Just a quick note from my experience retrofitting a modern wiper motor to an older car; if possible for any application, run the motor clockwise. If you run it the other way, it will tend to loosen the nuts that hold the linkages together, and they'll fall off mid-operation.
Spend alot of time trying to figure out the wiring on a 96 f150 motor to retrofit a 74 camaro but it was a mess. I even got the module and wired it to the original camaro switch, but it was a big fail. I guess I need the f150 switch to connect to the module so it can operate the motor. Blew a couple of fuses and a waste of time but at least I learned something.
Old video i know, but is there a way to figure out which are park? have a 5 wire nissan wiper motor and while i can get it to rotate, rotate quicker and omg make it stop, I'm not clear on the right method of checking for park. Is there resistance or something I could check or other?
Well, since you didn't think to mention in the title that this vid is about a 5 wire windshield motor, I'm afraid people facing the same problem as you did may have the same hard time finding the information they need. ;)
@@kean3545 Correct the one I got does that and I'm trying to search and find if it is possible to make it not do that and instead run continously in one direction but not having any luck. Do you know if it is possible to do?
@@HomeGrownPyro1 It is possible, therefor you have to open the gearbox (not possible if it's closed with rivets) and figure out what contact you have to remove... I would go for the easy way and find/ buy a front window wiper motor, then you will have at least two speeds.
@@kean3545 yes it is rivited closed however the wires are on the outside of of it. There is two coming out of the motor and 3 pins on the gearbox. The plug has 3 wires consisting of one wire from the motor, one from the gearbox. The 3rd wire to the plug first comes out of the motor and connects to pin 2 on gearbox and has a resistor attached which loops around and connects to pin 3 with the 3rd wire going from pin 3 to the plug. I was hoping maybe it would be something as simple as cutting the resistor out of that connection but Ill prob just end up buying a front wiper motor like you said and just keep this one around for a different use. Thanks for the response.
Hello, Can you hand me the electrical schematic with the colors of son please? I do not arive to distinguish colors on the video. I wish I could adapt this trick to lead the foot march my motorhome (back / out). Do I install an inverter rotation and regulate the speed? I have a door switch to trigger the opening of the foot march. I have found no pattern in French. Thank you for your attention. Best regards. Jean Pierre
Jean-Pierre Cane , sorry Jean Pierre I'm French and speak English quite well but I dint understand a thing you said. Don't believe that you are commenting on the right video. Just trying to help.
Just the opposite of what Philip Edwards said. You will need at 110VAC to 12V DC Transformer that you can ply in a wall outlet. Be sure it has enough amperage (large enough transformer) to power the wiper motor you are using.
hi you doing senor, thanks for your video, but can you help me with my 1995 dodge caravan wiper motor. I was in the rain going to the taco stand, but I don't got there, and the wiper stopped, and I was lost like a sheep without a shepherd, so i had to stop until the water stop. later at another day, i turn the wipers, and pressed with my lovely hands the connection of the wiper motor with the connection, and as long as I pushed with my gardening hands, then, the wipers were resurrected like the lord Jesus, but if I stopped doing, then the wipers stopped, and I see a huge dilemma when it rains. Could please, senor, have some manner that the connection makes a connection of electricity, so if there is a flood like the one of Noah's day, my wipers will work. could help me out, senor, I will thank you from the bottom of my soul, and if you end up in sunland, i will buy a hot dog from the seven eleven if you like, or whatver pleases you if you are having ravenous hunger that very day. Gracias amigo, and that you will be happy ever after, gracias senor.

Thank you for this video! I need to wire up a custom wiper switch for my truck and this tells me exactly how to figure out what each wire does.

Thanks, gave me the confidence to successfully wire up a wiper motor, here in Costa Rica, as part of a solar tracking mechanism.
Hey, that sounds interesting, did it work and by how much did it increase the production of the solar panels. Thanks :]
Found myself watching this over Kristy's shoulder. Great Video Pat. Thanks for sharing that with everyone.
+S.K. Austin Yes, yes he was. :-)
thank you, thank you, thank you. like you said there is no wiring diagram for the one I bought. I watched your video and figured mine out in 1 min!
This video really does help thank you.
This is gold I making a powered awning using a wiper motor and needed a 5 wire diagram
Good explaination thank you sir, wait for your another epesode
If you have no wires coming out of the motor where can you get the wiring harness?
Good info. Thanks for making this. I never was clear on how park worked.

Great instruction. Very helpful for troubleshooting this system.
I tested my motor and instead of park it goes in reverse direction and very slow Is it the motor

I have motor 4 wire
Blue wire
Blue white wire
Blue red wire
Red wire
I want tu connect speed can u help me to connect (-) and (+) ?
what battery did you use
Thank you from 2021 :)
I love this.. very straight forward. thank you
What type of vehicle did you pull that off of?
So how do you make the motor go back & forth (left - right; right - left), like when the wipers are on in the car?
its actually the mechanism that the motor attaches to that makes the wipers go back and forth, not the motor itself.
A rear window wiper motor has the meganism build in, so the would make about a half turn and then go back.

I have a question. Is this the front windshield wiper or the back?
A front windshield motor, this one turns around and around. The back windshield motor makes about a half turn.

is there any chance to get power from house electricity?
12v to 110v power inverter

@@smokeydabear9073 what is the amperage requirements
so when it shorts will it never work again????
You have to use the right fuse. This will blow before you kill the motor, or your powersuply (battery).
Didn't even state the color mixed with the remaining two blue wires I think it was the power and park
educational, but practice your delivery it needs to be more precise great job
very informative, thanks.
very thanking good
Wish you didn’t refer to wire colors an said the pin
where is wiper relay avalon 2005
Thank you!
Perfect thanks for that
good stuff

Dead short to ground, short to power?? That was a pretty sad explanation, a waste of 13 min of my life👈🤔
