They're not even fucking puzzles, that's the best part of it. Puzzle design is very difficult and requires thoughtful planning and intuitive design (I've tried making a puzzle game before, did not go well). Popcap is just pumping out randomly generated slop at breakneck pace and calling it a "puzzle." It reminds me a lot of Angry Birds 2, which has hundreds of randomly generated levels that all take place in the same couple locations. Even if they do add seed selection, it won't help the game. There's hardly any plants to pick from, and most of them either suck or are busted. Like, if you could pick plants, why pick sunflower over sun shroom? Or Lightning reed over, well anything really. If anything, adding seed selection without major balancing/reworks will only decrease level variety because the only good strat would be using bonk choy, walnut, and squash. Also thank you for saying tugboat isn't funny. People keep saying he's the best part of the game but him saying his name isn't funny at all.
The old pvz 3 in 3d for all its many flaws had some genuinely interesting ideas like the support plants who could take up 2 tiles and taco time for example. It wasnt good but it honeslty just seems more interesting than what we've got now.
see what happened? > beta released > "fans" butchered it > "hmm… it was kinda good. now that they changed everything because we complain about everything it sucks."
@@EmberlynFairweather I think its just the result of time to reflect given that the new pvz 3 has also turned out like this. Old pvz 3 still wasnt good. It looked like a bootleg 3ds game and a lot of the animations/design choices were questionable at best. It just actually had a few good ideas rather than just being a more boring and less thought out version of pvz 1 that i think should've stuck around since the beginning of the do over. Its like taking a piece of paper with a smiley face covered in mud asking whoever did it to try again and then they bring you one covered in dog poop and no smiley face. Both are bad but Atleast one smells better than the other.
You know what this game is missing? The freedom to pick your own plants, what made pvz fun in the first place was the endless varieties for strats. I hated the survive with the given plants stages in pvz 2, now they made a whole game about it
The main difference between them is pvz2 used this to try and show the player synergies between plants or provide a unique challenge. Pvz3 is just, here's a basic ass lineup of plants that you already know about, now beat the stage.
one of the games major problems for me is that it will just not let me progress unless iv used power ups. Iv got to a level where iv got no power ups and its impossible to beat without them so the game is forcing me to spend money
And I agree, I love the art style, the plants look so cute and nice, what I HATE the most is that difficulty thing where it punishes you for being good at the game, the way it pushes insane amounts of zombies into the lanes when you have like 3 sun flowers planted, this is worse in later levels I'm on level 200+ rn and the "hard" or "very hard" levels are such a pain to play, plus the ticketing thing is so wack on later levels, you have to play 4 levels to do something, at least give us like extra tickets for defeating hard levels... This game is such a mess...
The best compliment I can give to this game is that it makes the other pvz titles look masterpieces in comparison with this game, yes even BFN looks better compared to this game..
As someone who’s played pvz3. It sucks. I couldn’t get past like level 10. And I noticed the dynamic difficulty at like level 8 or something. I didn’t even know it was dynamic difficulty at the time. Remember when pvz2 had dynamic difficulty. Yeah everyone hated it which is why they removed it. It’s not gonna resurface better. Also if it’s a puzzle game make it a spin-off or something. Yeah PvZ gw, heroes, adventures and most of the Chinese ones weren’t tower defence. But they were also spin-offs. I thought the numbers were used for actual t.d styled games I’m also bad so that’s probably why level 8 was hard for me
Yeah that’s something that shocked me too, I genuinely couldn’t believe it when I found out. As if the game didn’t have enough going on, like really? 😭
If they add choose your plants i would literally oblirated pop cap's sh*tty levels with bonk choy spam sun shroom snow pea lightning reed and lastly wall nut
Yeah this is why I didn’t make any suggestion for them. The levels could be very easily cheesed because there’s almost no variety in the plant selection
It's their fault anyways I was stuck in a level for hours because they reusing the stupid balancing luckily the boosters helped me out I was struggling@@SylviaYSI
@@SylviaYSI The peashooter, snow pea, and cabbage pult are also just far too weak compared to every other plant and get swarmed by the zombie spam. Sun shroom is also just a better sunflower so far. If they allow us to choose our seeds the difficulty massively reduces since sunshroom, lightining reed, and bonk choy are pretty much the only plants that matter. I fear they will never let us choose our seeds because the balance will snap in two if they do.
The pre-selected plants issue reminds me of Angry Birds, but not as a problem, just that the birds had an intended way to be used in a stage. Plants here feel restrictive, SPECIALLY when RNG difficulty kicks in and plops random zombies in you. The stage doesn't change mid game in Angry Birds, but here it basically does.

I wish they would revitalize the scrapped project hot tub I think it was called. It was like a tomb raider-esk style game and it looked really cool but they abandoned it like 6 or so years ago
The devs still haven't learn their lesson from bfn removing the original features that made their game popular was a mistake like whats the point of getting rid of those they literally made they're game this popular
People are always complaining that we just want every new pvz game to be "1 and gw2 with a new coat of paint". 2 is also there sometimes. My brother in Christ those are literally the most well praised and popular pvz games with the most meaningful content of course fans will reject a game that essentially 180s on the ideas that made those games such a hit. Don't blame the fans. Just don't make a bad game and remember why people liked yours in the first place.
Pvz3 should have all the plants from pvz1. Some lore along with the heroes, better graphics, epic music and a actual zombot boss battle that is like the pvz1 boss fight. THAT WAY PVZ3 CAN BE AMAZING!
During this, I made a sneeze that is literally the origin, or the exact *SAME THING AS PLACING A PLANT. LIKE THE SAME SOUND EFFECT FROM PVZ 1 AND 2!* How, I don’t know.
Idk if my Wi-Fi sucks or smthn, but I just re-downloaded pvz2 and it was really low quality and blurry, the colours were off the music was fried and it was like 5 fps, either I downloaded a fake, my internet sucks, or they lowered the quality just so you would download pvz3
I mean there's 150 levels that you can beat in about two days if you actually grind this game hard. After that there's nothing really that much maybe for the exception of vase breaker and daily rewards. This game could actually have potential if they could add la PvP mode or something. Either way, new plants are upcoming so I guess that's still something.
To be honest I was really mad about the pre picked plants thing BUT.... when I actually played the game, the game had just a few plants, so the pick ur own plant is just useless
Also, the game just straight up plagiarized Gardenscapes/Homescapes, which is a game about a man named Austin who's inherited the mansion of some rich ancestor or something, i don't know, and you have to solve puzzles in order to progress which is just a matching game like Candy Crush Saga. At this rate, I want any action for any act of plagiarism especially in the mobile game industry. As said before, ideas aren't 100% original, but that doesn't mean you can copy anything and pass it down as your own, you have to take multiple ideas and add your own ideas in order to make something more original. I like the original PvZ game. PvZ 2, eh not so much. I like it because of nostalgia, and it doesn't have cheap gimmicks like limited life/energy systems, but it still has the nostalgic plants behind paywalls. What's also bizarre is the port transition of PvZ. We got the PC game called Plants Vs. Zombies(with a few console/mobile ports), but then PvZ 2 is played on mobile, and so is PvZ 3.
After level 145 the game becomes so easy that the only level I had to try twice was because I answered my phone and forgot to pause. The so called story is a dreary chore.
you sure the imps in this game comes in very early they're still annoying tho since there much faster than the other zombies making you cannot produce sun faster
1:33 why are you useing snow pea, then placing down a torch wood to turn the frozen pea into a normal pea, then placing more torchwoods to make it a flaming pea. Just use a peashooter 😭
When I played I also found it boring, the game play just wasn't fun, it was dull, the art looks good to me, I like the comic book cut scenes but if I want to see those I could just find them online without having to slog through level after level
I have actually played the game a little bit and here is my opinion. First of why is there a SUCH A LONG STORY I no joke everytime I beat the level I get a Ticket and just ignore it I want constant action with pvz1 you can instantly get in a new level. In pvz2 you can also continue nearly instantly but you get kicked out to then you feel kinda forced to watch a cutscene and if you dont watch it you have do watch everything in the end. The levels do feel repeating and it just does not have a minigame section like pvz1 it does not have events like pvz2 it doesnt have a garden a cool game gimmick like pvz2. It also should not be a puzzle game and i know it cant be changed probably but still pzv franchise it started as a tower defense i feel you cant just change it. I am also not far in the game but you dont have like world progression there aren't world there aren't different and cool looking, very different areas like the roof or backyard and all these worlds have different gimicks so they feel special the game it is al very same looking. But the main problem is that it isnt a pvz game look at the first pvz game and look at this one tell me what is the same next to the lanes and a few plants not even all plants make a comeback this game has less plants and pvz1 and 2 every so often you get a new plant or something like the garden I am at about level 15 and I have 4 plants in total it just doesnt feel rewarding in pvz1 every level you get something interesting maybe a diffecult level after with a interesting gimmick or a plant in pvz2 you can see when you get something interesting if the level has lines on the world map here it is just random oh i got a random plant after completing a boring level no interesting levels or gimmicks. But it is slow paced and has an horrible difficultie system and if you do too bad you lose a part of energie(wich all childhood franchises do, look at angry birds). Wich makes you feel you cant sit here and inprove over time you are just forced to wait. All the zombies are very same feeling and looking and not exiting, look at pvz1 and pvz2 zombies they are interesting maybe some are annoying like wizard but it is something interesting that adds to a level. My opinion, they need to practicly completely redesign the game to a interesting gane with gimmicks and something fun every so often if it is an extra plant or something like a garden and to make it feel like you are progressing. Also they need to make it a tower defense but they wont do that probably.
Of course it is boring because pre-level 116 every level is easy as f*ck, after 116 it gets near impossible to finish without power-ups. Game is too hard thats why its not really that boring since its very challenging. Though I agree the game sucks, could've been better.
I didn’t have very high expectations for the game, but i’m still disappointed with how it turned out regardless. Plus the response from the company (or lack thereof) didn’t help. Very sad that it didn’t end up better, but at least we still have the masterpiece that is the first game.
It really disappoints me the direction this game is going in. PvZ is a franchise I hold near and dear to my heart, since it literally formed my childhood, but God I hate the direction that it’s going in the modern day. I want to love PvZ3 so hard, which I do in some aspects, but it still needs so much work to *be* a PvZ game; especially the third in the mainline games!
I never been satisfied so much with such a beautiful video like this one, i do agree that this game is indeed so freaking boring and it’s so goddamn repetitive, plus it lacks of stuff like plant food, freedom of choosing our plants, conveyor belt stages, almanac, zen garden, plant level system and many more things, it’s just not fun at all and it gets so annoying and frustrating at a certain point but yeah the art style is amazing but the Gargantuar looks so odd and i hope they’re gonna balance the levels much more and add all the stuff from the previous games otherwise i'm not gonna ever play this boredom of a game. But meanwhile let's keep enjoying PVZ 2 and Heroes and hopefully they will make a brand new update about this last one.
Soo the story is in alot of ways both a reference to the comics and a parelel in how they are written say patrice and nate being there as they were the main characters along with crazy dave, twister being there a side character from one of the comics, tugboat is a reference to zombies in the comics like "nigel" a bucket head zombie with "nigel" on his bucket he would only say his name or brains, infact tugboat was in the comics, tugboat was nigels friend along with frogpants zombie, dr zomboss lookspretty similar to how he looked in the comics, the sentient lawnmower is a nod to how crazy dave would build and make all these weird and wacky machines and expirements, like one time he was expirementing with making mood ice cream
To be honest, I downloaded the game and played for a few minutes, as it was really boring. The levels are very fast, you can't choose the plants and it looks like a generic mobile game.
It definitely is a game that does need more time on it (even though it has had enough time already). It's a decent game, repetitive and boring? I do agree with liking the artstyle though, that is a highlight. I just wish it was like PvZ/PvZ2 more
my biggest issue with pvz3 is instead of trying to make a gardenscapes-esque system work with pvz, it felt tile they just slapped pvz levels into gardenscapes and called it a day. it would’ve worked so much better if the stuff that you did in the “story segments” as ill call them, actually had an impact on the pvz levels. believe it or not, there’s a game that exists which is very similar to pvz3, -both are tower defense games -both have an alternate game style alongside the tower defense portions that is in a genre popular among mobile games -both have you complete tower defense levels to progress in the other game style -both have banging soundtracks one of the main differences is that the other game is actually really good i’m talking about Bloons Monkey City BMC is a tower defense, city-builder spin-off of btd5. in BMC, you build a city, like most city builders, but to capture a piece of land, you have to play a short tower defense stage, and the building you build help you in said tower defense stages, by unlocking new upgrades or allowing you to use more towers. that just listed another difference between the two games. in BMC, the gameplay loop is: play tower defense levels to get space to build more buildings to help me with more tower defense levels. you see? the two types of gameplay feed into and compliment each other. contras that with pvz3: you play disconnected tower defense levels to get taco tickets to progress in the story, with no effect on the levels. you see? the only real “loop” in this gameplay loop is completing (bad) pvz levels till either you give up, get to the end of them, or the sun explodes. they don’t feed into each other, which makes the experience as a whole feel lesser.
They should go back to the old formula. I miss when this game was about building your own unique team from the huge variety of really cool and unique plants and creating your own unique plant defence layout to deal with each levels specific pool of zombies. PVZ3 Isn’t just mid, it’s garbage and it makes me incredibly sad seeing such a disappointment of an entry from a franchise I grew up on
I think “boring” is incredibly tame. It’s sad what this has become, or, well, what it *failed* at becoming, I’m honestly more sad than anything and I feel hopeless the more they try 😭 The game just feels so… hollow and lifeless. It feels like the average sellout mobile game, unlike PvZ2 which had its own real vibe and charm, not to mention *actual* gameplay that improved on nearly every aspect of its predecessor, PvZ1. Everything I loved was sucked out and they *degraded* the core gameplay by oversimplifying it to a STAGGERING degree. It’s such a shame, too… it had so much potential. 😔
At least they have selectable seeds now, but you fucking have 1 lawnmower which looks the way it does Also speaking of selectable seeds now, i’ve checked everywhere are snow pea costs the same yet is a DIRECT upgrade. Also not being able to see the next level sucks for the selectable seeds now
nope pvz3 is made by greedy, uncreative, and non passionate people they try to ban whoever tries to replicate pvz3 but better because they're afraid people won't buy their game
Just trust me that current PVZ3 can’t be more boring than kinda boring. In my opinion the most boring pvz 3 version was the first beta after soft launch in October 2021.
If it's better in the final version then they better change some of the stuff because it's way to similar to garden scapes and keep the cutscenes and bring back the old core mechanics
Alright hear me out, I like the game. But just give us choosable seed packets in just some levels so we still have the puzzle elements and for God's sake make it easier
It would be a weird choice now. Sunshroom is objectively better than sunflower so unless he's sentenced to only night levels he will surpass her in every way and no one will pick sunflower.

It reminds me a lot of Angry Birds 2, which has hundreds of randomly generated levels that all take place in the same couple locations.
Couldn't agree more.
Tbf, I think Lightning reed is good against pigeons. Why would you play the cabbagepult is the actual question, because the card is AWFUL.
It's because it's practically a clone of Gardenscapes, and that's a Puzzle game
Honestly the very first beta was the most fun for me despite the Clash Royale-ness of it lol
The old pvz 3 in 3d for all its many flaws had some genuinely interesting ideas like the support plants who could take up 2 tiles and taco time for example.
It wasnt good but it honeslty just seems more interesting than what we've got now.
Tbh it’s still so fascinating to look at, I’d love to make a video on that beta. It’s so cool, but also so weird
see what happened? > beta released
> "fans" butchered it
> "hmm… it was kinda good. now that they changed everything because we complain about everything it sucks."
@@SylviaYSI would be a fun watch :3
You know what this game is missing? The freedom to pick your own plants, what made pvz fun in the first place was the endless varieties for strats. I hated the survive with the given plants stages in pvz 2, now they made a whole game about it
The main difference between them is pvz2 used this to try and show the player synergies between plants or provide a unique challenge.
Pvz3 is just, here's a basic ass lineup of plants that you already know about, now beat the stage.
When I first saw a little bit of the gameplay, I was immediately like “Peashooter what did they do to you?!” I don’t like how they brutalised my boi.
one of the games major problems for me is that it will just not let me progress unless iv used power ups. Iv got to a level where iv got no power ups and its impossible to beat without them so the game is forcing me to spend money
Who's surprised, its EA
I swear if they just remastered PV1 with better graphics, new content, plants etc, it would sell like crazy
Well that wont happen the studio is filled with lazy and unoriginal devs who just copy other existing games
Like industries nowadays just only cared about money instead of passion like gaming is losing what it supposed to be a great and fun game
PvZ 3 is a game that exists.
I'm on lvl 60 and haven't lost once they have ruined the fun of it being able to play with plays you want and losing was all the fun
The best compliment I can give to this game is that it makes the other pvz titles look masterpieces in comparison with this game, yes even BFN looks better compared to this game..
What about the fact that PvZ 2 is "slightly" P2W?

Nuh uh. I need my choose your seeds or I'm sending Doom Shrooms at EA/Popcap's door
I thought the numbers were used for actual t.d styled games
I’m also bad so that’s probably why level 8 was hard for me
Holy shit, I did not know they put Dynamic Difficulty in. That's just shitty in a game with a life system.
Well, you learn something new every day.
I'd do starfruit only
The pre-selected plants issue reminds me of Angry Birds, but not as a problem, just that the birds had an intended way to be used in a stage.

Tugboat is nostalgia. Tugboat was in the pvz comics I read as a kid. Tugboat is life
HE HATED ON TUGBOAT GET HIM
During this, I made a sneeze that is literally the origin, or the exact *SAME THING AS PLACING A PLANT.
Yep it sucks
I agree with you i mean bamboo shoot the lowest hanging fruit was bambzooka and no
I mean there's 150 levels that you can beat in about two days if you actually grind this game hard.

This game not just boring. This is offensive
Zombies(with a few console/mobile ports), but then PvZ 2 is played on mobile, and so is PvZ 3.
sheesh pvz has evolved into a mobile game pop cap should've made a pc version of it
After level 145 the game becomes so easy that the only level I had to try twice was because I answered my phone and forgot to pause. The so called story is a dreary chore.
I love how gargs look and any other zombie. I used to hate imps but now they are just fine
you sure the imps in this game comes in very early they're still annoying tho since there much faster than the other zombies making you cannot produce sun faster
PvZ3 mods will make the original game more fun.
PVZ2 and 1 mods already do this, so it’s sort of a given for 3
You mentioned the almost chibi-like style and I remembered of DS PVZ, which I remember liking so much I emulated it once
1:33 why are you useing snow pea, then placing down a torch wood to turn the frozen pea into a normal pea, then placing more torchwoods to make it a flaming pea. Just use a peashooter 😭
The best part is the lawnmower killing the young plants and turning the garden into a goreden

@@SylviaYSIprotein 🗣🙏
Just started playing PvZ 2, which is A LOT of fun. Only played PvZ 1 when it came out. Not downloading this version, thanks for saving me the trouble.
When I played I also found it boring, the game play just wasn't fun, it was dull, the art looks good to me, I like the comic book cut scenes but if I want to see those I could just find them online without having to slog through level after level
Just looking at the gameplay and I'm like that: where are all the special Zombies? Where are all the Plants? That's IT???
My opinion,
they need to practicly completely redesign the game to a interesting gane with gimmicks and something fun every so often if it is an extra plant or something like a garden and to make it feel like you are progressing.
Also they need to make it a tower defense but they wont do that probably.
I think the biggest problem without a doubt is that YOU CANT CHOOSE YOUR PLANTS.
That fact alone makes it not feel like a pvz game.
Because it's not made by the same guys so people who worked at pop cap doesn't know the passion of gaming they just immediately screwed it up
food water atmosphere
Man I LOVE crazy Dave’s design in this game

pvz 3 feels like an awkward at a pvz game almost like a knock off
I don't approve of the artstyle.
I LIKE the artstyle, but i don't approve of it. Not for a mainline PvZ game.
Couldn't stomach more than 15 levels before uninstalling
All they needed to do was make it like pvz1 but no they wanted to change for the sake of change
I hate when devs decided to change things instead of adding new ones
I enjoy PVZ 3, but I agree there is definitely room for improvement
Here's hoping modders will fix PvZ3 or at least make it suck slightly less.
Bro the thing I’m most mad at is that the sun numbers don’t. Say like 50 on the icon or 100 on the icon
Pvz3 is a video game that can be played. There is nothing else to say about it.
Feels like megamind vs the doom syndicate all over again...
It would take them nearly scraping everything except the art style to save this game.
I watched someone play it and the only good character was the literal lawnmower, and arguably tugboat.
Played it, super boring
I am mad that every level doesn't let you choose seeds
Good gentlemen tell me the difference of this picture (level 146) and this picture (level 148). They're the same picture

I don’t find the gargantuas hideous, I find them a bit unsettling
To be honest, I downloaded the game and played for a few minutes, as it was really boring. The levels are very fast, you can't choose the plants and it looks like a generic mobile game.
It definitely is a game that does need more time on it (even though it has had enough time already). It's a decent game, repetitive and boring? I do agree with liking the artstyle though, that is a highlight. I just wish it was like PvZ/PvZ2 more
Pvz 1 and 2 were the best tower defence games ever made.
my biggest issue with pvz3 is instead of trying to make a gardenscapes-esque system work with pvz, it felt tile they just slapped pvz levels into gardenscapes and called it a day. it would’ve worked so much better if the stuff that you did in the “story segments” as ill call them, actually had an impact on the pvz levels.
believe it or not, there’s a game that exists which is very similar to pvz3,
-both are tower defense games
-both have an alternate game style alongside the tower defense portions that is in a genre popular among mobile games
-both have you complete tower defense levels to progress in the other game style
-both have banging soundtracks
one of the main differences is that the other game is actually really good
i’m talking about Bloons Monkey City
BMC is a tower defense, city-builder spin-off of btd5.
in BMC, you build a city, like most city builders, but to capture a piece of land, you have to play a short tower defense stage, and the building you build help you in said tower defense stages, by unlocking new upgrades or allowing you to use more towers.
that just listed another difference between the two games. in BMC, the gameplay loop is: play tower defense levels to get space to build more buildings to help me with more tower defense levels. you see? the two types of gameplay feed into and compliment each other.
contras that with pvz3: you play disconnected tower defense levels to get taco tickets to progress in the story, with no effect on the levels. you see? the only real “loop” in this gameplay loop is completing (bad) pvz levels till either you give up, get to the end of them, or the sun explodes. they don’t feed into each other, which makes the experience as a whole feel lesser.
Agreeeeeeee 10000000%. Went back to playing PVZ2
They should go back to the old formula. I miss when this game was about building your own unique team from the huge variety of really cool and unique plants and creating your own unique plant defence layout to deal with each levels specific pool of zombies.
PVZ3 Isn’t just mid, it’s garbage and it makes me incredibly sad seeing such a disappointment of an entry from a franchise I grew up on
The devs that work at pop cap aren't the same people they pretty much got the job with no talent and doesn't know what gaming is
the game is not boring it's fun❤
wrong it downgrades its gameplay it takes away people's freedom from the previous games
if you think its fun then where is zombot? where is the conveyor belt where choose your plants
and lastly they still haven't even finished day 9 for almost 2 weeks showing they either taking their time or just being lazy once again
I think “boring” is incredibly tame.
It’s sad what this has become, or, well, what it *failed* at becoming, I’m honestly more sad than anything and I feel hopeless the more they try 😭
The game just feels so… hollow and lifeless.
Also, Beghould isn't enough, like... WHERE'S WHACK'A'ZOMBIE!?
Day 2 of asking Sylvia to rank all BFN upgrades
I hate the new art style, but most the over stuff Is meh
Those damn snow peas💀1:32
Two og pvz games were slow and long while pvz3 is fast and the levels ended way too short
At least they have selectable seeds now, but you fucking have 1 lawnmower which looks the way it does
Also speaking of selectable seeds now, i’ve checked everywhere are snow pea costs the same yet is a DIRECT upgrade.
Also not being able to see the next level sucks for the selectable seeds now
I finish 115 levels and its really very boring, man just make a pvz like pvz 1 with better graphics and more plants
nope pvz3 is made by greedy, uncreative, and non passionate people they try to ban whoever tries to replicate pvz3 but better because they're afraid people won't buy their game
