i know this is old but when you got to the board what are the black components laying down? they dont look like resistors or capacitors to me. I ask because my board has blown one of the black ones
If they have a white band around one end they're rectifier diodes. I can see two of these on the board in his video. Nestled next to the electrolytic caps and at the opposite end of the IC.
All the same problems here... Pump section is sticking on and it randomly wipes when I'm not even touching anything. The whole system was replaced only 4 years ago and now I need to buy a new one again?
Dang, I hope not! Did you get a new old stock, or rebuilt washer pump/wiper motor unit? This one is still working just as good now, as it did when I shot this video, that sucks you are having trouble again.
I got lucky, and found someone selling a new old stock wiper motor, and pump for cheap. All that was wrong was the plastic tips were broken on the washer pump, I just switched the good one off my old defective pump, and still working great as of today. If you can find NOS parts, that's the way to go on stuff like this.
It was doing it then the wipers completely stopped. I changed the motor and pump out and it is doing it with the new one, except I only have low speed. High speed, the wipers just stop where they are. I took off the cover to the pump and had to manually turn the plastic gear to make the pump arm stop pumping. After that the sprayer would work properly for about 5 to 8 uses, then back to spraying every time the wiper moves. The only thing I can guess is that they were both bad motor/pump assemblies. I changed the switch out and the problem continued. But I did put the switch on high and tapped the motor and it would move about half an inch. It all points to a bad part.
Sounds like a bad part for sure. Is it a re manufactured part, or new chinese part? If you can get a hold of a GM new old stock part, I think you'll have no more problems. That's how it worked out for me, at least. To this day mine still work flawlessly! I found both the new old stock motor/pump assembly, and the delay module. Solved all the weird problems my wipers were having.
My 83 was doing the exact same thing. I put in a new switch, which didn't help, then dropped in a new wiper motor and that fixed it. I'm still having an issue with my delay not working, and I'm about 99% sure it's this module. I reached up behind the switch and jiggled the plug a little bit and it works when I get it in just the right spot. I pushed on it once and it did start randomly spraying for a second, so the plug on that module could be your culprit.
Are you asking where I found the model number for the module? If so, I have a GM parts catalog for 1979-83 trucks. A must have to find correct parts, and well worth the money. I got it from Bishko Automobile Literature.
HI I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. My wipers are running fine but I am not getting any spray out of my nozzles. I was wondering if you knew any reason why that might be happening and if there is some way to fix it.
If yours is the same year as mine the pump is integrated with the motor, and I had to replace the motor to get my pump working right. If it is a newer truck the pump motor is in the bottom of the washer fluid tank. Nozzles could be stopped up too. I poke a small wire in the nozzle tips to clear mine out every now, and then.
Hi I put a new wiper motor on my 87 chevy plow truck , worked fine last year but now the new one has quit working . Any idea whats going on ? Thanks Mike
+mlacy111 Anything is possible! The new motor could have failed, could be wiring, not grounded properly, fuse, or even the switch could be defective. I'd suggest getting a wiring diagram for your truck, and start checking voltages throughout the wiper circuit. Sounds like something in the circuit is no longer making electrical contact.
Could you take a few pictures of the circuit board? Maybe make a little video of it. With plenty of close ups and angles of all sides. :) I promise I'll make another one for you. :)
You can plug the delay module plug right into the switch just there will be no delay
That's right. I like the delay feature, so it got fixed by module replacement!

This video helped me out, Thanks!

I believe it's a remanufactured, I had it done in a shop.

Have you ever ran across a problem where when your wiper fluid sprays whenever the wipers are on and will not stop until you turn it off?
It would sometimes do that before I replaced the pump/motor assembly.

@@dynatrak yes sir, it is reman. It's an oreillys part.

Great Video ,just wondering where you got the parts for redoing the circuit board I have a 1984 GMC . Thank You
+Al Kania I either got the capacitors off ebay, or the local electronics store.
can you tell me where you wound the wiper modal please.

These modules aren't any easier to find. Do you have a schematic of the circuit? I was hoping to make one.
I don't have a schematic for the module. Yeah, I've noticed the supply seems to be drying up fast.

I can do that next time I get a bit of free time.
can u get that part in LMC?
Not the last time I searched. There was one on ebay recently. I found a replacement on amazon when my repair didn't work out.
