C6 Z06 is one of a kind. You can’t get normally aspirated, big cubic inch and manual anymore. The power to weight ratio on these cars is awesome. They are geared so well! They beat cars that usually make so much more power than they do. Awesome handling
I agree with all but the "They are geared so well!" They put the ultra wide ratios with double overdrive in to escape gas guzzler tax. The narrow ratio gearset they put in the ZR1 would be enormously better. When you start camming them up, the giant gap between 4th and 5th is a major problem.
Wow! I’ve always loved the C6 Z06’s, but I especially want the 2013 Special Anniversary or Commemorative ‘Vert model just called the 427 Convertible. White with silver-gray stripe, dark blue top with a blue subdued stripe, even on the waterfall inside. Diamond Blue leather interior. I would keep that one stock and get a separate Z06 hardtop to do all the engine mods on. And it’s still considered a “small block” Chevy engine! Can you believe it? Just the raw power, sound, sweet exhaust, raging cam doing its chop... pure awesomeness!
I have been one of those people a few times and I drag raced a high 10 second 99 GT for years. I want a C6 Z06 very badly. I would buy one just for the sound alone.
Never been in one, but Im really a true import guy. Had a 95 Supra TT, many Civics. Etc. The only American car I'd get is a C6-Zo6. To me, it's the last real Corvette. I'd say the C6 ZR1 too, but that's like on another unfeasible level for me financially. Awesome car.
Wow, what a monster. Just love everything about that Z06. The sound, music to my ears. You lucky guy to have a friend that trusts you with his baby. Steve
The 2/3 shift in the c6z06 is incredible when you're foot is in it......I think your mistaken about the prices though.....a decent one (under 70k miles) go around 35 grand.....low mileage examples can be in the low 40s.......best corvette ever in my opinion....great video Chris 👌

These cars are so easy to mod but make sure you pick a shop that has a lot of experience with LS engines unless, of course, you're a great mechanic yourself. I use my 2010 Z06 as my daily driver. It is very drivable around town running errands and such despite putting down 691whp. Considering how light they are (mine weighed in at 3,143lbs - without me) you can really surprise the crap out of unsuspecting Hellcats, Ferraris, etc., etc.. I few weeks back I smoked a guy driving a 2020 Mustang GT500. Beautiful car... though I never saw the rear. ;-)
Beautiful car, excellent vid, epic ramp pulls, your reaction... PRICELESS! Just forward the info to your friend Matt that a fresh set of plugs should take care of that awful choppy idle. 😛🤣
I love the ZR1's don't get me wrong but I'm a Z06 guy on my 3rd one had a 2004 C5 a 2007 C6 and currently a 2013 C6 which is my favorite and it's actually a rare care beings they barely made any in 2013 the final year and it's even rarer because it's equipped with the Z07 performance package I've been told under 100 we're ever made .
I've seen insane deals on the C6 Z06 before but they're all gone now due to Covid used vehicle market sell off. Saw an 80k mile black one with Spyder wheels for $23k in AZ about a year ago. And a FULL BUILT Lingenfelter cammed black one for sale here in LA at a dealership for $30k with under 60k miles. Yes that is correct, a factory tuned Lingenfelter with around 550rwhp+ for under $30 g's.
Agreed, but at roughly 2x the cost, the C6Z is by far the better bang for the $ IMO. And at that price point, I went with the Viper (and the C6Z for a DD).
Wonder what a better cold air intake and maybe a MSD intake manifold would do for that wicked Lemans Blue beast? Love the channel. Matt should race the 650whp C5Z you featured. Don't want to butcher the guys name.
I am tempted to copy his exhaust setup on my Z not for more power but for the sound alone. My oem exhaust sounds nothing like that. The cam and exhaust sound wonderful.
I removed the mufflers completely on mine and it sounds amazing (maybe a little more bark than this). With that said, I'd like to find another set of factory mufflers to throw on it as I want to install headers and remove the cats.
As good as the exhaust sound is, what really stands out to me is its induction bark at every gear change. And this isn't from a 8000rpm NA with ITBs, this is a 7 litre OHV which makes it all the more intoxicating.
Never heard the term Blow a Valve... Think you mean drop a valve due to an non-concentric valve guide that causes an increased wear rate to the point they have so much side to side play, the keepers kick and the valve drops into the combustion chamber. More times than not it will be an exhaust valve. My heads were done by TSP, and only the exhaust valves were replaced as I wanted to keep my titanium intake valves. Twin stacked springs also allowed me to up my rev limit to 7500rpm.
@@ryanbrown918 I hear of few people using TSP heads and glad to hear you've been happy with yours.
