+Mikel Ibarra Speaking as a culinary student, odds are, if a dish has survived to be a common good of an entire culture, as long as it's made right, it should be "pretty good" at least.
Don't forget that most of these were made by moms or home cooks who've grown up with the dish and know it well. Of course they'd make it well.

I'm from Canada and I know that some Canadians find people from the Caribbean to be kind of direct and blunt. But what's great for me is that there is often a real genuine warmth and sincerity from them. I find it refreshing. I'll take blunt and direct but genuine over polite but fake any day of the week.

I'm American and I love Caribbean cuisine, particularly Puerto Rican and Jamaican. I've never tried Dominican food nor Haitian food, but I wouldn't mind trying it :).
You should try Haitian food!! One of my friends from Haiti brought me to a good Haitian food place and their food is so delicious too! If you didn’t try Haitian food yet you are missing out!

Oh snap, I didn't know haitians had that too, they call it pain patte and it's made with sweet potato, but Barbadians we use cassava/yuca and call it Pone (ryhmes with bone).
