I'm an older fellow and have owned metric or European bikes, and my wife being a Harley lady, asked me to trade my M109R in on a Harley. Well, I purchased a 2011 Road King in 2018, and to tell you the truth I wasn't crazy about it when I purchased it, but my wife was happy. A couple day's after I purchased the Road King I took it on a 500-mile ride through the desert and then the mountains. When I got home, I expressed to her; now I understand why people love Harley Davidson so much. The rumbling feel of the motor when you are at idle or accelerating, the sound of the Twin Cam was just music to my ears, and the handling in the mountains was fantastic. A couple days ago, I purchased my 5th Harley; a 2023 Harley Breakout, and I cannot ever see myself going back to metric or European motorcycle again. Great video; I really enjoyed watching and listing to your and Whitney's commentary.
This is probably the best example of someone with zero Harley exposure, and all the typical Harley preconceptions - instantly understanding why so many people like Harleys, after one ride. People just don’t know what they don’t know - until they do.
I know Harleys are nice, they are great bikes. But the only part I can't wrap my head around is paying close to 75% more for 10% better... I'm a cheap ass though. I feel like the cost and price would take away from my riding experience, just like it did Whitney at the end when Spite told her it was a 22+ grand bike. Makes me think... is it really THAT much better, or is good enough okay...
Lets be real here, other Harleys don't brake, accelerate or turn like this model. This was made as a direct update to compete with Indian who is besting them in every form of racing. This is one of their first real attempts to be back in the performance realm again. With the aluminum chassis, fox shocks, inverted forks and brembos adorning the Indians, they have to do this. I love it though! But some cheap 883 or standard softail isn't close to this experience unfortunately, having much worse brakes, suspension and no honking 117ci sitting in it lol.
@@michaelconner9796 you can always get a cheapo second hand 1200 and enjoy the too much power for such shitty brakes experience! Jokes aside, I do agree with you, wouldn't buy a new one. I always say that Royal Enfield is getting right all the things that HD can't seemengly wrap their head around.

I must say, I also never thought I'd have a Harley until I discovered the low rider s. Took a used 2020 that had a stage 4 117 and tons of aftermarket goodies on a test ride and was instantly in love. It was in my garage within a week and I find myself riding it more than my other bike now. Goes to show you never know what you like until you put a few miles on it.
at about 12 minutes in i realized how nice it was not hearing yammie start comparing it to a super bike and to just have whitney speak freely . i got a sportster cause my legs were nervous of the bigger bikes but i think i wanna try a lowrider now
I would love to see some Common Tread Experience-esque Spite and Whitney content! They're such a fun duo. (obviously the CTXP production budget is bonkers, but something in that style perhaps)
Whitney’s input was great. She verbally confirmed apprehensions about a big bike. But showed it’s manageable and you know with time all the awkwardness will slowly be overcome.
Whitney's always a bright ray of sunshine in your videos. I think her R18 might be in danger of being swapped out for a Harley. My first ride on a cruiser was last year & I had trouble figuring out where my legs went too. I borrowed a mate's bike while I prepped mine that had been in storage for 5 years. After a month of riding the cruiser I felt cramped when I switched over to my bike, like I was using rear sets, and I have a fairly standard upright seating position. I never used to get it, but now I really see the appeal of riding a cruiser.
I love to hear the reaction of non Harley riders when you tell them the price. The words "crazy" and "ridiculous" is usually their description!.....and I agree!
I sold my 08 Yamaha Raider and picked up my '19 MT07. The MT is great to commute to work on and to play with on the weekends.... But....I miss my giant screaming dragon of a cruiser. It was SO comfortable and it pulled SO hard. It was like a lazy boy strapped to a JATO engine.
I have never seen anyone ride the FXLRS or ST whether 117 or 114 and not love it. Whether they are “Harley” riders or not, everyone loves this bike. Nice job HD.
I've seen this so many times the first time a rider experiences the power of a Harley. It shocks them. The giggle reflex is real and common! Americans buy horsepower but they ride and feel torque when on the street. People also tend to not believe how maneuverable the big Harleys really can be - even the big touring rides. Congrats Whitney. BTW I ride a Ultra Limited and also have a Triumph Bonneville T120 (another torque monster in a smaller bike).
Everything Whitney said about her experience with the ST is exactly how I felt riding it during an HD demo day in October. Then I rode the FatBoy and it was even more so for me. That is my next bike for sure. Just something about the power delivery and how the bikes ride, they really are fantastic.

Brilliant show! Really enjoyed Whitney's comments/insights. Can't wait to watch this with my wife. My wife is a "senior" rider, that's all I'll say in that regard, and rides a 2014 H-D Heritage with the 103 TC. She loves low end torque, as well, and the low seat height that "cruisers" offer. I have a 2004 H-D Road King, Stage 3, and a '98 Honda VFR 800. When asked which bike is my favorite...Both! They are completely different experiences. There is a place for both in my riding. FWIW if I turn the bars full lock to right I can literally bring an R18TC off the side stand with just a little pressure from the inside of the left knee and no hand on the left grip on level pavement. The balance of it is incredible since the center of gravity is so low. Just be sure to hold the right grip to hold the brake and to keep it from tipping over to the right. The full lock to right helps with pretty much any bike, but especially the heavy ones.

But once you did that, THIS was the Dyna experience... For you. Anybody else who rode it wouldn't "get it", so much of the perfect bike feel is subjective and emotive that a lot can get lost in translation. Harley deserves a ton of credit for being able to package that feeling into a commercial product, a Softail no less... But 22 grand?! I wouldn't feel ripped off if I could afford one, but I can't. Luckily the Softail Standard and the Street Bob 114 are under 15 grand and could easily be upgraded to this level, the Street Bob is really close just missing the suspension, fairing and bags... And really all I'd need is the fairing, I ride with a bookbag. Welcome to the fold, Whitney... Don't worry, most of us are more like Spite than Sons Of Anarchy.
Loved seeing Whitney expand her horizon. I'm a new convert to the Church of Harley Davidson, myself. I currently ride a 2005 Yamaha Warrior 1700 (which is a blast, btw). I love the looks of the Low Rider, Fat Boy, and the Breakout, but I believe I have decided on getting a standard Road King with an M8 motor. I did not expect to like the RK, but once I rode it, I was hooked! I would love to see your review of the RK and Whitney's first ride impressions on it and other HD offerings. I didn't get it before. Riding a Harley isn't about the technical specs. It is about the visceral experience and the way HD serves it up is satisfying in a way other bikes aren't... and they come with a community unlike any other make.
I had a Warrior for a year. Now I ride a Raider, which is still great, but nothing has held up to the warrior for me. Keep it, it's a gem that's becoming pretty rare now. Never rode another cruiser that went around corners THAT great.
Love today's video! This keeps pushing me towards the LRS everyone has at home, the Yamaha Warrior. Sounds like Whitney should consider throwing some luggage and a fairing on the R9T.
This is awesome!! I love when you have her on! I'm wanting to take mine for its first 1000 mi trip in April, to my sister's wedding. I want to get the bung king flat bars on it first.
I have had Gixxers, ZX6, ZX10s, a Buss and two ZX14s. I bought a Victory Cross Country because my current girlfriend would never ride on a rocket. I dearly miss my rockets and eventually plan on buying another. With that said; I HATED my CC for the first month. Now....man if I only had one bike it would be something along this line. I love the massive size. Look at pictures of a CC next to a touring Harley. It's soooo big. Makes for challenging yet fun U turns. Honestly I believe every enthusiast should spend at least a month on a giant bike. Keep up the good work. I'm really enjoying your new channel. ✊️
For a bit now I have been trying to decide between a cruiser/bagger and an ADV bike as my one and only motorcycle (and only motor vehicle). I mainly plan for it to be for touring, camping, shopping trips. I am not really planning on doing a ton of offroad (beyond the odd dirt road or light gravel road), though it is possible I could change my mind later. Mainly it will be used for paved roads and longer distances. It is a touch choice as I like them both for different reasons.
I bought a cruiser as my first bike after a 30 year hiatus. It was worthwhile, it let me know that I really don't like cruisers. They're OK and some of them are gorgeous machines but I find them super uncomfortable for anything over about 30 minutes, and I dragged the foot pegs so much that I broke the feelers off both sides and ground a fair bit of metal off them. Also I like being able to stand up.
It s cool to see Whitney and it s so funny , i always have a big smile when i take out my road king end of april or mai here in Montréal Québec even after 38 years i still enjoy it so much
A 2012-2016 Dyna Switchback will get you 80% of the way to a Low Rider ST for $8k to $10k. The Dyna is not as stable as the new softail when pushed in the corners, but otherwise it’s a great value for a really fun ride.
As an R18 owner who used to ride Harley, I can understand the sticker shock since almost anything from Harley is over $20k now and my 2022 was out the door $14.5k. I think if she bought the tail raising kit and put some short mufflers on her R18 she can enjoy it a bit more.
Loved this video. I came upon a HD Street Glide at a great price. Bought it without ever having been on one, or even ever considering one. Yes it was intimidating but once I got used to it I totally got it. It was so reassuring, noisy, heavy, but always engaging. I discovered all the HD hate was misplaced. I will never buy another one, not my thing. But, I really liked and was impressed by the bike.
All that low end tourque moves you quickly immediately. And will wear out cheap back tires in less than 5,000 miles. They pull great coming out of turns and flattens the hills.
As someone who went from a dyna street bob, to street glide, then back to a softail standard. The softail feels like a sportster after being on the touring bike for a couple years. The only Harley I’d say feels really big even though it’s the same size is the road glide. Something about the wraparound fairing and how far out front the dash is. It’s like sensory overload for a short person. It felt like there was so much in front of me that I lost sight of everything around me.
It's funny to hear you guys talk about touring bikes as if they're such massive monsters, because I'm so used to them. After putting 100k miles on Rocket IIIs, the Street and Road Glides actually feel small to me! I ride an Indian Challenger and a Rocket and big bikes just feel natural to me! I consider the LowRider ST to be flickable! Once you're used to the weight and how to balance those bikes, they're very manageable.
The big front fairings and panniers make it look bigger than it probably feels like to ride. The wide bars should improve handling, and that torque would make it fun in the twisties for sure.
What a great video ... Think Whitney might be getting an HD, lol ..... I came from a bmw 1250gs, got on LRS, and fell in love, sold the gs now own one in black, want to ride every day now, changed the exhaust to V&H high output exhaust, more power lol. Here in the uk 🇬🇧 we have a ride called the. Iron butt challenge.. it's a thousands miles in 24 hours, did it on my Low rider s in 22 hours, i got off like I'd been riding round the block a few times, most sports bikes can't belive how fast she is. They give the beans at the light to leave me standing, as I go flying past them laughing my mate is selling he's yamaha R1 now, as he can't believe how much power and how easy it is to ride. Keep safe
If you she had the stock height windshield, that would end buffeting probably. I am 5'8 and have the stock windscreen and get no buffeting. That said, I do get wind on my helmet, but it's clean wind.

It’s funny because that sums up my first ride on a Harley. Now I have a 2020
Road King Special and I absolutely love it.
Love today's video! This keeps pushing me towards the LRS everyone has at home, the Yamaha Warrior. Sounds like Whitney should consider throwing some luggage and a fairing on the R9T.
I've got a road glide St and fricken love it. It just makes you smile and you get a place to put things. No more back pack for me. Nice video. Cheers
This is awesome!! I love when you have her on! I'm wanting to take mine for its first 1000 mi trip in April, to my sister's wedding. I want to get the bung king flat bars on it first.
This content is great. Said the guy riding a 1975 BMW R60/6 :) Every time Whitney is on is a homerun!!
Good to see Whitney again.
I love this content! I could listen all the time!
Harley giving Spite this bike has been the best sales commercial I have seen in years.
Absolutely love this channel, looking to get my first bike soon, and for me this bike is something I want later in the future
Fun video, thank you! I’ll have to test ride one now.
Spite said those were mid controls. Def forward. No way standing g up on this one lol. I would like both forward and mids on my Dyna.
@@MotoBaumVirginiait's mids lol, there's no issue standing up. There's no issue standing on forwards either. Both these comments scream skill issue.
Honestly man sounds like the ergos were set up wrong for you... cruisers should be comfortable for hours on end, it's their whole function...
It s cool to see Whitney and it s so funny , i always have a big smile when i take out my road king end of april or mai here in Montréal Québec even after 38 years i still enjoy it so much
I learned to ride on a 1995 Road King so I completely understand everything Whitney's talking about and more!
YES! Whitney and Spike is like PB&J, Steak & Eggs. You get the picture.
I feel like “born to be wild” started playing in Whitney’s head when she ripped the throttle!! 😂 😂
More Spite and Whitney adventures!
A 2012-2016 Dyna Switchback will get you 80% of the way to a Low Rider ST for $8k to $10k. The Dyna is not as stable as the new softail when pushed in the corners, but otherwise it’s a great value for a really fun ride.
I have the same bike. It's a lot of fun and when she said these are mids? Priceless.
As an R18 owner who used to ride Harley, I can understand the sticker shock since almost anything from Harley is over $20k now and my 2022 was out the door $14.5k. I think if she bought the tail raising kit and put some short mufflers on her R18 she can enjoy it a bit more.
My favorite part of the Whitney videos are the “Whitneyisms.” I always look forward to hearing what adjectives she uses to describe things.
Add a windshield to a Sport Glide and it’s really comparable. I paid 17,100 out the door brand new 10-19. 38k miles now still love it.
Now I totally got to see Whitney on like an old Road king or ultra glide
She gunna love it guaranteed I bought two in one week including the el Diablo
I own a BMW, rode japanese bikes, never rode a Harley but Im seriously wanting an ST.. its gorgeous and so badass
Another day another Spites vídeo. Thank you very much Sir.
Awesome video guys, I smiled all the way thru it!
You need to do a show on learning to ride a Harley touring bike at slow speed with Jerry Palladino.
Great Video! You can hear the let down in Whitney's voice INSTANTLY when you tell her the price tag!
I like seeing you two reviewing together
Spiteney Rules!!! I drools 🥴
The big front fairings and panniers make it look bigger than it probably feels like to ride. The wide bars should improve handling, and that torque would make it fun in the twisties for sure.
Good to see @whitneydoes with Spite again. I hope it's a regular thing.
The opening scene is me with customers non-sports bikes.
It was fun watching someone not expect it and then totally got it
I don’t foresee a Harley in my future, but that was fun to watch, and I can understand the attraction.
Ok the Harley price is a killer, but I can see where is like oooh yes it could be nice
Keep safe
So cool she's out there with us it's cool
Her giggles are infectious. 😂
You guys are great together
Hi. You can compare the Lowrider st to the Street Glide st in terms of handling, comfort and high speed handling.
If you she had the stock height windshield, that would end buffeting probably. I am 5'8 and have the stock windscreen and get no buffeting. That said, I do get wind on my helmet, but it's clean wind.
