About the zomboss fight, it makes sense that planting in a lane that lost its cleaner would cause zombies to spawn there again. The flags that prevent spawning are there to give you some time to replant your defenses after losing the lane, so by planting there it’s telling the game “I can defend this lane now, you can send zombies again”

Huzzah the version of PvZ that actually looks good! Also, for roof levels you can place straight-shooting plants like the peashooter even 2 rows back from the flat section. I think some plants need to be placed 1 row back at max like the starfruit because it's shorter but you still get a surprising amount of flexibility on roof levels.
I'm surprised scaredy was in garbage tier, I would have thought it would be incredible for it's long range, cheap damage. This was a really cool challenge, and it was cool to see speedrun terminology and tech elsewhere in the pvz community! I will say, I don't think 4-10 has less zombies because of the darkness gimmick - it's just that a lot of zombies in that level (buckets, diggers, pogos) cost 4 wave points, and so it's less zombies but, in theory, more "threatening" ones. The wave point system was made with the normal levels in mind though, and so the diggers and pogos are really not threatening if you have a thousand starfruit/split peas, as well as magnets for the bucketheads. Can also definitely relate to 5-5 being the worst level. I think it went better than 3-5 because cherry bombs are very rare in 5-5, but super common in 3-5.
5-5 was also easier because despite what SampleSize says, Chompers are pretty consistent due to not caring about when they're planted compared to how far a zombie is from it.
@@tehesprite502 I think the exact plant variety also helps a lot, the exact quartet you're given means that you won't end up with an entire row filled with Wallnuts and no way to fill it in blind, since you get Pot(Mandatory), Pumpkin(Doesn't prevent placing another plant), Cherry(Immediately removes itself), and Chomper, you're always gonna end up with Chompers everywhere as long as luck holds well and you repeatedly comb the field

@viridiannucleon maybe attempt it from an already completed file, on the Adventure 2 mode? You'd have to deal with Dave picking three plants, but it would give you all your plants from the start.
@@iwannaseehowlongyoucanmakethis Nope, that's PvZ2. Sadly in PvZ1 you have to click/tap for each individual sun one by one. Same goes for coins, which is why I actually recommend gold magnet for survival endless since coins can also get in the way of aiming cob cannons and placing instas.
your videos are ridiculously entertaining and high quality. just finished the stardew one (after a stardew youtube challenge binge) and now its time to watch all of your videos. battletoads included
Every time I see a blindfolded challenge, I want to see a version of the game where it's actually designed to be played blind. And for PvZ, I think all that involves is: 1) Giving each plant a unique jingle, both when selected in the top row and when placed. 2) Giving each row a unique sound, same with each column. Probably easiest to just use a piano scale, so top-left plays A, then A, the top, second from leftmost plays A, A#, etc. 3) An option to echo-locate, where each zombie growls, followed by the position that zombie is in, based on its row/column. Bucket zombies also make metallic noises, dolphin zombies make dolphin noises, etc. 4) Either adding voice acting that has intelligible words, or having the text in the game be screen-reader friendly. Adding all this stuff wouldn't even be that hard!
This is one of the coolest and most unique way to play this awesome game! Great Job, Sample! I cannot wait to go watch your 100% completion blindfolded. Definitely worth the sub. Fantastic content, sir
This is honestly incredible, probably by far the greatest achivement ever made in this game... At least until people start blindfolded speedrunning PvZ
I love Sample’s content, even if the challenge named in the title isn’t always successful, like some 0 jump runs, I like that more. I don’t feel tricked, I feel like a legitimate question I had (even if it is silly) was answered. Especially when comparing that to other challenge content, it is usually possible, just really hard, which can be answered pretty quickly. Thank you, Sample, for the amazing content! Can’t wait to see what you do next!
To everyone doing their homework, breathe slowly, take a sip of water, and focus. To everyone who is trying to sleep, leave the chat, grab a blanket, and get the rest you deserve. To everyone who is sad, grab a snack, have some water, get a blanket, and write down your thoughts. When you're done, lay down and get some rest, no matter the time. To everyone who is creating, you got this. Your creation looks terrific. Remain in your flow and get stuff done

iirc, swiping your finger across the screen will catch any sun it touches. So you could do that.
@@Duppling oh damn, that sucks.
your videos are ridiculously entertaining and high quality. just finished the stardew one (after a stardew youtube challenge binge) and now its time to watch all of your videos. battletoads included
Every time I see a blindfolded challenge, I want to see a version of the game where it's actually designed to be played blind. And for PvZ, I think all that involves is:
1) Giving each plant a unique jingle, both when selected in the top row and when placed.
Very surprised how he could do this based on how much rng pvz has
uuuuuhh sir, I hope you realise that you could’ve pressed one of the trigger buttons to call all of the sun to you.
Sample out there keeping the video challenge genre afloat all on his own.
This is one of the coolest and most unique way to play this awesome game! Great Job, Sample! I cannot wait to go watch your 100% completion blindfolded.
Definitely worth the sub. Fantastic content, sir
ah yes my favourite times of day, pooltime, fogtime, and rooftime
I always get so excited when I see a new Sample video! ✨
3:30 “We know where the Zombie is by subtracting where it isn’t from it is”
5:16 Proof Sample is cheating. He clearly says "I SEE my issue" Thus making this run invalid /s
He has to be a cheater!! Notice in the thumbnail the zombie represents him, but it can clearly see with it's right eye!!
It’s a bit easy to collect sun just hold one of the left or right triggers to bring the sun to you
I literally just subscribed because you used 999 and Danganronpa music in this video and that's one of my all-time favourite games.
I think the true blindfolded runs were the friends we made along the way
This is honestly incredible, probably by far the greatest achivement ever made in this game...
At least until people start blindfolded speedrunning PvZ
Watched the whole video NOT blindfolded.
I really hope he does this with the mini games, column like you see em is gonna be hysterical
now do pvz 2
It doesn't have a Console version.
one of my fav childhood games, super cool to see it covered like this! great video :)
POV: Fog conveyor level be like:
To everyone doing their homework, breathe slowly, take a sip of water, and focus.
To everyone who is trying to sleep, leave the chat, grab a blanket, and get the rest you deserve.
To everyone who is sad, grab a snack, have some water, get a blanket, and write down your thoughts. When you're done, lay down and get some rest, no matter the time.
To everyone who is creating, you got this. Your creation looks terrific. Remain in your flow and get stuff done
love the fact you didn't click the trigger to pull all sun to you
What?
Game: in this level you can't see!
Sample: Oh no, what a nightmare! 🙄
That accidental save where you bought roof cleaners and rakes both, not realizing you had them swapped in your head, absolutely sent me 😆
I love how he gets so good at the game, he can do what good chess players do, and visualise with his eyes closed.
„Plants vs Zombies was one of my favourite childhood games“ I‘ll go dig myself my grave now
game came out in 2010 or somethin man that’s just how it is
The fog obstructing your vision definently affected the gameplay!
You know this dude is insane when he used soundtracks from Ace Attorney, Danganronpa and even The Binding of Isaac as background music while playing PVZ.
was legit searching a comment talking about this and found it, bro is insane, mostly realising he was using these, when the danganronpa one was playing tho 🤣
3:37 The sample knows where the zombies are by subtracting where they are from where they aren't. The sample knows where they aren't by placing a peashooter and listening for it to shoot, if it doesn't, they aren't there
Looks like it could be a speedrun category
The hearing strategy reminds me of the old strategy I used as a kid, putting a puffshroom in the fog and listening if it was the correct lane
Dang you were gamin as a kid
I like the inclusion of the tier list, it works surprisingly well to rank the plants as you get them.
You are so strong in game you are a Goat and your videos is so good so i say good luck the goat for a another challenge
This whole challenge is impressive and all, but I think I’m more impressed by the fact you never figured out that the trigger buttons automatically collect all sun on the screen
look man I ain’t play the console version as a kid
Loved this video, maybe try doing some other PvZ challenges in future
3:22 the peashooter knows where it is because it knows where it isn't
