it looks pretty straight forward without the rest of the car in the way
thank you for including the torque specs those are details that can be hard to find without factory info
Works very fine and helps me alot to prevent mistakes!
Thank you, keep doing those videos!
Very good thank you
Good spot on information step by step. Again thank you
The torque spec for the driver side tensioner guide is wrong it caused me to destroy 2 heads on my Dakota. Do not torque to 20 ftlbs 10 or 12 is plenty
Excellent work!
So I just did a 2000 Dakota. Timed it all up correctly and buttoned it all up. Went to crank it up and it immediately jumped time on passenger head. I think drivers side head jumped time too. I pulled it all apart, retimed it. Did a compression test. Zero on passenger side, 60psi on drivers side.
This is not the first one I've done but its the first one thats jumped time. What would cause this? Is this a tensioner issue?
EXCELLENT JOB AMIGOS !! THANKS A LOT FOR SHARING
Thanks for making the video
GREAT VID, GREAT INFO....TY
What kit do i need for a 2006 dodge Dakota 4.7?
Muy buena explicacion
Wow perfect thanks
so the piston is at the top dead center of the exaust stroke and then the intake strok continues?
Hello! Can the 90393SD kit fit a 2007 Grand Cherokee WH 4.7? Judging by the technical dimensions of some parts, there is not much difference, except for the width and pitch of the chain teeth. Thanks in advance for your reply.
No, we show the 9-0393SF to be the correct kit for the 2007 Grand Cherokee 4.7's. The main difference between the "SF" and "SD" kits are the secondary chains. The older "SD" kit contains inverted tooth secondary chains and the newer "SF" kit has roller style secondary chains. The tensioner guides for the secondary chains also changed, the "SF" kit having pivoting bushings where the tensioner guides attach to the engine. With the change in chain styles, the sprocket tooth designs are also different.
@@Cloyes01 Oh, thanks...
@@Cloyes01 Would this be the same process for 02 4.7
Well made 👍
what are the pistons suppose to look like?
Do you have a video for the 05 Dodge 4.7 in a RAM 1500?? Also, can you tell me what the product number is for a complete timing set for the 05 4.7??
The 9-0393SD timing kit will work for your 4.7, and this video will apply with just a few differences.
How can I put o time chain dodge 4.7L v8 whith 16 spark plugs and timing chain only have 1 and 1 marks no 2 marks and 1
I’ve tried 2 kits and both kits the passenger side tensioner table that sits in the guide won’t touch it for the full revolution of the crank. What causes this?
no oil pressure
I have followed the directions from this video, yet when i rotate the engine to make sure it stays in time it ends up several teeth off on both cam gears. Anyone have an idea why?
The marked chain links are only going to align during the initial installation. After the engine is rotated, you will lose the chain as a reference.
wow good
How do you remove that freeze plug on the drivers side head to access the lower tensioner guide
If you are referring to the black plastic plug to access the upper mounting bolt for the drivers-side lower chain guide, then all you have to do is push the plug out from its backside. I was able to do this using only my finger. Do not try to pry it out from the front side as you may damage the bore. It is aluminum and can be easily damaged causing an oil leak.

Whats the easiest way to remove the idller sprocket? I don't have no pullers!
A puller is not needed to remove the idler sprocket. All you have to do is work both the idler sprocket and the crank sprocket back and forth at the same time. They will come out slowly but surely. If it seems stuck, you can lightly tap on the idler sprocket with a soft faced mallet to free it up a little bit.
Quick question: Everything was at top dead center.I removed tensioners and my right side cam gear is now sitting at the 10 maybe 11 o'clock position. NOW what ?
When you are installing the new chain, you will just need to rotate the camshaft back to properly align the marks.
How many teeth on cam gears with 32 teeth on crank sensor wheel
Love this
what tensioner is left or right 🤷♂️
lookfor the R and L or the one with the extra plate on back is left or drivers or bank 1357
Why is the bottom crank dot/mark at the 7 O'clock position?????
My thought exactly
👍👍👍
I’m ready did that from 2000 jeep grand Cherokee somebody put it the engine with 32 teeth and never start our place that will or 16 teeth and the Jeep grand Cherokee is star very well. I was looking for a lot information and never found somebody did before and put it on I did, and I’m back to put, this important information the point is if you have computer with three blocks, you need to be 16 tone wheel. If you have the computer with four connectors, you need the 32 teeth tone wheel on my case I didn’t change the camshaft tone wheel I’m investigated and ready hop the right one. I’m not sure if somebody put it on but the car came from the other shop and I never know what they did this vehicle before. That’s why I’ve been crazy but the car is running very well now.
Tdc on exhaust ?
Iv always heard tdc on compresion for anything timing
I Guess it would be to fuken easy to put a mark on secondary freaken chain sprocket
I've watched a bunch of videos and none of them are really addressing how difficult it is to talk down the sprocket to 90 foot pounds and this cannot be done with a vise grips. I'm not sure what you did in the video but I'm pretty sure you didn't use the 90 lb measurement and if you did please say so because it has people like me wasting tons of time trying to get this job completed by spending hours on line looking for the right tool if there is in fact a right tool or is anybody actually talking these things down to the proper torque spec.?
Simpler than the Ford 4.0 that’s for sure.
That's why you should not buy Ford
@@mrhighway 4.6 is simpler than the dodge
