need
    I have a 07 corvette
Also how much does it cost and what days are you able to go on the track
I’d really appreciate if you can give me some information on the homestead track

Hey! I would say for your Corvette at bare minimum ensure that your vehicle has fresh oil, ensure coolant is topped off and ensure that your brake fluid is upgraded to withstand more heat. you can find great options for brake fluid with Motul. Also ensure you have good brakes. basically safety is the number one area of focus for any driver. From there to get to homestead speedway you have to find an event host that is hosting. A very popular one would be Performance Driving Group, but you can also look into SCCA events and others. They host events on specific days where you can enroll. The cost to race can range around $350 to $500 for the day depending on the event.
